Phone call to Dr Luke’s office today. “Cody” answers the phone. She leaves me on hold so long I get some weird message. Bailee was there a month ago. She has been seen for this skin condition numerous times. I asked her to ask Dr Luke about the fact that after antibiotics she is still itching and has funky smell. She says he will have to see Bailee, It’s been a month. I explain that normally he will try something else. She insists he’s gonna say he has to see her! Why couldn’t she just ask Dr Luke. I drive from Vinton to Westlake. It’s not a fun drive. So disappointed.

Friendly reception staff that are good at their jobs! I'm always awed by how clean it is when I walk in. The Doctors are knowledgeable and attentive. You won't have to wait long for an appointment, and when you arrive they see you quickly. I drive an extra 40 minutes round trip to go here because they are hands down the best in the area.

My dog had an emergency (my dogs nose was gushing blood for 30+ minutes) and I called to see if there was a chance they could see her. The receptionist had asked if we could be put on hold and we agreed, but were left on hold for 10+ minutes. Given this was an emergency, I hung up and called back. The receptionist answered and said “I have no doctor that can see you”. I asked if there was anything they could do because the closest emergency vet was an hour away and she gave the same answer.
I understand that they were probably busy and may not have been able to see her but the coldness/lack of empathy from the receptionist was disappointing. Additionally, she didn’t provide any guidance on where we could take my dog and instead left us on hold during a dire situation.
My family has been going to this vet for several years but this was the final straw.

We have been taking our dog to this facility and had an emergency this morning and needed to get him in! We were told they were booked and could not get him in until the following week. I asked if they could just look at him very quickly and tell me what I can do to help him, they would not agreed to that either!
I called another veterinary service in Roanoke that I had never been to before and they got me in that day since it was an emergency! I had to drive past Westlake veterinary service to get to the other appointment and they had closed for lunch…so they could have fit us in very quickly. I will never take my dog there again!!! Apparently, lunch is more important than your dogs health!!!
If we had not gotten him in at the other vet office it would have been very bad! The worse part of this is the receptionist on the phone was rude about it! BEWARE!

This place was/is wonderful. I'm visiting my parents from out of town so this clinic is not my normal vet. My dog got sick & they fit me in within a couple of hours. I was warned I may have to wait since they were squeezing me in, which was nice to know up front. I only had to wait 6 minutes. Everyone was very friendly. The tech & vet (Dr. Demarco) were thorough & didn't rush me at all. Me & Piper got excellent care. I highly recommend this clinic & I am very thankful they helped us.

Sadly, I will be changing vets. For the 2nd time this month I have had a cat emergency and was told I couldn't be seen. The receptionist was cold and uncaring, and saying"well, there's only so many hours in a day" so goodbye dr luke, I loved you as my vet over the past years but for me this was unacceptable, especially since the first one had to be put down.

I have been going to Dr. Luke for over 20 years. You can tell he is a great Vet. because his patient load has increased dramatically. I can not count how many of my pets he has saved over the years, and I don't know how to thank him enough. He will explain anything you ask, and no matter how tired he is, he is always friendly. The main thing is his love and devotion to animals.

For many many years our family has been very satisfied with the services and care of our dogs. In 2009, we had to put our dog down and that experience with Westlake Vet Center was positive. Unfortunately, our recent experience has left us very very upset! I have decided that it is necessary for me to share our negative experience in hope that the staff and clinic can make changes to their procedures to be more mindful and compassionate to the families of those who lost a beloved pet and family member! When our dog passed we were not home and a dear friend was able to bring our dog Max to the clinic so he could be cremated. Both my husband and I called to check on what needs to be done and neither of us were asked about whether or not we wanted our dogs collar and tag! I did call to be sure the paw print could be done and did not think about asking about his collar and tag! When I picked up our dogs remains there was no collar or tag received. Again, Dr. Luke and much of the staff have been awesome for greater than 15 years but this is something a staff member shouldn’t just say it wasn’t written on his chart! I would strongly suggest in going forward that all collars and tags should be offered to the families whether it was written in the chart! This should be standard procedure even if the family did not think to ask or if the staff forgot to ask!! I understand some may think this is ridiculous however my daughter (and myself) really wanted his collar and tag. It should be noted that I did speak to a staff member who indicated that there was nothing indicated on the chart and who looked further and did call and leave a message about a possible red collar but no tag. I hesitated to call back and it happened to be after hours but ultimately I did not trust myself not to get too upset and lash out and hence I decided to share this review.
