I like Carter Bank however the drive thru is always sooo slow. It always takes an average of 10 minutes per car, which is ridiculous. I arrived at 2:00 today with three cars in front of me. I got to the window at 2:30. It was only one person working the two lanes and she was very slow. It took five minutes for me to make a cash deposit. That’s unacceptable.

Gerald Carter runs a great bank because he cares so much about the people of Henry County and Southside Virginia.

Today, I went to Carter Bank to visit about some different account options, as I'm new to the area and looking for a new bank... Chelsie, the Assistant Branch Manager helped me with literally everything i needed... She was so incredibly helpful... If I could give an A++++ I would... She answered all of my questions and helped me set everything up... She was very patient and addressed all of my concerns, helped walk me through set ups, transfers, etc. I would 100% recommend this bank.Thank you, Chelsie, for taking the time and for excellent customer service; it goes a long way...

I have lived in Martinsville Va since 2021. I've NEVER had a bad experience with my bank! This morning I visited and had the most beautiful experience. Three ladies took time from their busy day to chat with me and help me. This establishment is all about people, not just money. Thank you so big to Liz Hankins, Ashley Cassell and Chelsie Pickerel for making my day! I can't wait till my next visit.

I'm supposed to be set where my account cannot be overdrafted but twice now they have let it and charged fees that had to be returned to my account. This is stressful and ridiculous.

My retired boyfriend has a decent-sized savings account and IRA at Carter Bank. He was charged a $3.00 fee in July because he's had no activity on the account for a year. A SAVINGS ACCOUNT. FOR SAVING. NOT TO BE TOUCHED. So we got the letter about it in August, and decided to do an electronic transfer from his other bank to Carter. Imagine our surprise when we found out in this month's statement that CARTER BANK DOES NOT COUNT ELECTRONIC TRANSACTIONS AS ACTIVITY in this case. We could do digital deposits all year long, and still get charged a fee, because those transactions are not considered activity. Why? What's the reason? In this current climate, not recognizing digital transactions as legitimate activity is definitely not "caring" in any way. What about people who are homebound? Or people who choose not to go out because of Covid? The rep we called said we could mail a check in. Seriously? That's your answer? That's a shame. I think he's decided to close both of his accounts over this small fee. Carter Bank, you're definitely not living up to your company slogan.

Will lie to you on the phone, ignore your phone calls, and screw up your loans. If my only choice was a loan through Carter Bank and Trust for a Home loan, I would Rent...

We put a large amount in a 5 year CD. A few months before it matured we called to see exactly when it matured. We saw it had not grew any intrest. In April 2019 our intrest was taken out & put in our savings. Intrest since then , is also been converted to our savings. We never gave permission for this or signed any thing to allow this. I went in the galax branch that April to get the manager to notarize an iou statement is all. My CD was never even brought up. As a matter of fact he treated me like I wasn't worthy to come in. Really rude. Now we find out it was that same month when our CD intrest was removed to savings. He had to do it. Who else would and why? Then the main corporate office told me I had got the intrest out and he couldn't find anything that was showing it was put in my savings. After talking to him a few minutes I told him its in my book showing that it was. Then he says no I'm looking again and. Ooh yeah I see it now. It was. (Fishy.) Now they are cutting out the books they write our transaction in we bring there. Soon I was told by a mt. Airy branch. They have cost me a lot of intrest by doing this to us they claim their fixing it. Its been going on 2 months. They're giving me the run around. They leave messages on a phone I told I'm never on a lot. And none on my home phone where I'm at all the time.

I usually deal with the bank in collinsville, only thing I have to say is ar times they don't have enough people at the counter and you have to wait for about 5or 10 minutes. Martinsville drive through windows are very slow
