Nice but don't go in bad weather and have a back up plan if your GPS goes out and be careful up there.

Wow, this place is gorgeous. I don’t love golf but would play here again. The scenery is unbelievable. Also the food at the bar/restaurant is really good. I really enjoyed the wings and patty melt.

The hotel room was around $5,000 for 3 nights and yet they add a non-optional $45 per night "resort fee". When queried I was told it included, amongst other things, car park fees. I realise this is a trend amongst lower priced hotels as a means of lowering the rack rates. I can only think they must be struggling to make money, which then makes me wonder where they are cutting costs - perhaps on staffing numbers?

We just had a four-night stay, with a room in one of the Pinnacle Cottages. The prices for accommodations, “experiences” and food were all wildly higher than justified by their level of quality. I have no problem with paying a premium for upscale resort stays, but this place just swindles you. The Staff, however, were all very friendly and helpful.

Overall, my husband and I had a lovely stay! The food and staff at Primland are top-notch. It's also in a beautiful and well maintained location, with very nice amenities. The only reason I am scoring our experience a little lower is because our room (Cardinal West on the Fairway) had a fruit fly infestation in the kitchenette. They came in and sprayed, but they should do some deeper investigating and cleaning (we think they had nested in the coffeemaker.) Also, two days after checking out, I discovered bed bug bites on my leg and back. I think it was more likely from the next hotel we stayed at in Roanoke, but when I called Primland to alert them to the risk and advised them to check the room and bed as a precaution, they didn't sound concerned or even ask for my name or other guest details. That was a bit surprising to me given the context and risks if there are any in the room, especially at such a nice resort. So, in summary, as long as you don't stay exactly where we did, you'll have a totally wonderful experience! I'd still return but request a different room.
Rooms: Had some issues with our particular room, but it was still lovely, and I am sure other rooms there would be too.
Walkability: Easy to get around the immediate resort and hiking trails accessible by foot.
Food and drinks: Wonderful! Better than expected!

A hidden gem! By far the best stay at a resort we’ve had. I booked 2 nights for my husband’s birthday to have a relaxing getaway in the mountains. Everything about our experience was phenomenal from our room, to the views, food, amenities, excursions, and customers service. We were blown away by the warmth and friendliness of the staff. They were very accommodating and made our experience even more enjoyable. We didn’t want to leave! This will be an annual spot for our family to return to. Worth every penny!
Rooms: Very clean and beautiful!
Nearby activities: Several activities to enjoy from RTV tours, golf, guided hikes, paddle boarding and kayaking, fly fishing, horseback riding, etc.
Safety: Gated private road up to resort that sits on 12,000 acres. Felt very safe as only guests could get on the property.
Walkability: Very walkable paths on the property around the lodge and plenty of hiking trails from beginner to advanced.
Food and drinks: Everything we ate was amazing. We really enjoyed the Saloon restaurant!
Noteworthy details: Incredible and friendly staff.

Arrived on a Sunday for a much needed, long overdue solo vacation. While there were a couple of early bumps with check-in, this place, especially the GM Will Rentschler, went above and beyond to rectify the situation. I’m so grateful for his receptiveness and willingness to make it a perfect getaway for me.
The king room at Pinnacle cottages was unmatched as far as the views and accommodations. I could have spent the whole trip on the balcony soaking in the view, and the utter quiet and solitude (and in fact I did on my first day). There is literally NO SOUND on the balcony other than the occasional bird and the soft breeze.
The huge bay windows (openable with a screen) make you feel like you are staying on a low-lying cloud taking in the picturesque Mountain View even from your bed. The bathroom, shower and tub- pure luxury. Nespresso coffee maker and complimentary water and snacks. Big Chromecast-enabled TV that begs to be watched even though you know you didn’t come here to watch TV (but no guilt if you do). Everything from the linens to the toiletries, lighting and electric blinds was top notch.
There was some noise from neighbors and loud doors/stairwell but it was minimal as most people here are not in their rooms all that much.
The property- you drive through the middle of nowhere thinking your GPS must surely be wrong, and once you pass through the gate, it’s nothing but jaw dropping undisturbed and pristine mountains and rolling hills. The golf course is one of the nicest I’ve ever seen and I probably would have appreciated it more if I was into golf. There is ALOT of wildlife. A family of deer greeted me about 1/4 mile from the lodge and I could have reached out and pet them if I’d wanted to.
I went kayaking with a kind and knowledgeable young man named Cole, who helped me when I needed it but also knew when to let me go off on my own and at my own pace. He even let me try stand up paddle boarding on his board at the end. The Dan River is astoundingly gorgeous and I could have stayed out there all day.
Tomorrow I have horseback riding and a spa appointment and I have no doubt the experience will be nothing short of spectacular. I also plan to do the stargazing one night which I hear is an amazing experience. If I can force myself to leave my little slice of heaven in my room.
Thank you Primland Resort staff for making this one of the most memorable and restorative vacations of my life thus far. I will definitely be back.

A total hidden gem in the Blue Ridge mountains of Va! Stay in a pinnacle room you won’t regret it! The views, the food and the activities and atmosphere was incredible. It was worth the ride to see a glimpse of heaven on earth ♥️
Rooms: Stayed in a beautiful Pinnacle room about 1/4 mile from the main lodge. Had our own living space , bedroom, luxury bath and two decks overlooking the property
Walkability: Lots of walking paths and easy to get back to lodge. If you need a ride to an activity they’ve got your back

Wonderfully secluded luxury mountain getaway. Dog friendly (in specific accommodations). Miles of well maintained hiking trails. World class golf course that blends in to and flows with the natural land features. Consistently top notch cuisine, especially when compared to other 5-star resorts in this part of the country. This place gets better every year despite already being great. Will definitely be back.

Wow. Very hard to describe in words what an amazing experience this place is. We came in for 1 night to celebrate my husband's birthday and didn't want to leave. The property is stunning, the room (pinnacles) was absolutely breathtaking with these views... Pool is beautiful and relaxing, yoga class was great, we tool a golf clinic which was fun experience. We had wonderful dinner at the Elements where they have Vegan options and were very accommodating. After dinner we walked to the room and the field was full of blue fireflies... You can't get better than this.
Completely worth the price. You don't pay for the room but for the experience. And most importantly, the staff are wonderful!!! Will definitely come back for longer. Thanks for having us.

This place is beautiful and the course is great... unfortunately the rest is not worth what they charge. Expectations of a 5 star $1000/night resort should have much better organization. We met a couple really good bartenders but the management was average at best. . I would give this maybe a 4 star but not 5! A lot more resorts with just as good golf and scenery that I would choose over Primlin.
