I hate visiting the "big box" home stores like Home Depot and Lowe's. Don't get me wrong, they have great stuff. I just don't like the crowds and the parking. This is why I like to shop at Pleasants Hardware (I go to both the Midlothian and Powhatan locations). The aisles are easily marked so everything is easy to find, and if not, sales associates are always more than willing to help and give advice. What's really nice, the prices are low...no big overhead, no Tv commercials to pay for, no big buildings to cool or heat...and there is always plenty of parking right in front of their stores! I love the "Mom and Pop" store feel of Pleasants Hardware.

Really nice neighborhood style hardware store. Extremely friendly and experienced staff who are eager to help you. They can advise not only on what to buy, but how to solve a problem. For a smaller store, they have a surprisingly wide range of products. I love not having to walk blocks to get something, like I have to in big box stores.

Convenient, good variety for the size, friendly people, a little on the expensive side, knowledgeable staff, unlike big box stores where the employees ignore customers. Reminds me of hardware stores of the past.

Very helpful staff and able to find hardware that isn't easy to find in stores. I'll continue to use this location whenever I can, over the big box stores, to keep it around.

Had three keys made and only one worked----- If this was baseball, a .333 average would be great but since I live 20 minutes away, pretty inconvenient is all I can say

I don't write reviews very often, and honestly I've been to this store more times than I can count over the years, because I have been satisfied with the selection of merchandise and hospitality of the staff. Today I stopped by after picking my son up from school to grab up a few things, and on the way in he asked if the store had a bathroom. I asked one of the attendants, and she said "no public bathrooms, but you can use the one next door". Really? I picked up what I needed, voiced my displeasure at this silly lack of a basic amenity, and she said "It's been this way since Covid, and there's a sign on the door". Give me a break. The antique store's restrooms are OK for your customers but not your own? If a store can't let a middle school kid use the restroom while his dad is spending money (or any customer for that matter), then I'll take my business somewhere else. Sorry and thanks. The simple things do matter.

Been there a few times and there are always friendly knowledgeable employees there ready to help. None if the wandering around aisle after aisle to ask someone a question like you get at the two big box stores. They pack way more than you might expect in a small store. Definitely worth a visit next time you need something.

If they have something you need out of stock, they will happily order it for you. I've only had to make a return once and they were friendly about it.

Was going to the antique store next door and when I saw Pleasants Hardware I remembered I needed two keys made so I went there first. I don't think the associate had been properly trained and it took a while to get them made. After getting the keys I heard the customer behind me telling the associate that the two keys that he just got earlier did not work. I paid and went home 15 miles away. Only one of the two worked. Wasn't worth it to me to to take back the defective key.
