This place is amazing! The views are breathtaking. The owner and staff are beyond friendly and the service was first class. The eclectic/retro decor lends itself to historic mountain life. It's like waking up in a Norman Rockwell postcard.Noteworthy details: They really make you feel like family

Not even from Virginia and was treated better than family. It should be rated as 10?s. Was chilly out side but felt the warmth of true southern hospitality. Not enough can be said for them thank you thank you thank you.

Best barbecue ever and was smoked for over 12 hours. Very friendly and helpful staff as well. They helped make my sisters wedding day dream come true and for that I am forever grateful to them. While our time here was short, I will remember it and return in the future for sure.

Dozens of our friends have stayed at this B&B and we booked it a year in advance for our college reunion. As we were driving up to what might have been the B&B on a huge gravel hill we were blocked by trucks and people cutting down trees. We thought the timing of tree removal was strange considering it was our check-in time. So we reversed our car because there was nowhere to go and asked a man in a truck for help. Interesting enough, it was the owner, Justin. He told us that we would be staying in a white cottage instead of the B&B down the road. Apparently he said Airbnb double booked and there was a Bachelorette party booked at the B&B. Come to find out, it ended up being other Alumni from the same reunion and not a Bachelorette party. He mentioned they had it booked 8 months ago and that we wouldn’t have a “good stay” if we stayed in our original booking room anyways. We booked first but somehow the people who booked later received priority. This seemed really odd to us but we were really happy to hear we still had a place to stay. After all, we had been looking forward to this weekend for over a year. FYI- we never even got the chance to see the B&B because that wasn’t even an option presented to us. This “white cottage” was referred to by the owner as looking like a “crack house” but he assured us that the inside was really nice and this house was an “upgrade” from what we originally booked. This “upgraded house” is right on the busy gravel road, no Mountain View, and is not a rental advertised at all. There wasn’t even a designated parking spot. Laundry was running when we arrived as well as the dishwasher. There was one bed when we paid for a suite room with two beds and a pullout couch to sleep up to 6 people. The owner offered to bring us a blow up mattress which he never brought. The real concern was the air mattress would have to be downstairs while the other bed was located upstairs. Our children are 6, 4, and 2 so I wasn’t exactly very comfortable with us sleeping on separate floors and the house only had one real bed. When I asked about breakfast, the owner mentioned that he needed to check with the other guests at the B&B to see if they were having breakfast because he serves breakfast in the B&B. He never led us to believe that breakfast was included with our “upgraded house” and the topic was just dropped from there. The entire situation seemed really awkward and we felt like we were a huge inconvenience. We understand that mixups happen and we were grateful that Justin was able to make a place for us. We could have overlooked so much of this situation but we really didn’t feel welcome. A little hospitality would have gone a long way and we just wish things had turned out differently. After all, we had our three young kids that were so excited to stay on “the farm” and we really wanted to make it work. After an hour of waiting on Justin to get our blowup mattress, we just felt like paying close to $500 for the weekend in the “white crack house” with zero hospitality was just not worth it for us. In the end Good Place Farm was just not a “good place” for us. We tried to track the owner down to let him know but we couldn’t find him. Thankfully we ended up seeing his mother drive by and we told her we weren’t staying. Her response was “Ok, I will tell my son.” We were completely refunded thanks to Airbnb but the experience just left a bad taste in our mouth. We never received a heart felt apology and the start to our reunion weekend was a huge disappointment. We really hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else in the future because trying to find another place to stay in Lexington on a reunion weekend is vertically impossible especially when you have three kids. Hopefully the hospitality and communication will improve because it could be a really fun B&B to make some unforgettable memories with your kids. The farm animals were adorable! Unfortunately, we won’t be trying it out again.

Justin, Penny and Olivia were wonderful hosts. The dinner that Justin cooked for our 25th wedding anniversary was amazing. It was such a peaceful place and full of charm. Will definitely go back!

We stated at the Good Place farm last weekend and it was absolutely fantastic. Just what we needed to bring down our stress level to 0. Justin and his family were very friendly and this place was very clean. The views were just amazing. We had a great time and will definitely visit again.

The only thing I would complain about is the steep gravel driveway. My poor Kia struggled to make it up the hill. But once we were there, we were greeted by a beautiful cabin like B&B. The owners were so kind and catered to our every need. The room we had was spacious and comfortable. I only wish the weather was nicer so we could sit out in the beautiful yard. Would definitely go stay again.

Horrible! We booked this place thinking it was a bed and breakfast with 2 queen beds. We were looking for a nice place to stay during a college visit to VMI. What a let down!!! I even called ahead to confirm check in and the guy who answered said they had recently been overwhelmed with double bookings. But, he assured me they had room for us at their “alternate site”. Well, the alternate site was a hole in the wall mess of a place, nobody at the front desk, no towels, no door on the bathroom, quirky electrical wiring, loud neighbors, etc, etc. I slept with one eye open the entire night. And, NO breakfast!!!!!!!!!I attempted to reach the owners via phone/text, to no avail. I strongly advise against staying at this place or any alternate sites acquainted with “good placefarms bed and breakfast”.Just horrible all around.

It's been a day now since our visit to good place Farms and I can't stop thinking about what a wonderful time we had and can't wait to go back again. I was traveling with my two children both under the age of 3 and I wanted to make sure wherever we stayed was truly kid friendly. All the reviews I read mentioned how wonderful they were with children. From the moment we drove onto the property I knew we were in for a treat. My son was so excited when he saw all the animals: horses, pigs, chickens, and of course kitty Thelma. Thelma is an outdoor cat and welcomes you as you're walking up the B&B. Justin made us feel part of the family from the moment we arrived. The rooms were extremely clean, comfortable and thoughtfully decorated. I also was lucky enough to to have Chef Justin cook one of the best farm-to-table meals I have ever had hands down. I still think about that filet! Not to mention the live entertainment during dinner as well. Justin sang for us while his brother Stephen played the piano. Such a treat! The next morning Liv brought my son down to help pick chicken eggs for breakfast and he was able to go visit all the other animals on the farm, which to a two-year-old that's the bee's knees. Justin and the rest of the staff at Good Place Farms truly understand hospitality and will go above and beyond to exceed expectations. Justin's been a volunteer firefighter since he was 14 years old selflessly giving of himself to help others. I will continue to support him and Good Place Farms and can't wait to return!Thank You Good Place Farms!!!

We had such a great time at Good Place Farms! It’s a rustic barn renovated into a comfortable B&B with a relaxed, eclectic charm and beautiful views of the Virginia mountains. It’s so family friendly with lots of space indoors and out, and options to meet different sized groups. Our daughter loved visiting the animals on their farm. From what I understand, if you want to get up early enough, you can help gather the eggs from the chickens.Thank you to the Peerys for your genuine hospitality and delicious food. Olivia had fresh cookies waiting on us when we arrived! She and Justin are delightful people, so helpful and available if needed. They prepared a farm fresh breakfast for us that was superb. I should have snapped a photo of how lovely it looked, but I was too eager to taste it, and then after tasting it I didn’t want to stop!Lexington is nearby with lots to see and do, including tours of historic Lexington and VMI with its museums, as well as Washington and Lee University. The area has so many outdoor activities that we still want to do, trails to walk or hike, Natural Bridge, James River, llama trekking, fishing...We’d say it’s more than a good place- it’s a great place!
