Plenty of parking. Clean bathrooms.Reasonable fees for daily/monthly/yearly membership.Diversity of machines and cardio options is appealing.Indoor basketball courts and pools for swimming available.Front desk is generally responsive to broken machines or facility complaints.I wish the cleaning staff cleaned the dust better everywhere so we don't risk breathing it in.

As a newer member of the gym facilities I've been very much enjoying the actual interior of the place. It is very tidy and clean overall the staff that cleans up does a fantastic job with keeping it clean. However, one of the big disappointments for me is the staff themselves are disrespectful to the patrons. The management running the place just seem to be in disarray compared to the actual staff that puts in the work keeping the place running. When approaching the staff about issues they emit this toxic "bro culture" towards others around them. I don't think I will be returning to this gym as I don't feel its members are treated as they should be.

This place is great…until it’s not. They close randomly. Don’t even update the hours on maps. Not reliable if you have to check the website, call or go there to find out they are closed temporarily.

It was ok. I swam in the pool and it was not aesthetic. Maybe it should be less non aesthetic

I was pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of this venue. The pools cater to all age groups with ample room, and the inclusion of a gym and basketball courts is impressive. The membership costs are quite reasonable considering the wide range of activities available for enjoyment.

I absolutely love this place, everything is extremely clean and the facilities are amazing! I love all the different things you are able to do, everyone is very welcoming and it has a very positive and supportive atmosphere. I’m always extremely motivated to hit the gym because of this place 5/5 ?

I have been going to the Freedom Center since 2018. I love the group classes, the indoor pool, and indoor track. They also have a great weight room and cardio room. The facility is always clean and the staff is very welcoming. I feel like I am a part of the gym rather than just a membership.

In a group of many large buildings, this bit run down health center holds many sport activities! Enter in, and it smells like strong chlorine since the pool is right by. You have to pay a fee to use any of the equipment and facility perks! I believe its $8 a day and or $25 for 8 punches. I checked out their open volleyball gym! To get access, apparently they limit to 39 people per session; you pick up passes (as early as an hour and 15 mins prior) to get a spot. Competition isn't bad; there are various levels and people that come out to play. The lobby are is a bit dim but the staff are helpful! Would come back for volleyball and to perhaps check out their gym / pool. Not my first choice but its a spot for nearby locals to check out! 6.4/10 recommend!

I had to go to many different pools for swim and I have to say, Freedom is the best pool in VA. It’s cold, clean, and has depth variety. Basketball court is great but the gym (weightlifting) is a little small.

Have been working out here since 2017. Has to be the best gym I’ve ever seen. Lots of excellent classes, energetic Instructors, and even after COVID-19. Sauna is roasting hot, and perfect to relax in. Wading pool good temperature. Could be used as a real life Globogym.

If you joined to swim, don't count on it. Out of approximately 18 lanes, 12 are almost always taken by swim teams, leaving 6 lanes for everyone else. If you're in one of the 12 lanes at the far end of the pool, you're often asked to leave so the swim teams can take it. Today I waited for a lane to open and was in the lane next to the shallow end. Guess what? They told me to leave, removed the lane divider, and expanded the exercise class. 5 lanes left for everyone else, and they're taken. Another day to add to the list of days I've been there to swim but couldn't. It's like the airlines double booking seats. The freedom hating aquatic center has a real attitude about it. Regular members don't count. Just get out of your lane. $60 per month and they don't care.

We originally wanted to go to cub run today, but it was closed for swim lessons. Enter: plan b!My 4 year old loved their little leisure pool, which was not crowded at all! The whole facility is very clean and nice, and it's affiliated with GMU. People from Mason were practicing things like color guard in some of the spaces. The rec center also looks like the run a daycare for parents who work out, so you might want to check it out if you live in PWC.The cost was $10 for adults and $7 for kids. It's the same for those inside and outside of the county. The pool area features:-a big lap pool-a "beach" going in to the leisure pool-splash buckets that topple over!-a "lazy channel"--a very miniature lazy river. It goes pretty slow. Too lazy for us!-a hot tub-a whirlpool section with jets that push you around in a circle! This was my daughter's favorite part!-a very fun looking slide with twists and turns. Must be 48 inches to ride, but it wasn't on today anyway. Not a bad plan B on a cold January day :)

Nice place, great for GMU students. Not so sure about the safety of the swimming pool water + drinking water. The whole place reeks of chemicals and bleach.. the drinking water even tastes like the pool water ?

It's a big facility. You get a gym, basketball court, swimming pool, big changing rooms, saunas and a jacuzzi and a physiotherapist. But here's why I can't give the facility 5 stars. Too many knobheads at the pool. Taking up the lanes and not even swimming. I know what they do is a form of exercise but like come on, use the big area beside the lanes and let people swim like. They also be complaining about getting a tiny splash of water on their faces like. Next big downside is the showers. There's no cold showers. They're all very hot showers. Should invest in those cold showers. Apart from that, it's a decent place with a decent price for memberships.

I have been coming to the Freedom Center since 2018 when I was a Mason student. (GMU students and staff are eligible for a free membership) I learned to swim here with the help of a swim class they offered for adults. I love to use especially the cardio room, which is separate from the weight room, which I love, and I love to swim in the pool. The pool is usually pretty empty when I am there (usually mid morning early afternoon on weekdays). The classes are great, there is usually always space to stretch in the hallway that is semi-private. As an introvert, I appreciate this during my exercise. If you don't like children though, (or are just a "Karen"), maybe find another gym because the freedom center will have summer camps, swim meets, and other community programs with kids.
