I came to get some tires on Saturday before 6pm and they were already closed even though it says they close at 11pm, and they don't know that pm is in the afternoon and not in the morning , they should update their schedule because even at their door says pm, not only online ?

These were some of the kindest people we’ve met in a while! We’ve been having quite a bad experience with RV tire issues and have been stuck in this area with roadside assistance unable to help us. My family is so thankful we found this shop- they were able to help us with very quick and well-priced service. The owner was so nice, shared some interesting stories with us, and showed us so much kindness. Thank you so much!!

Called for an installation of 4 new tires on my truck. They indicate it’ll take about an hour to get to me. The showroom is large and accommodating. The sales person was friendly.

We had a flat tire and went there by the tow truck guy recommendation. We are glad we did. Mr Thompson was wonderful, polite , kind and explained the problem and offered options. But that was just about his profession. He was so knowledgeable about the local history and took time to talk to us about it. Amazing facts that all companies for Mountain Dew , Dr Pepper and Arm and Hammer originated from around Marion area?. I recommend that tourists interested in local history of Lower Virginia stop for tire pressure check and talk to amazing Mr Thompson.

Here is the service ticket for the inspection Thompson Tire of Wytheville done along with photos of the front tire and rear wheel. They put a reject sticker on this vehicle as detailed on their own paperwork citing tires, rear pads and rotors.
The tires are nearly brand new and are not worn unevenly or into the wear bars. They certainly aren’t less than 2/32” which is the state inspection requirement of VA.
There’s hardly any wear on the rotors and upon visible inspection of pads, it’s clear they are nowhere near a failing measurement which is also 2/32” thickness and the rotors are fine.
Whenever we questioned this inspection, after Thompson’s tried to sell us a full set of tires and brake work, they became rather snippy, rude and defensive. I also pointed out on the second page of their invoice that they had only failed inspection on tires, not breaks or rotors. This is inconsistent with the description on the first page. They couldn’t provide the exact measurement, nor did they know what the state requirement for minimum inspection was when asked. They put a rejection sticker on the car refusing to measure the tread on the tires or the thickness of the brake pads.
Thompson tire in Wytheville is apparently just as dishonest as the one in Marion. All they want is to find something wrong on your inspection that isn’t wrong at all and then hope you take the bait when they try to sell you hundreds of dollars worth of other unnecessary services in exchange for a passing inspection.
Next time y’all try to “mansplain” something, you might want to make sure the person you’re trying to hook doesn’t know more about it than you do and didn’t previously inspect vehicles!
We took the vehicle to another shop and had no problem passing state inspection. I don’t recommend Thompson tire unless you like shelling out hundreds in a necessary repairs.

This place was truly my saving grace today! Not only where they super helpful and fast with service, they even had a tire for my Volkswagen in stock. I was traveling for a wedding and would highly recommend to any one in the area, these guys price so reasonable and treat you like family. Tire change service, super fast!

Motor home had tire damage found Thompson Tire and was treated like family! The owner searched the internet for our strange tire size and had it delivered faster than expected! Offered us a safe place to park our home and had the tire on as soon as it was delivered checked our motor home out to make sure we were going to get back on the road and be safe again! Definitely will be back when we are in Marion Virginia if anything just to say hello! Thank you again Thompson Tire ❤️
