I would like to say I have been bringing my cars to this shop for over 3 years now and they are amazing. The owner of the shop is very communicative and up-front about pricing. He also lets you know whether service is needed/recommended or if you can hold off. I am absolutely picky about where I take my cars and I found this shop to be very trustworthy. I had a very disappointing experience at this shop. I searched for a mechanic and based on the yelp reviews i decided to give this shop a try. I initially went in to replace my brakes and rotors, but the shop told me i needed my shocks replaced (which i did not notice any issues with prior) and a sway bar. I did not intend to spend $3k for repairs but this being my only car i decided it was important and went with it. After the repair I have had nothing but issues. Immediately I noticed a thud sound when i was driving off and a knocking on my front wheel. I called them immediately after and scheduled to bring it back. I brought it back in and they left my car there all day without checking on it. When i came to pick it up they told me they forgot about it and rushed to do a quick check and told me it was just a tire lock moving around in the trunk. It didn't make much sense to me but since i believed they were the experts I didn't question it. After driving it home i noticed the same thud sound and knocking on my front wheel. I called them back and scheduled another appt. This time they said it was due to the drive shaft, which was not an issue prior to bringing it here. They quoted me another $1k for the repair and nothing was mentioned regarding the knocking sound around the sway bar. This was very frustrating and i decided to look into it more and decided to take it to another shop for a second opinion. I also was looking online and found that if the mechanic is not careful when replacing the shocks the drive shaft boot can be damaged. I called the shop back and told them the issue and how disappointing this experience has been. I spent $3k for repairs i didn't even know i needed, only to have more problems than when i initially brought the car in for repair. They were nice about it and asked me to bring it back in for a 3rd time but I no longer have faith in their mechanics. I will be taking it elsewhere but again i am very frustrated with the experience and the money this has cost me. I do not recommend this shop.

You guys did an awesome job! They have a great communication to the costumer. I had to replace the oil filter cap. the guy called letting me know the cap was to tie it was definitely gonna brake up. I guess Mr Tire didn't do a good job in my previous maintenance service. You guys must be specialist on what you do. I recommend itService: Oil change

Extremely honest and helpful! Was traveling through from out of town and a dreaded warning sign flashed on the dash to stop engine. Just happened to be close to Lorton Auto so I called. Even though it was mid-afternoon on a Friday, they said to bring it and they would try and diagnose. They pulled it right in, found a loose connector on the oil pressure switch and sent me on my way. Not only totally saved the day but saved our DC fun weekend trip,Service: Electrical repair

I'm pretty particular about where my car is serviced, and Lorton Auto has been extremely reliable and helpful. When I had a leak in my windshield from an improper windshield replacement done by another company, Lorton Auto helped me figure out exactly what was wrong and what steps I should take to get it taken care of, including sending me pictures I could use in my claim against the windshield company. I've moved 20 minutes away and still come back here to get my car taken care of!

Good customer service throughout. Polite, patient, and attentive to my and my vehicle’s needs, including providing a detailed quote for a labor intensive repair in a reasonable amount of time. Their $135/hour labor rate is fair for the area (I found a range of labor rates from $100/hour to $175/hour (Ford)). 10% military discount on labor up to $100 is a great offer and recommend sustaining this. Repair was completed on time and the cost was consistent with the estimate. Detailed receipt provided with an inspection paper for my personal records.

I felt so comfortable at this shop. John was a huge help and made me feel safe and confident. I was getting tires put on at another shop and they called to tell me that I needed new brakes or I was risking death (no joke). I brought my car to Lorton Auto Service for a second opinion. John and the mechanic showed me my brakes and assured me that I had plenty of life left on them. I have been back several times since for other services.

These guys are great! I usually ALWAYS take my car to the dealership for services, but after a horrible experience at the Toyota dealership (trying to charge me $6,000 for services), I knew I needed a second opinion. These guys double checked what the dealership told me, and come to find out, the dealership was trying to rip me off. Toyota didn’t even balance my tires right, so as a courtesy, Lorton Auto did it for free! I’ll have to say, honesty in the car business is so rare, but these guys are straight shooters! Excellent!

Thank you Rick at Lorton Auto Service and the rest of the Lorton Auto Service Team. I have had two great experiences there - first time with a radiator issue and second with a tire issue. What I like about them: This auto service center provides clear and transparent communication on their assessment of your vehicle. Rick provided me with recommendation and reasons as to why he provided those recommendations prior to doing any work. In particular their customer service stands out in the case of my flat tire issue. I had a warranty on set of new tires I had purchased while stationed in NY only a few months ago. The insurance company gave me some recommended auto centers that they wanted me to reach out to in the Lorton area and the phone conversations were very rude and dismissive. I decided to reach out to this auto center since they did good work on my radiator when I first moved here and Rick took the initiative to get my warranty to pay for my tire replacement. Please consider Lorton Auto Services the next time you need work done for your car.

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction and frustration with the recent car repair service I received at Lorton Auto Service Center. The handling of my vehicle's issues has been utterly unsatisfactory, and I feel compelled to bring attention to the unacceptable practices I have experienced.I first brought my car for an oil change in March 2023 based on the great reviews I say on Google. In June my car started stalling and I had it towed to Lorton Auto Service Center. When I brought my car to the shop for repairs, not only did your technicians fail to fix the problem adequately after paying over $900, but the vehicle broke down again just days after the initial service. The mechanics were telling me that there were no codes and they didn’t know how to fix it. Later that day I had to call back minutes before they closed to get a status update. This time there were codes displaying because they said they were driving the car around. Which make me think they were just damaging the car more so the codes would appear. What did mechanics do before computers?This ordeal has left me in a difficult situation, both financially and practically, as I relied on my car for everyday transportation.Furthermore, I was shocked to be presented with an additional estimate of $995 for repairs. This would add up to almost $2000 in repairs. I voiced my disaffection and stated I’ve never had an issue with the car until bringing it to this shop. The workers told me that the second repair had nothing to do with the first repair that was days before. Their only response was that the car is old. The car had 129K miles on it and had never given me any issues and was in great shape. I was the only owner for 11 years and had all the maintenance done to prevent issues. The car was obviously never fixed the first time it was brought in- and I have a feeling may be from when the car was brough in for an oil change in March.As a single mother, this significant financial burden has caused me undue stress and anxiety. I feel like I was taken advantage of and subjected to unfair pricing solely based on my gender and situation.To add to the ordeal, I was denied reimbursement from the owner for the first $900, despite the fact that the issues were interconnected. It is evident that the shop is unwilling to take responsibility for its mistakes and is trying to evade accountability for the substandard service provided.
