Everyone I spoke to over the phone, the Vet and staff, was very nice. I also think they have a great procedure in place during this COVID season. I recommend them to anyone looking for a new Veterinary clinic for their animal family members.

I would highly recommend Lakewood Animal Hospital. We brought our new puppy to Dr Amy. She spent so much time answering all my questions. She is very informative and has a lot of helpful advice. I was amazed at the care she showed my puppy and delighted with the enthusiasm she shows towards her patients and their owners.

I needed a last minute appointment for a 27 hour old kitten of a feral we have been caring for and they fit me in and even though during this difficult time with such uncertainty of the virus and having to take the precautions needed to keep our families safe I was disappointed not to be able to be in the room as much of my concern was on feeding, etc. but by asking if she could give my number to a lady in the area who deals with these issues and might be able to help gave me such relief and as it turned out the lady was able to find within her network a nursing mama who took my little guy in. That evening she sent me a photo of him all snuggled up with mama and his new siblings. I'm so glad I made that appointment. This could have easily been a different story but it could not have turned out any better.

I used this clinic, based on recommendation, for a few years after I was unhappy with my previous veterinarian. I'm not sure why I stuck around so long. My dog has had skin allergies and ear problems most of the time we have had him. Both Doctors treated my dog on several different occasions. The common solution was a steroid and an antibiotic to clear up his skin and an ear wash for his ears ($30 dollars a pop for the wash). The meds would work for a while but his ears always seemed to bother him, I would clean them frequently to try and help my dog. The steroids and antibiotics would usually clear up his skin. Well, after several years of this and a quote for allergy testing that I could not afford, I decided to try somewhere else. Fast forward to the new vet, they actually ran a test on the material inside of his ears. Turns out, there are different kinds of bacterial infections and apparently the type of bacteria determines the type of medicine needed. Well, since my dog hadn't been treated properly for years, the bacteria was out of control. Both types. So now I am feeling that my dog was miserable for years because his ear gunk hadn't ever been tested to determine the proper treatment. I purchased a different type of ear wash (after the new vet said the one I had purchased does absolutely nothing for my dog's condition) and they prescribed me some drops as well as more steroids and antibiotics since my poor dog also had massive yeast problems in his ears and on his skin. Also, guess what? The allergy testing at the new place was actually affordable! In a few days, my dogs ears were a color that I couldn't ever remember seeing. A nice skin tone and not crunchy and pink or red. I feel I should also mention that when requesting to have his records faxed to the new place, they decided it was necessary to add a note to his file saying my dog needed to be muzzled. All stemming from him not cooperating while getting a nail trim and he started freaking out. Nobody else has ever had to muzzle him for a nail trim at any other place I've had it done. I understand they may need to do it for their own protection on some occasions but to add that note to his file? Absolutely tacky. Let the new veterinarian make that decision. I give two stars because while going there the front desk and vet techs were always very personable.

If you want a vet that completely ignores their veterinary oath, this is the place to go. In order to “teach an owner a lesson†they will stop treating your pet, even if they need regular medical attention. Don't let the “niceness†fool you. They were providing care for one of my pets. I arrived one day to pick up a prescription and was handed an envelope. Within was a note saying, without explanation, that they were refusing to provide medical care for my pets from that point on. I tried to get an explanation- none was given. My pet was in the midst of long-term care needing regular check ups, blood work, and ongoing medications due to having a stomach tube. The last contact I had with them was on the phone with me begging for help in finding my pets prescription food. It was out of stock everywhere. Somehow me being in a frantic search for food was enough to get us booted. Apparently, if they suddenly decide they do not want you as a client any longer, your pet gets to suffer the consequences--your animal's health be damned. I guess that's why they are always looking for new clients. I should have known when, in the very first visit when I mentioned seeing reviews, I was cautioned to ignore a particularly harsh one. Maybe that should have been my red flag. The second red flag was the multiple times I was forced to drive to Leesburg for care because they would claim to be “uncomfortable†performing common medical procedures on my pet. So my pet's medical care has been delayed while I try and find another vet to see him--not to mention the added stress on my pet having to adjust to yet another vet. So much for being the compassionate animal lovers they claim to be if they will risk the health of an animal to ‘punish' the owner for some unknown perceived slight. The silver lining for me is that this uncaring attitude towards pets has come to light. I will be sharing my experience with the entirety of the local area. For those who would say they ‘love' this vet—just wait until the day you do or say something, unbeknownst to you, which they do not like. They will drop you like a hot potato. If your pet dies because of it, they could not care less.
