I think that if half stars existed, I would give the visitor center 3.5 stars. As noted by a previous reviewer there is definitely some historical information in the center, but overall it felt more like a gift shop. The items available for sale were local which was great, but if you're interested in art or crafts, then the community arts center down the road was a better stop. The center is otherwise well kept and convenient on the main street of Mathews.

Excellent visitor center. Loved the gift shop filled with items from local artists. A nice slice of local history in the back room.

Nice visitor's center with brochures and hand made items by local artists for sale. Has some local antique items and fossils on display as well.
