Went n this shop with burnt up alternator I paid over 300 for lasted about 6 months 220 amp they sold me a 250 amp for less work like a champ owner very knowledgeable and helpful would recommend this shop to anyone

Old school and very very rare breed. He is great in terms of fixing things, have a HUGE heart in terms of explaining and sharing things. Any issues with a starter or an alternator and you want to get it rebuild or fixed, he is the guy. Way better than getting a re-manufactured or an expensive new part. Thank you, once again wizard.

Steven is pretty knowledgeable about his business. Steven did a good job on my alternator rebuild, but it took him a month to complete. This is because Stephen’s business is a one man band. If you can wait for your starter or alternator rebuild, Steven is a good choice because he didn’t overcharge for his service. Overall nice guy.

Stephen was very helpful and interesting to talk to. He helped me with my alternator honestly. He let me know it was not bad and even took the time to educate me even more without cost. He charged me nothing!Old school service.

I hate to write this review especially the owner/tech was extremely nice and helpful. My outboard hit bottom and just clicks but not start. An outboard repair shop diag the problem to my starter. I was a bit doubtful since the starter should not be effected. I drove 1+ hr from MD to the shop. He tested the starter, showed me some aftermarket options, charged me $10 and told me my starter is in good working condition. The outboard repair shop labor was $400 and told me they would not charge me if it's not the starter. It took me less than 1hr to remove the starter but I rather get stuck with a $400 labor than a $800 starter that I can't return online. The outboard repair shop replaced the starter and starts every time with no problem. Now I'm lost 3+ hrs of my life, $10 test fee and $400 labor that I could've done myself under 1hr. I really wished I could've gave a better rating for the good customer service.

Central Alternators and Starters is the real deal - Steve is brilliant, patient, and honest. He has a passion and sense of customer service that I have rarely seen in NoVA. He gave up at least an hour of his time to talk about the starting system on my classic VW Beetle; this car is a real Frankenstein (64 body, 64 wiring, 67 engine and tranny, alternator, 12V conversion, etc, etc, and he helped me work through my starter, my ring gear specs, power required, etc, etc. He ultimately put my starter on his bench, took it apart, inspected it, and tested it, all while I stood there and watched. When it passed, he wouldnt take my money, I had to slip cash under a starter on his counter. This is not your pristine, eat off the counter shop - this is a working man's shop run by a car guy who has forgotten more about cars than I will ever know. I have rebuilt engines, transmissions, brake systems, rewired a classic Mustang, done interiors, etc and have degrees in aero engineering and physics - Steve got out a pad of paper and took me to auto electrical school, plus threw in some alligator clips so I could build new test leads at home. Oh by the way, all this at no charge.... he then said to call him on his cell if I got stuck. Don't come here if you are the guy who gets his wipers installed at Advance Auto; if you are a handy DIY person who hates throwing away stuff that can be fixed, then Steve is your guy.

Steve is the best. He can fix almost any auto starter, alternator or generator, and in most cases while you wait. Shop is not the neatest, but can be easily overlooked when considering his skill and prices and turnaround time.

Great place to go to if you need a starter or alternator rebuilt. I had brought a 24 volt starter in for a old square body of mine and the gentleman there knew exactly what I needed and got it to me in a very timely manor. I'll definitely be sending people to this business and I'll be going back myself.
