Day 1 you think the team is great, helpful, kind, etc. I’m now 45 day post sale and this has been the worst, sloppiest team I’ve ever worked with. My guess is they are overwhelmed and overworked but you are basically handed off to a half wit assistant (in my case a Carmin Newman) who could literally not read and struggled to get anything correct. I constantly was triple checking what she said always to find out she was wrong, she would call me back to back even after I had repeatedly said I was in meetings. When I got my final paperwork it was all incorrect too, none of my numbers matched and they had sold a loan with no mortgage ins then tried to force me to accept mortgage insurance language the day I was closing. Sloppy Carmin kept saying this like “it’s ok to just sign it, we won’t charge it to you, we just need it to go like this to the approved.” Huh, that’s mortgage fraud? Fortunately my incredible realtor stepped in and got the language removed. Then, after they sold my loan immediately (so it’s clear they can’t even be trusted to get you the best rate) they didn’t pass any of my info correctly to the new lender. When I asked this team for support, sloppy Carmin immediately replied that my payment wasn’t due for another month. I asked her again to confirm that and she says “oh ya, my slip up.” Still haven’t been able to make my first payment.

Steve Fox is a great guy to work with when it comes to borrowing a loan. He is responsive, flexible, quick to searching loan options, and able to make adjustments quickly. I enjoyed working with him and their loan process is streamlined as things are well communicated through their website/app. Heather Zalis is a loan processor and has a great personality to work with. This mortgage company/team is definitely working together to satisfy the needs of a client.

This review is for Daniel Carte - mortgage loan officer at First Savings Mortgage. I had used Daniel to buy my condo in 2019 and to refinance in 2021. Oct/Nov 2022, I used him to purchase my first SFH when rates were skyrocketing. I had great experiences with him previously and was happy to use him again as he was able to match or beat other quotes before. While I was in the middle of switch jobs and moving, I asked him for different loan type quotes, but asked that he used the same purchase price and down amount for an apples to apples comparison (obviously). I trusted him and in my haste to initiate the process, did not see that he manipulated the quotes to make it look like the ARMs were the better deal. He was heavily pushing them. I only agreed to initiate the process with the understanding that I can still shop around for quotes (as I did the previous times) and switch to a traditional loan if needed. When I had time to review everything, I asked for new apples to apples quotes for the loan types and gave him other quotes to match. Rates were fluctuating so I needed updated numbers regardless.He went jekyll and hyde on me - became angry and asked why I didn't trust him and why I was worried about "doomsday" - rates will go down and I should stick with the ARM. Apparently he did not learn anything from the 08/09 financial crisis. He said he was going on vacation and went from texting me all hours to not responding to any of calls, emails, or texts when I was closing in less than 2 weeks. He made up "explanations" about how hard it was to get new quotes from his "moody secondary market managers" and that it's not easy to do. He is unstable, untrustworthy, and unreliable. Upon talking to others, I discovered this is a pattern for him. He apparently texted someone I know "f you" when the person decided to go with a lower quote lender. Acts nice at first, but is unstable - go with someone else.

My family and I relocated from Colorado and was recommended Greg Simmons by our realtor. From our very first meeting, I knew Greg was the right choice. Very responsive and thorough communication from the start and he and and his support team made the loan process so easy for us which was particularly important with my family’s busy schedules. We unfortunately dealt with difficult sellers which extended our closing time much longer than anticipated, but Greg worked with us to find the best resolutions possible. I highly recommend Greg and his team!

We can't say enough good things about Steve Fox. He gave us the best deal, was super easy to work with, incredibly helpful. And a really great guy to boot. Would highly recommend him and will absolutely use him when we buy our another property.

Eddie, Christopher, and Min in particular made the loan process smooth and were super fast to reply, even at odd hours and on weekends. Very grateful for the team and their ability to help with a quick closing. Communication and transparency were all positive experiences, which we are grateful for.

I was able to get it on my first try! I traded with crypto cast, a Super amazing platform, easy to use, and quick withdrawal, with the help of Wells Carlton who managed my account and traded using MT4. I will keep blessing and praising him, I made another withdrawal again yesterday. He's only reliable I will recommend to anyone. Everything was so easy than I thought. thanks again Wells Carlton

We used First Savings Mortgage to buy our first home in Alexandria, VA. Our loan officer, Chris Cox, was superb. He's super responsive and knowledgeable. He broke down every cost associated with purchasing a home. Their online portal made it super easy to get everything uploaded to one place. Would 100% use them again for our next property in Northern Virginia!

After I submitted my prequalification application, I received no contact until I received a form denial letter 9 days later stating my income did not support the requested loan. I came through the Virginia Housing program; it would have made sense to speak with me about whether I might qualify for a smaller loan, or what other steps I might take to qualify in the future. I'm fine with being denied, but I find the lack of personal contact unprofessional. Every other lender has spoken to me about what adjustments might be needed; I suppose First Savings doesn't want your business if it requires any effort on their part.

I just completed my second home loan application and closing process through First Savings. Thad Wise and his team supported me through both purchases and made the process quick and easy. Their online portal makes sharing documents simple and secure, and Thad's team is very communicative - even through the weekends. Special thanks to Eddie for getting our preapproval letter done last minute and on the weekend.

Steve Fox and the rest of the team at First Savings were indispensable to our home search and purchase. After having a not-so-great experience with our bank’s lending service, our realtor directed us to several local lenders, including First Savings. It was a short search, however, because we were immediately impressed with Steve’s responsiveness and thoroughness. Steve did an excellent job walking us through the mortgage process and taking the time to understand our situation to find us the best rate possible. We particularly appreciated their mortgage calculations, which greatly aided our search by accurately estimating monthly payments and upfront closing costs. They were also incredibly responsive to our inquiries and requests for pre-approval letters for offers, oftentimes on short notice! When one of our offers was eventually accepted, the loan paperwork and appraisal were completed in a timely fashion and closings costs ended up being the exact estimated amount. We could not be more pleased with Steve and First Savings Mortgage!

I attended a first time home buyers seminar Greg did way back in 2016 and 5 years later he helped me through every step of making my home ownership dream come true! Professional, personal service, I asked a million questions even after settlement day and Greg and his team have always been so helpful.
