My son had attended this daycare/preschool since he was 2 years old and he is now 5 and headed to kindergarten. He has built amazing relationships. I love the teachers he’s worked with and trust that my baby is in great care while I work. Now I am about to send my youngest son. Sending your children to daycare isn’t easy but they make it an easier transition.

Had a scheduled tour at 1030am at this location. We arrived 5 minutes early waited outside the door more than 20 minutes passed our scheduled time no one was upfront to buzz us in . We called twice as well no one answered or even returned our call that’s just unprofessional especially with this being a daycare. Also a parent walked out held the door for us to go in but we told them no because we are new and not sure if he would have gotten in trouble for letting us in but what if we were someone else with ill intentions definitely showed lack of security here.

We have enrolled our daughter for the past year here at the Gardner school of manassas. The amount of academic and social growth she has had is incredible. I am so glad that we chose this daycare to enroll our daughter in. They provide extra curriculum to include music, dance, and yoga as well. I ultimately am thankful for the family-oriented full communication approach they promote; making it feel like my daughters with family. Thank you for all that you do to support her and our family!

My 4 year old son has been attending The Compass School for a little over a year. I was hesitant about transferring schools despite being unhappy with his last school. A lot of the parents from his previous school shared my concerns but told me I shouldn't expect too much from any daycare because the staff is never properly trained and administrative staff usually don't care but so much. I figured better the devil I know then the one I don't but after a series of ridiculous, avoidable and neglectful incidents I made the leap to The Compass School. This has been one of the best decision as a mother that I have made for my son and I wish I had known about this school years ago.To start, the Administrative staff CARE about the children and their families. Not the kind of care where they nod and smile at your request or say whatever it is you want to hear but genuinely care. I have never walked in without hearing a hello from them or left without hearing a goodbye. If my son misses a day at school due to an illness, I either receive a text/phone call from the staff checking on him.The teachers, my favorite part, are amazing. I've been blessed to have teachers who have entertained my crazy motherly request. They've been so observant and hands on that it often feels like I'm co-parenting with them and that is such a blessing. Everyday I receive pictures of how my son's day went and every week he brings home a journal that shares what they did during the week. The school is Reggio Emilia inspired which I love. They follow the interest of the children and expand it into an actual curriculum. So if the kids want to learn about dinosaurs they learn about dinosaurs while the teachers incorporate math, history, science and art. They also have annual reviews to let you know how your children are doing and they are very THOROUGH! I feel like I'm building a super human with their help.Throughout the year they have many events and they're during different parts of the day so if you can't attend one there is surely another one for you coming up. The events are breakfast, lunch, dinner, ice cream, pizza, book fairs etc I've met some awesome moms during these events. Meeting these other mothers have helped with play dates, parenting advice and so much more. There is also no guessing as to what their lunch is because they provide parents with a menu every month and if anything is changed you know before your child is eating it. BTW, there is a vegetarian option and I know first hand they work closely and diligently with parents whose children have allergies or are on a vegan diet. Also,I work in Public Safety so the fact that they are almost always open is extremely helpful.Overall, I would and have recommended this school to all of my family and friends looking for childcare. They're staff is so well trained that a lot of them babysit on the side to allow parents to take that date night. You shouldn't have to settle when it comes to the care of your children. I wish I had found this school sooner and that they continued on past Kindergarten but I'm very happy and not in a complacent way. My son told me to tell you he likes the school too.

We have had a great experience at The Compass School. It is a nurturing environment where all the teachers and staff we have encountered have shown they truly care about the development and well being of our son, and our family. Our son has a physical disability that affects his gross motor skills, his mobility and his speech development. His teachers have been willing to work with us in accommodating his needs to allow him to participate fully and develop along with his peers. He has made great strides in improving his motor skills and speech, and we owe a large debt to the care and commitment of everyone at Compass for helping our little guy to succeed.

My name is Neal Bailey-Harper. I am the owner of the Mr B. Music and Drama program. I have been teaching music and movement at the compass school every Friday for five years. While I teach at numerous preschools in the DMV area, the energy and engagement and genuine sincerity of the staff at the school I find second to none. I highly recommend the environment for any child in this area. It’s a pretty cool place.

