The store is full of souvenirs and garden statues and food. Very pricey for value. The best apple hand pies ever. The staff seemed put off and unhelpful.

Stop here for groceries, clothing, pocket knives, jewelry, and more! We stopped in for molasses and left with grits, cheese, and preserves. The store is packed with items so you are bound to find what you need and what you didn't know you wanted/needed. The employee working the counter was friendly and efficient. Masks and social distancing is required. Prices are reasonable and the store is well organized. We recommend this store to others!

Wonderful food, wonderful gifts, wonderful people! We love to go up on a warm afternoon, eat, and hang out on the porch. All deli food is good. Personal favorites are hotdogs, pimento cheese sandwiches, and fried pies. Highly recommend.

We have been going to the Poor Farmers Market for years. Never gets old with us. Last visit it was the only place open for us to eat. The food was delicious and we ate out on the porch and watched people go in and out.

When I was a kid in the 1970s we would come up to Meadows of Dan a lot. It did look much different than it does today. This store wasn't here, the building was. I love this little place. It's about two hours from my house and I'll make this drive or ride a couple of tmes a year. Last Saturday my dad and I were up there. I actually had not intended to stop but, as I drove by I saw some wonderful looking slicing tomatoes for sale in the front. We stopped and bought some, as well as a few fried apple pies. The tomatoes are amazing. One slice covers a whole slice of bread and they taste great on a "mater sammich". This is a good little stop in country store. I hope it never goes away, or at least not in my lifetime.

Just off the parkway. Great place to stop and take a break and rest. I recommend the Cornbread salad...

We stopped here while traveling along the blue ridge parkway. One of many little shops in this small town. Had to have a milkshake which was great . Lots of trinkets for tHose collectors along with food and jelly. If you're in the area you should stop by and say hello.

Outside is a farmers market with fresh produce, some local, some not (bananas). inside you will find a WIDE variety of merchandise from clothing, hoop cheese, decor, apple butter, grits to socks. There's also cold drinks, a grill, ice cream, candy and gasoline pumps. If you can't find it here you likely don't need it. There are a number of cash registers throughout the multiple rooms full of goods. These are sort of arranged by categories, but then all mixed together side by side. This makes shopping an adventure.

The market was a nice place to stop and have a break to walk around and enjoy the weather. The kids loved it. Lots of treasures and decent options for sandwiches and snacks. We took a few pictures outside with all of the pumpkins they had on display and had a little picnic before taking off on The Blue Ridge Parkway again. We definitely recommend stopping in if you're in the area.

Cool store to check out right off the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's packed full of all kinds of mountain stuff, gifts, souvenirs, jams, jellies, produce, candy, ciders, clothing, and they have a big assortment of Lodge cast iron cook wear. They also have a little kitchen in the back where they offer sandwiches and scratch made biscuits and homemade breads, fried pies and a bunch of other stuff. There's no seating inside, there are some tables, rockin' chairs and benches outside if you want to sit and eat. From the kitchen I ordered a ham, egg & cheese biscuit and got a little container of their banana puddin'. The biscuit was great, the nanner puddin' was ok, I also got a couple of their no bake chocolate oatmeal cookies for the road which were awesome, they call them "Preachers Cookies" here, I always knew them as "Cow Patties"... really neat place.
