This is a moderate hike, with spots that can be dangerous if you're not careful, but it is just breathtakingly beautiful!! FYI...If you take the upper loop, it is over an 8 mile hike total, and if you take the lower loop, it's around 5 miles. Bring water and snacks! Also, I highly recommend wearing pants as there is a lot of poison ivy on the trails. The upper loop isn't traveled as much, but it is worth the extra walk. Also, spray repellant of some sort if possible because the ticks are terrible!

Great hike with a beautiful forest and mountain views. Like others have said, it can be challenging in parts, but just take breaks. The main direction has a steep incline but if you go the other direction it’s more gradual. That entrance is a short walk up the road from the entrance, opposite direction of the entrance, and not marked. I did the smaller 4 mile loop and it took 3 hours. I do regret not bringing water. But it was quite pretty and a good workout. I’ll plan more next time and do the longer loop. No dogs, and that’s a good thing, for them.

Not you typical walk in the park but if you are looking for some exercise, Fortune's Cove Preserve is just what you want. Great rugged hiking. Early season hiking would avoid some poison Ivy or wear pants... bring plenty of water and have fun.
Parking: Thanks whoever does the maintenance and mowing!

I am in excellent shape. How excellent? For my age bracket i.e., 40s, my Samsung phone says I'm in the top 4% of people for step counts. So respect Fortune's Cove. It doesn't have all the vertical gain some sections of the AT may have, but its up-and-down-and-up steps will surprise you and demand more of your body, legs, and knees.I speak specifically of the yellow trail. Pace yourself. Don't let your ego get in the way, and bring at least one good hiking stick. If you're just starting out, save this one for after you've gotten some other hikes under your belt, and then try this one. Safe hiking.

Didn't realize how nice this trail was. First time hiking it. Views are great since there are no leaves in the way right now.

Really lovely hiking area, plenty of parking, and very few people. On a prefect-weather Saturday afternoon, we only crossed paths with 2 other couples. Very well maintained trail but only wide enough in most places for one person at a time (meaning you'll have to walk in a line). Fair warning though - this hike is uphill like 85% of the way and seems really bloody long. Although an awesome area, my hubby & I found our will to live sucked out about 3/4 of the way through as we thought we would be walking forever, and ever and ever... And just a heads up, there are two very friendly dogs that live at a nearby house that roam free and like to greet you when you arrive at the parking area. They escorted us up to the trailhead and stuck with us for a few minutes before turning around, but were there to greet us as we emerged from the trees and headed back to the car. They dropped us in a heartbeat though when a Fed Ex truck showed up - it was MUCH more fun for them to chase the truck than to get scratches from us ?

This is a serious hike! Bring water, snacks, hiking poles, and be ready for a very steep path.

Pretty strenuous hike but well work it. We did the short loop with kids and it was a journey but my 7 yr old made it fine.

It's a great trail, but it gets intense at times. Either be experienced or take breaks.

FYI: No dogs allowed. Google maps took us right to the parking lot. The trail starts across the road from the driveway leading to the parking lot. We did the shorter White Trail hike. According to the signs this is a 3.7 mile hike but both of our Apple Watches registered it as just over 4 miles. This hike starts out very steep for the first mile and then mostly goes down hill for the next 3 miles until you return to the road just below the parking lot. Surprisingly, we saw very little wildlife at the end of February but it was only 41 degrees. With all of the leaves down you can really see the terrain and rock formations. There are no bathrooms or garbage cans at the parking lot. Signs in English and Spanish. The trail is well maintained with several bridges over the small creeks.

I highly recommend this trail it is a challenging trail it is not dog friendly there are two loops a more strenuous upper loop and a lower loop everything is clearly marked expect up and downhill and sometimes slippery and rocky wear good shoes with good traction and bring water the trail does not start at the information billboard but more towards the entrance sign give yourself plenty of time for this destination as there is also an awesome winery right across the street