Where to begin! We have been with Compass for over 4 years now. My first started at 8 weeks, my second at 11 weeks. I have formed personal relationships with nearly ALL teachers and staff members at this school. Teachers that have never even taught my kids know them by name and say hi and bye to us. Every day at pick up I get a personal story about something silly my kids do. They really care and pay attention to each kid as an individual. On top of an overall amazing and safe learning environment for my kids, they have been able to cater to my children and their multiple food allergies (milk, peanuts, eggs and sesame.) I couldn't begin to list all of the great staff/teachers because it's basically everyone... haha Some have come and gone, but they consistently hire highly qualified people with the biggest hearts. We love The Compass School and are forever grateful for everything they have done for our two boys. HIGHLY recommend them... obviously. =)

My 3 year old has attended The Compass School for only 6 months and is loving it! The weekly journal from the teachers and daily pictures allow me to see what they are learning about in class each day. The teachers are there to provide positive influences on the children but allow the kids to make decisions on their own which I find empowering for my child. The children learn everything from letters and art to creating their own little garden. It’s great to see how broad the curriculum is so that it’s not all focused in the classroom. The facility is always clean and even offers coffee to go for those of us needing an extra pick up after drop off. My child did struggle at first with being dropped off, but the teachers and administrators kept me updated on the progress my child made. Now my child pushes me out the door of the classroom to hurry and leave so they can start their school time. I would highly recommend this school!

The Compass School provides all of the benefits of a traditional day care center with a focus on a unique Reggio curriculum. Our children have thrived in this environment! We had a few issues adjusting our older child, who had transitioned from another facility when she was almost 3. However, the administration is extremely responsive to feedback and takes time to listen to parent concerns. That made all the difference for us. Teachers are energetic and also responsive to parent feedback. We especially love the daily updates and journals that the teachers fill out to document the children's activities and progress. There is a special emphasis on art and creativity, which is executed beautifully by their full time art teacher. We hope to be part of this school for as long as our family is here in the Manassas area.

Hands down an amazing school. I have 2 children attending for the last few months. As an early childhood teacher, I consider myself extremely picky about childcare facilities. Not only are the teachers loving and caring, but my children are doing wonderful, meaningful academic activities that they truly enjoy. I have been so happy with our choice, so much so I am willing to drive 23 minutes each way in order for my children to attend which allows me to feel at ease knowing they are loved and well taken care of. A wonderful school with sweet teachers and fantastic administration and support staff.

My kids have gone to Compass School since they were infants. My oldest is now in kindergarten and I feel like she was very prepared socially, emotionally, and academically to start elementary school. All of the teachers are great and truly care about the kids. The activities are child-centered and there's an emphasis on imaginative play and using found materials to create new things. We looked at a few daycares/preschools in the area and I know we made the right choice.

It is very hard to find a daycare that you can trust. My husband and I are so thankful and lucky to have found the Compass School. Our boys have been there since they were in the Infants classroom and they are currently in the toddler and two’s classroom. The teachers work hard to take great care of our boys. They are always working on different projects that gives them a chance to do something hands-on. The school creates a loving environment for the children with a great structure and routine, but lots of learning through play. We receive daily highlights as well as a journal at the end of the week detailing their activities. This is a book that the boys will keep and cherish forever. We highly recommend the Compass School.

At first we were all very satisfied. My child loved the first two teachers and enjoyed school. We decided to leave because as of recently there seemed to be little organization in the room including control over the restrooms and a lack of communication among staff members. We discussed our concerns on several occasions with the director resulting in some minor changes. Overall our expectations were not met. Great program ideas and some really amazing staff/teachers.

My girls started Compass a month ago and have learned so much. The activities in the Trailblazer class has helped my two year olds motor skills. Her confidence has grown so she's not afraid to try new things. Some days, she doesn't want to leave. My second is in the Pathfinder class. In one month she went from barely walking.... to talking, walking and dancing! She has also learned to play nicely with other children :)
