Bill is a pleasure. Stopped in today on a whim and received a most warm welcome and excellent service (picked up a gorgeous pair of earrings). Felt truly comfortable as a client and seen as a human. The art and jewelry are beautiful and the space and owners are inviting (which isn’t always the case for art galleries in general or businesses this area). 10/10 all day every day. Can’t wait to return!

Located on E. Washington, the Byrne Gallery is easy to find. When we visited, it was in great disarray, since the gallery was being set up for a new exhibit and they were organizing an opening reception on site. As opposed to many of the other galleries in Middleburg that focus on rural life, animals and fox hunting, The Byrne attracts multiple international artists of eclectic taste and a variety of styles. The show they were preparing was of Yuri Gorbachev, a nephew of former USSR leader Mikhail Gorbachev. Yuri's style is quite unique and he focuses on angels, birds and horses in a modern punctillist style, akin to a 21st century Rousseau.Despite the activity and stress of the upcoming show, we were welcome and a very nice lady showed us around and provided all the information we needed to enjoy the gallery and past and future shows. Highly recommended.

I've shopped in this small gallery twice, both times for the beautiful and unique jewelry from local artists. This last time the owners, Bill and Susan, were hosting a jewelry show featuring local artists of course. I will admit I probably spent more than I should have, but I came away with some truly unique and lovely items to include a Christmas gift for my mom who also loves jewelry. From this write up you might think the gallery features only jewelry, but that is not the case. I noticed art on the walls and sculptures/gifts throughout the store. The one commonality being unique local art. The owners of this lovely store were kind and helpful. I was able to try on the jewelry and wander about the store as I browsed around some more. When it came time to check out, I was even offered a small discount - maybe because I had decided to purchase 4 items. At any rate, it was greatly appreciated as was the glass of wine to enjoy during the art show. This shop is a class act and I will return.

Steer clear of this place!! The art inside is nice which warrants the 1 star but the management is by far the worst of any establishment I've seen in my life. I work for an interior design firm and happened to spot a sculpture in the window I thought could work for an upcoming project. I went inside and took pictures of the different shapes to show my boss on Monday. There was a table with tons of papers (there was a stack so I assumed it was flyers for visitors to take) along with the artist's resume. I took a picture of his website address to look and see if he worked in something besides wood. That's when the "proprietor" of the gallery approached me and started lecturing me on why I couldn't take pictures. I apologized and explained my reason but apparently that wasn't enough. She continued repeating herself and raising her voice about how I don't know "proper protocol" and her shop is like a museum. (PS it's maybe 400 sq ft total and certainly not museum quality. Also I've been allowed taken a picture of the Mona Lisa firsthand so clearly she hasn't been to a museum lately.) After I apologized at least 7 times and deleted the photo she still would not stop screaming at me. Not only will I never step foot in this place again, but if/when my firm commissions a piece from that artist it will be on the contingency that her shop gets no revenue from that sale. Yelling at a customer is never good business, especially with other customers around. Good luck staying open...

We have a friend who is a sculptor, and we have gone to his exhibitions two years in a row. Middleburg is such a lovely destination anyway, and this small gallery is a pleasant stop along the main street in town. Whether you find it worthwhile will certainly depend on whose work they are featuring at the time.
