This was my first experience with Jackson Hewitt and I was pleased and impressed. The agent was patient with me as she prepared my returns in front of me. She answered all of my questions and made every effort to get me the best result possible. Her assistance and the convenience of the location made this a great experience.

I couldn't believe my taxes were $350 to file! My taxes are very simple and not much to think about or enter. The lady said it was based off the amout of paperwork which is how your charged. I literally had 4 statements for her to look at and nothing else. I dont have a small business or anything crazy! I will never use them again, in fact I may learn to do it myself next year!

Jackson Hewitt's advertisement of a "No Fee" refund advance is fraudulent and deceptive. My girlfriend received tax preparation services from them and was told she could receive a $500 "No Fee" refund advance. Tied to this service was a $49.95 Assisted Refund charge for having her tax preparation fees deducted from her refund. Additionally, the only way to receive the advance was to purchase the Assisted Refund add-on. She was not given and in fact it is not an option to be given an advance if you decide to pay for your tax preparation services up front. This in essence creates an immediate fee/charge of $49.95 for any refund advance. In her case, for a $500 refund advance this equates to roughly 133% APR for her 1 month advance. She filed on 1/31/20, received her advance the following week and the remainder of her refund should be released at the beginning of March. Approximately 1 month after she filed. Again, mind you the only way to get the advance is to use the Assisted Refund. The APR will of course be lower with a bigger advance. The tax preparation costs, by the way, are extremely high given the amount of effort required for her taxes but to call the advance a "No Fee" loan is really where the deception is hidden. It should be called a "Flat Fee Refund Advance" to clearly tell people they are paying for it. I understand everyone may not receive the advance but for those who do the product should be given a name that clearly labels it for what it is. If you want, call it an "at most 133% APR Refund Advance", just don't call it "No Fee". This practice is predatory and deceptive and it is at the corporate level. The local offices are only selling the products and services within the fee and package structure created by the parent company. This requires a cultural business shift on a corporate level.

No one was there to service me although a sign said they'd be back at 2 pm. It's almost 3 pm without a person in sight.
