I took dessert plates class and liked it. I still feel it is a bit overpriced considering you only get to shape the prepared clay slab into a plate and do imprint. Yet, I am happy with what I got out of it. I love my plates. They look great and have a rustic feel. The instruction was good and the place is clean. Overall atmosphere of the shop is pleasant and welcoming.

Wow, so sorry I showed up when your store was OPEN and I dared to ask a couple questions with the intent to buy some pieces and paint pottery. How dare I expect a business to do, you know, business.....Don't worry, won't make that mistake again. Won't forget your rudeness, that's for sure.

My husband and I really enjoyed our experience at the Clay and Metal Loft from beginning to end. Amy is not only a great artist, but she’s also a wonderful teacher. We had never worked with clay before so we were excited with the outcome of our flowers that we made on date night. We created the clay flowers, and then they were painted and glazed for us. We look forward to displaying these as a reminder of a fun and creative date night. Now we are on the hunt for a cool vase for them.

I did a class at the Clay and Metal loft in September. While the class was mediocre, I am more upset with the fact no one has contacted me to pick up my clay creation. I have left voicemails and emails, and have not had a reply. With the weird store hours, it makes it almost impossible to go in to check if they are even ready. While I am happy with my clay creation(if I ever receive it) I was not impressed with the teacher. Seemed like she was trying to get out of there as soon as possible.

A friend and I saw the heart mug class advertised on Facebook and booked it immediately for her birthday. Overall, the class was okay, but left quite a bit of room for improvement. I've participated in a few pottery events, including a wheel class at another pottery location. My friend had never done pottery before. With that in mind we knew we would likely need a bit of help. When we arrived, about ten minutes before the class, it was rather hectic some people were standing near a table and some were seated and someone was just walking around with a sheet of paper. We stood there for a minute before we were directed into a secondary room due to "social distancing" even though there were still open seats at the main table. At first being in the second room didn't seem like a big deal. There was one other lady in there and it was nice having a little extra space, however any time the instructor needed to demonstrate something, we had to get up, leave our project and crowd around the main table (what was the point of social distancing again?) to watch the demonstration. It was very inconvenient to have to keep getting up and down, when the instructor felt the need to show us something--which wasn't always a convenient stopping point in our projects. Also the demonstrations were subpar and because we were in the second room, she literally never made it into our room to help us with additional instructions or show us how to do anything. A second gal was there who had just started her first day and she told us she was only supposed to be there to drop in and see the first twenty minutes or so, but she stayed the entire class to help the main instructor because she was so overwhelmed. She was the only person who assisted us at all and it wasn't even until the end of the class where we literally could not figure out how to make mug handles and it was ten minutes past the end of the class time. It was also a little disappointing the selection of glaze colors that were offered at the end. There was red, white, blue, green, and a beige color. Meanwhile in the room we were sitting in there were like 50 different glaze swatch colors sitting out. The instructor (still very overwhelmed) told us she couldn't guarantee which mug would get which color since we each had two... which unless you have 2 of the exact same mug seems a little ridiculous. I would say that I did not DISLIKE the class, but they definitely packed the room too full for one instructor. I would really only recommend going here if you have a fair amount of experience with clay and don't require much additional assistance. Also if you don't care about social distancing, because that is only considered during the seating, not during the instructions, slab roller line, placing the cups out to dry, etc. etc.
