Top notch, family fun on a chilly January morning! This is not hard core off road riding, this is family fun trail riding and was a perfect family adventure. It couldn't have been a better experience for me and my family. TrailBoss Jimmy was knowledgeable and patient. Next time we will schedule time at the huge shooting range they have on site. Highly recommend!!!

I reluctantly write this review as I usually try to be positive and supportive of local small businesses.First let me say the guide was wonderful we greatly enjoyed the tour. However, the office manager was curt and rude with me. We traveled 3 hrs to take an ATV tour for our anniversary this weekend. We received a call asking us to if we can reschedule for 15 minutes later, which we politely agreed to. We arrived at the location which, from the parking lot looks like a little garage. Because we arrived 5minutes prior to the new scheduled appointment, we called the number on the side of the building to inquire about where to enter. A woman answered stating she was there, then she hung up the phone. Still confused about where to enter and whether she was the person parked in the car next to me, I called back. She then stated she was pulling into the parking lot and she still had 2 minutes to arrive and hung up on me a second time. This interaction really put a damper on my excitement, as this was my very first time riding ATVs. It also was my husband’s first time as well, which he was thoroughly disappointed with how I was treated. The office manager I believe her name is Patricia did give me an apology “here’s a bag if you feel like I’ve been rude to you” I was grateful to be able to have my first ATV ride through the mountains but unfortunately because of my first impression I would never do business with this establishment again. Which is sad because our guide and Gabriella were very pleasant to work with. ***If I’d never been hung up on twice and given such rude treatment upon arrival this would’ve been a 5 star experience.

Surprised Hubby for his birthday with another SUCCESSFUL ATV RIDE at Appalachian Adventures in Luray, VA being guided by nothing but the Best tour guide " Mr. Jimmie" himself. I love this company one of the Owners Ms. Patricia and I always talk like we never missed a beat. Family owned establishment that won't disappoint. Until next year May God continue to Bless your company & your family.Love, The Marshall's

THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN! My best friend and I took a road trip in September 2023 and Luray, VA was our first stop. We booked a two hour ATV tour as well as a two hour "Targeting" session with Appalachian Adventures. Every single person we encountered was so nice starting with Gabriella who worked so hard to accommodate our schedule and get us booked before we arrived in VA. Then we met Patricia who checked us in and gave us all the safety rules and rundown. She was funny and super friendly but definitely serious and passionate about their business! It really gives you a "Family & Friends" vibe like a true family run operation. They made every step feel personal instead of customers being treated like walking dollar signs. The gentleman that served as our targeting instructor was Tom and he was awesome. He definitely knew his craft and he was able to set us at ease but was also fun and witty. We had some great sarcasm and a lot of laughs out on the range. We would absolutely book a session with him again if we're in the area. Then we went on their ATV tour all around, up and down the mountain. Our instructor, Jim, was so patient and a pleasure to work with. The views at the top of the trail were gorgeous and we really had a blast. A word to the wise for the ATV touring...... BRING BUG SPRAY, lol. The swarms of gnats are crazy! They don't do anything to you but they're definitely annoying. Other than that, the whole experience was fantastic! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has the pleasure of visiting this area of Virginia!

