The parking lot can be tough to find in the dark, but the trail is nice. If you take a left on the main, it ends in about 1.5 miles. I've seen a number of bald eagles in that area. If you take a right you can go much further. It's a flat, easy trail.

Nice spot to see some little-known history of Loudoun County, with the ruins of the Goose Creek Canal lock and the Kephart Bridge.

Trail from a parking lot inside a beautiful neighborhood. Google directions got me there easily. The trail to the Potomac was very short. I did not go along the hiking trail parallel to the river, just stayed down on the bank. Gorgeous scenic views of the Potomac.

A+. July 1, 2023. This is a hidden gem!We started at the Riverpoint Drive Trailhead, 43942 Riverpoint Dr, Leesburg, VA 20176. It has a small parking lot with a port-a-potty. We walked 4 miles to Selden Island and back. That was 8 miles and it took us 3+ hours. We didn't see any other port-a-potties along the way. The entire trail is completely covered with trees. There's no need for fair-skinned people to use sunscreen if you stay on the trail. The trail is well-marked with blue paint on trees. This first section of the trail is along the Goose Creek Canal. The trail is wide and seems a favorite place for local dog walkers. There is a kayak launch area a few hundred feet down the trail. Several families with fishing poles were there. You can wear shorts and T-shirts without worrying about brush and ticks. This is the best part of the trail in our opinion. The water is visible at all times, and you can enjoy the sight and sound of the river. The second section of the trail is where the canal meets the Potomac to what the map shows as Elizabeth Mills Riverfront Park, but the plaque says Bazil Newman Riverfront Park. We saw some people hauling coolers and portable tents at the end of this section. They must have parked at Bazil Newman Riverfront Park and they were headed to the water to spend the day. They were on the trail for only a very short section. The Lansdowne Resort was visible here. This stretch of the trail has the river to the north and a golf course to the south. The trail does not touch the golf course. The third section of the trail goes from Bazil Newman Riverfront Park to Bles Park, but we took it only as far as Selden Island, approximately 15 minutes shy of Bles Park. There is no access to this private island. The trail narrows very significantly, and you should definitely wear long pants and shirts if you don't want to worry about brush touching you. This was the least scenic portion of the trail, because you can see only a narrow, dull channel of water between the trail and Selden Island, which blocks your view of the wide Potomac. This portion of the trail shares 3 bridges with the golf course where the trail needs to cross 3 ravines. The trail comes out a few feet away from either end of the golf course bridges so there's very little overlap. The bridges have a blue paint mark to reassure you that you're still on the trial. The trail on either side of each bridge has blue paint on a tree near the trail opening to let you know where to get back on the trail.

A very nice and established trail. There are some areas there the tall grass has somewhat overgrown the trail but it adds to the hike.

It's a nice trail this. 6-7km of walking in the woods (to Bles Park) and nice scenery along the way.

Absolutely love love this park. It's so quiet and secluded. This place is so calming and you can hear the rapids. My husband likes to fish didn't catch anything but it was so beautiful we didn't care. I wish I would have taken more pictures!! Definitely recommend.

Parking can be tight but always have been able to get a spot. Great for kayak drop offs. It fairly shaded so if it has rained the past week it’ll probably still be muddy. Can’t really go upstream because there are rapids, could walk around fairly easily. Easy access to the Potomac.

Not your typical place to hang out but we have a really great time. It is more primitive so I would make alternative plans for using the restroom or bringing a blanket to have a picnic as we did. Great spot to push off your kayak or canoe! There's quite a bit of shade, bring your own and hang out awhile. The kids caught some minnows and we definitely saw some other wildlife but all in all it was a really great time!

Really nice walking trail along Goose Creek. Also a kayak/canoe launch which is often used in the summer for tubing. My husband enjoys fishing here, particularly off to the left along the trail that is more of a bushwhack. If you just want a pleasant walk, go right. It will take you to Elizabeth Mills Riverfront Park and on to Bles Park.

Small parking lot nestled in a residential neighborhood. Port-o-pottie. Short walk to the water. Turn right and a well defined trail takes you to the Potomac River, about a mile.

For what it is - a parking area for a park entrance in a neighborhood - it's pretty well set up. Small parking lot that can fit a decent number of cars. Reasonably good signage from the housing area. Clear signage at the trailhead. There's even a porta potty. Wish more parks had these. Extra star for that.Hill down from the neighborhood to the parking lot is very steep. Not the best idea in ice. Trail itself is very rough and can get extremely muddy. Bring a walking stick. As I'm going to post on my review of the park itself, this is mostly an out and back park. Not quite linear, as there's more than one trail in at least one place, and there are some sort of trails in other places, but pretty close. To do a real loop without repeated views, you would need to go a couple of miles or more and go way around through some neighborhoods (and around a golf course in one direction) and walk back on neighborhood streets. Would love to see the park authority create real trails that would allow a large figure eight.

Great little park that stretches from the neighbourhood to the river on a slim trail between Goose Creek and the golf course. It’s a nice hike, especially when nobody is around, but the trail is muddy when wet and a little bit down, you’re surrounded by houses and golf courses on both sides, which I find unsightly yet inescapable. Nevertheless, it’s made as a kayak launch, but that can be a bit troublesome since it is quite a distance and there is no real good way to bring them, but I guess it’s better than nothing. On another note, the county board of supervisors (the bourgeoisie) voted to changed the name at your, the taxpayer’s, expense instead of making any upgrades whatsoever, all because Kephart was a plantation owner and this land was previously his. Don’t tell the board about who the county is named after…. One of the very few parks in Loudoun, it is connected by the Potomac Heritage Trail to Elizabeth Mills Riverfront Park and Bles Park further down the Potomac River. Worth a visit still, quite a bit of wildlife, cheers.

Quite a fun place with a nice bunch of trails. The trail to the bridge starts out really nice but gets a little tricky if you want to get down to the water. The views are pretty nice though. If you take the right path towards the river, theres a chance to see a lot of waterfowl, i saw cranes and cormorants. Parking lot is small and the entrance is in the middle of a subdivision.

Nice to have a public access to this treasured site along Goose Creek. Unfortunately it's very limited parking. Not only is the mid 1800s Goose Creek Canal with its locks very interesting, but the former bridge crossing here with only the remains of the stones bridge abutment on both side of the river. The simple road used to connect present-day Rt 7, cross Goose Creek, and connect at Edward's Ferry Rd.
