Very comfortable hotel very close to Luray Caverns and Skyline Drive. We had the Shirling #8 suite and it was a small apartment with living room, kitchen, queen bed and large bathroom. The suite was very nicely appointed and clean. Our only complaint was that the Wi-Fi was too weak to use and I could barely get 2 Verizon bars to use a personal hotspot so we couldn’t watch tv as there’s no cable. There’s free parking behind the hotel and it’s walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops and breweries.

The hotel is being renovated at the time it's a very beautiful place and I'm not saying nothing against the motel itself it's the owner she is a very rude nasty lady. We had an agreed price for me doing some tree work for her which was $1,200. Once I get there after driving 30 miles she changes her mind and says 600 back and forth we go I agree then to 800 because I have done now wasted my time and drove 30 miles so I go ahead and do the work for $800 plus all this extra that she throws in on top of the work I'm there to do she gets me to help move furniture out of the motel cutting extra limbs that were not agreed upon it was just one big limb that was supposed to be done but I ended up cutting two and hauling the wood away and after that she tried not to pay me I had to argue with her and threaten to call the law and she finally paid me $600 so she screwed me out of $600 in total so I advise against doing any work for this lady. Update: to the owner is that not what I said?
Rooms: Nothing special at the time because it was being renovated

Great place to stay in Luray, a walk from all the restaurants and shops in Old Luray. Dog friendly, large rooms with sitting area and kitchen

The hotel is beautiful and wonderfully decorated.
When we arrived on a Thursday we tried to open the sole closet in the room and the doorknob came off in my hand. I had to use a knife and put in the mechanism and turn it to get the closet open.
I called and left a message for management who replied via text within a reasonable amount of time. They said they were sorry but no one was available to help that day and perhaps they could fix it on Friday. They didn't.
All to say had I not been able to do my best MacGyver impersonation we would not have had any place to put our clothing for a 3 day/2 night stay.
We knew going in that the hotel had limited staffing which we figured would be fine because we are pretty low matainence. That said, not being able to repair a doorknob so we could open and close the only closet available to us within 2 days was more that unsatisfactory.
In addition we placed the please clean room sign on the outside door and no one serviced our rooms.
Again, the hotel was otherwise beautiful but we will not return due to the lack of service.

The check-in was delightfuly simple. We received a text with the directions to enter and door codes as well as the time they would be activated. We also received a text with dining suggestions and check out procedures. If you don't like having to interact with humans, this spot is for you!
The room was lovely and super clean. The bathroom had everything we needed and my open air wish for an extra pillow was granted via a stocked closet. The bed was bouncy and the pillows were plush. A perfect spot for an overnight visit to the caverns.

I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Laurence in Luray, Virginia and overall, it was a delightful experience. The cozy rooms were undoubtedly the highlight of my stay. Upon entering the room, I immediately felt a sense of warmth and comfort. The décor was tastefully done, creating a pleasant and inviting atmosphere. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep after a long day of exploring. The bathroom while the shower was slightly small had great amenities. However, it is worth noting that the hotel lacks certain amenities that some travelers may expect. There is no breakfast and it is self check in. Nevertheless, the convenience of having various restaurants and stores nearby more than made up for this. It was incredibly convenient to have dining options just a short walk away, allowing me to indulge in the local cuisine without having to travel far.One of the standout aspects of Hotel Laurence is its beautiful historic building. The architecture exudes charm and character, reflecting the rich history of Luray. It was a pleasure to be able to stay in such a well-preserved and iconic structure. The hotel's commitment to maintaining the integrity of the building is evident, and it adds to the overall ambiance of the establishment. In conclusion, my experience at Hotel Laurence in Luray, Virginia was largely positive. The cozy rooms provided a comfortable and relaxing stay, while the convenient location near restaurants and stores made it easy to explore the local area. Additionally, the beautiful historic building added a touch of charm to my overall experience. Despite the lack of certain amenities, I would highly recommend Hotel Laurence for a pleasant and memorable stay in Luray.

We had an absolutely delightful experience during our recent weekend stay at Hotel Laurance. From the ample parking availability to the seamless self-check-in process, everything was exceptionally convenient. The room surpassed our expectations, boasting not only beautiful aesthetics but also an impeccable level of cleanliness and comfort. The bed and pillows provided a heavenly night's sleep, and the spacious bathroom added to the overall sense of luxury. Our room offered stunning views of the downtown area against a backdrop of majestic mountains. The thoughtful amenities, such as a coffee maker in both the lobby and the room stocked with gourmet coffee pods, elevated our stay even further. Additionally, we had the pleasure of attending an event in the hotel's banquet room, which proved to be absolutely perfect in every aspect.

This looks like a bed and breakfast without the breakfast. Our entrance opened to the outside but the majority of the hotels entrances open to the inside. The inside of the hotel is beautiful, some nice sitting areas, another kitchen, coffee machines and such. But this place is totally unattended, there's no humans that work here. Everything is done by text message, it's very odd. Plus there's cameras in all the public areas so they could see what's going on I supposeVery nicely decorated, a lot of antique type of fixtures and things. Everything is large space-wise.Cleanliness was another issue , our Oven had a takeout container that had about 3 in of mold growing on the outside of it. Some of the drawers in the unit had crumbled up napkins and kleenexesDoor lock failed to let us in multiple times and even though we contacted our invisible staff, it was never fixedWould have been a lot less expensive to have stayed right up the street in a much nicer building with humans on staff

Overall a great experience. I loved the fact that coming here a little after the check in hour I was texted a code to get through the main door and into the room specifically resevered in advance. Though it is remodeled, the building layout still has its old-time feel and stairs, so be sure to take that into account if you book a second floor room. The rooms are spacious and have more in place than most modern hotels. The kitchen is a nice feature, but not something very useful for a one night stay. The bed was comfortable, but as others have said you do hear everything outside on the street, so it might be best to try and book a room in a somewhat remote corner.