Can't recommend. No thrills and way overpriced for what it is. The pre-ride speech was unnecessarily long, anecdotal, and filled with self-serving sales pitches. Some observations follow. We booked a 2-hour ATV ride. It's more like 90 mins of riding because the first 15 minutes is all about getting helmets adjusted and listening to the tour guide explain the mechanics -- and there's a 15-minute rest in the middle of the tour to take pictures. I guess that's expected, but it gets worse. For the first half hour, our average speed was similar to jogging at 8-10kph on safe, flat, and clear ground. I kept waiting for our tour guide Jimmy to ask me "how's it going?" but he never did. So, I waved for him to stop and politely asked him if he'd kindly take us where we could go faster since all drivers in my party were experienced (and the biz owner mentioned previously that tour guides would adjust by request and based on experience). Our guide Jimmy said, "there will be spots where we can go faster". Later, on other very safe flats, we reached 14kph which still felt very slow. Later, during the picture break, my family asked me discreetly why the tour was so slow and frankly boring; they were clearly as disappointed as I was. Our tour guide Jimmy made sure to reiterate upon our arrival to "keep both hands on the handle bars at all times". That's good advice, but we were going so slowly throughout the trip that our guide didn't wear a helmet and had one hand on the handlebars 90% of the time. Not exactly leading by example. From the orientation speech earlier back at the office 8 miles away, we were told the ATVs are bought brand new at the beginning of every season. My ATV had 2000 miles on it. I noticed at least one of the ATVs had a busted taillight on it prior to our arrival. The ATVs and UTV operated ok all in all. For a 2-hour tour (meaning 90-min ride) at the slow speeds we maintained, I'd be surprised if we travelled more than 7 or 8 miles total. TIP: A sign in the office said "tour guides work for tips only". So, expect to pay an extra $100 in cash after your ride. TIP: this business asks to have their balances paid in cash. So, you'll need to bring lots of cash. At a different and 100-times better ATV operation, we had 3 tour guides for 6 people. Two guides kept everyone safe (one in the front, one in the back) while the 3rd guide took action videos and air-dropped them to us. THAT is worth tipping. By comparison, I'm not really not sure why we tipped our 1 Appalachian Adventures tour guide Jimmy $100 for 3 drivers. No action shots. He didn't even adjust the ride as per our request. If you've never ridden an ATV or a dirt-bike before in your life and you're the type of person who gets a thrill at moving on safe terrain at the speed of a jog, then this could potentially be a decent introductory ride for newbies only. It would still be 2 stars because of high pricing and inefficient use of time during the pre-ride orientation at the office 8 miles away from the actual trail. Really a 1-star review, but we're bumping it up to 2 because they offer lots of helmets and disinfectant spray and they have a nice piece of private land. Skip it. You'll have way more fun on a bicycle.

Enjoyed my first time on an ATV. The owner and tour guide were nice and personable. The weather was cloudy so I couldn't really enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains during the ride, but I would do the tour again in the future.

We had a great time on our atv tour! Patricia was extremely helpful and thorough with going over scheduling, paperwork, guidelines and the dangers of riding the atvs. Once on the mountain, our guide Jimmy was amazing! Again he prepped us for our ascent and made sure everyone was informed and prepared to ride. Once riding, the trail and views did not disappoint! The atvs they gave us were all Yamahas and they climbed the mountain with ease. We will definitely be back, these guys are pros! Thanks Appalachian Adventures

My husband and I recently visited for his birthday weekend. Everything went well until after we left and were hounded about leaving a tip. The paperwork clearly stated a tip is expected not required. I clearly told the lady that we didn’t have time to stop and get cash. The man threw his hand up when we pulled off as if he couldn’t believe we weren’t leaving a tip. This put a negative taste in our mouths!! I told her the tip I was willing to leave on my card and she tells me it needs to be more. I hate when someone begs for money as if we didn’t just spend almost $400 for the adventure. If they are that depending on tips then include it in the price. We definitely won’t be back. Then they harass you for a video as soon as you get back off the trip…..just weird!!Update: your response to my message shows how ignorant you are as a business owner!! $40 was more than enough of a tip!! I’ll make sure I spread the word for NO ONE to waste their time there with your unprofessionalism. And yes I was happy on the tour until I was harassed for a tip so please post the video!! Also be sure to post the expected NOT REQUIRED!!! Be lucky you even got that!!

This is the place to go for a great time! We are returning customers who have been happy & satisfied with the customer service & our tour each time. The ATV trip is for all levels & experience. My teenagers were excited & if that means anything for a family. The guides were patient & reassured confidence in those less experienced on the tour. They kept the group safe but allowed us to "play" as well. A definite recommend when the leaves change. The views are & scenery are picture perfect.

Did shooting and ATV with my son. Both were great. BE warned that even though you reserve at a specific time you may be asked to arrive an hour early, so check your email. I made that mistake, but Patricia was very helpful and accommodating and we wound up having a great day. I highly recommend the shooting.

DO NOT GO HERE !!! Customer service was ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE from Patricia !! Her attitude was extremely nasty !! My sister fell off the ATV when hitting a ditch. She never asked my sister if she was okay. Instead, she continued to only ask about the ATV vehicle and was in rage about possible damage the vehicle may have. As we were on our way back to the office after the tour ended, Patricia sent us mean texts while also threatening to charge us $50 extra for her waiting for us to file the incident report. Before leaving the location, we expressed to Patricia how unpleasant her customer service was and her unprofessionalism was unacceptable. Her response was “All people are bad until they prove otherwise.” She was also racist towards my sister’s husband and friend accusing them of not paying when she had already charged the card and received the payment. Even though, the trail was fun and the tour guides were nice, it was nearly impossible to overlook how malicious Patricia’s behavior made us feel. If you are looking for a business with great customer service, this is the last place to choose !!
