Holland did our taxes for our company for the first 2 years. They seemed to be ok and Holland Tax Service was promptly paid over $5000 for their services. In 2023 I was contacted by the owner Fay Holland late on Friday night stating she needed me to pay her $2400 in the form of a retainer. I asked her what was the retainer for and she told me it was for miscellaneous preparations she needed for my upcoming tax returns. I stated to her that I never heard of a CPA getting a retainer and I would think about. By Monday she has sent me multiple text messages stating her bank account was messed up and I should Zelle money into her son’s account. I found this to be inappropriate as I just can’t transfer money from a corporate bank account into someone’s personal account. When I refused to do so, Fay Holland seemed to be upset stating she had was depending on that payment as she had already wrote a check for something else. This was disturbing to say the least. I refused to pay anything as no work had been done on my accounts. She contacted me again in December. I met with her to talk about business accounts. She told me she was involved in a private cause and needed donations for such and then requested another $2400 retainer. I asked to see what work had been done. She was unable to provide anything. As she has always seemed to be a Christian lady I reluctantly wrote her a check for $1200 in which she promptly cashed. I did express my reluctance to do so to her but did it anyway. Over Christmas she messaged me at 5:30 am wanting another $1200. I told her no and that I would stop by her office to see what work had been done and we would talk. This apparently made her angry and defensive saying that is not the way she bills. She told me to pick my past banking paperwork up and she didn’t want to continue working with me. When I requested a refund of the $1200 she refused. She stilled has not been able to provide any proof of works. Do NOT give this company money up front!

If I can give 0 star I would. We used this place for our tax 2019 and there was another lady who did it smoothly. We were happy so went back to this place found out the same person is not there but owner was like I can do it so we go ahead worked with her only to find out she did few things wrong 2020 tax. Also she didn’t give us one document back for next year tax we needed it so I called and asked to send the document, it took her almost a month and half to send the document also asked me to pay for the copy. During that time we called her so many times and top of that the document should’ve been included in original documents but she didn’t include it and charged us to give it to us. When we do 2021 tax our new tax person saw the 2020 file which she did and found so many errors!!! It was painful to deal with her, if you have more than individual tax like rentals and business don’t work with her at all save your time and money most of that your energy ?

One thing you look for in an accounting firm is credibility, reliability and accuracy. Unfortunately you can expect none of that from Faye Holland. Run far, run fast.

I chose Holland Tax and Business Solutions based upon their reviews. Unfortunately my experience was terrible from start to finish. I called and made an appointment to meet with Faye Holland. Prior to setting the appointment, I verified that she was able to handle an out-of-state return. During our meeting I again verified that she was able to prepare and out-of-state return and we discussed my situation. I provided an itemized list of expenses and supporting documentation, and we discussed several times that I work remotely in a different state. She asked for some additional information which I told her I would email to her. She said once she had that information it should only take her a couple of days to prepare my returns. Upon leaving I asked for her business card - she handed me a general company card and wrote what appeared to be her personal email address on the back of the card. Red flag #1.A week later I had not heard from her, so I called her office and emailed her. She said she had gotten "distracted" and had not yet started on my returns, but assured me she'd start working on it and let me know when they were completed. Red flag #2. I let her know I would be in Maine for a week and available to stop by upon my return. 3 days went by after I got back and I heard nothing. I then had an "urgent" voicemail from Faye, and when I returned her call a couple of hours later, she had left for the day (3:00 on a Friday). Her receptionist told me she'd probably be back in the office that night and would give me a call. Two calls from me and two or three increasingly frantic emails later and I finally heard back. She said she was not happy with the totals she was getting and asked me for expenses I had already provided. Red flag #3. She said she would call me later that afternoon with revised totals. Crickets. I called her the next morning and she provided my totals.I stopped by to sign and pick up my returns, documentation and payment vouchers yesterday. Nothing was explained to me about what I was signing, and I was not provided the opportunity to go over the returns with Faye. I also asked if I would be receiving some sort of notification that the returns had been filed and accepted by the IRS, and was told no, but to check the website in 2-3 days. I simply paid for her services and left, assuming the accuracy of what she prepared. Big mistake. I went in today to prepare my payments, only to find out that she prepared the state return for the WRONG state! We are past red flags at this point. I immediately emailed her being that it's the weekend, and she immediately emailed me back placing the blame on me because she had forgotten. My out-of-state address is on my 1099 and literally every other piece of supporting documentation & tax form I provided to her, and refer to our initial conversation. She also failed to return half of the original documentation I provided to her (including my 1099), as well as a Schedule C with an itemized deduction breakdown. She said it was a simple fix and she would prepare an amendment for me to come back and sign and a new amount for state. After emailing a couple more times without any response, I asked her not to prepare anything further. A phone call would have been much appreciated, rather than combative emails - seriously unprofessional. At this point, I don't know what has or hasn't been filed, or what I actually owe and today is the deadline. What is abundantly clear is that my business was not at all valued and frankly, I'm not sure it was even wanted. Shame on me for ignoring the many red flags. I do not recommend this company.
