They have groceries. It's a little run down looking, but cashiers were fast and prices on products aren't bad at all.

I occasionally stop at this Food Lion in Lorton, Virginia on my way home. I stopped there yesterday to pick up a birthday card and gift card which I have done so many time before. Well I picked out the gift card, card and a few minor groceries and got on the full service line because you can't purchase a gift card in the shelf check out line. So after the two customers ahead of me were checked out, the cashier picked up the gift card and handed it back to me and said that she can't ring up gift cards that I have to go to the customer service desk. I told her that I have bought gift cards at the full service check out line all the time here and at my regular Food Lion in Lake Ridge which is a couple miles down the road. She again said she couldn't ring it up. I asked her why there isnt a sign posted on the gift card rack saying to purchase them at customer service. She responded by saying I don't know, but you can't purchase them here. I said if you had told me earlier I wouldn't have wasted time in the full service line. So I went to customer service and told my story to the Assistant Manager and Manager and they told me that I COULD purchase gift cards at the check out lines. I reiterated that they should post signs about the rules for purchasing the gift cards and all they said was we will have a talk with the cashier. I don't know if the cashier really believed she couldn't sell the gift cards or she just didn't want to bring it up, but to solve this problem just a simple sign can be posted to say the gift cards can be purchased in the check out lines with cashiers only. Gift cards can't be sold at self check out lines.

Clean, friendly and well organized. Good Lion tends to run $1-$2 cheaper than some other Grocery Stores. I'll drive a little farther just for the better prices.

I love this Food Lion! It's busy, they have a fine selection of fresh fruits and veggies, they carry Dietz and Watson deli items (???) and they carry many excellent down-home cooking items I've not readily found available at other grocery stores. ?Food Lion?
