TL;DR: Do not go here for anything other than tires! You will be ripped off with huge upcharges on parts.
I wish I could write a better review. I've been a customer for a very long time... 20+ years... mostly for new tires and tire patches for flats. My wife and I had a family emergency early in the year though and needed new brakes for our car within a few days, and everywhere in town had a waitlist. Hogan & Sons were able to get us in and out by our deadline.
My wife made arrangements with them and I told her to make sure to bring me the quote before we agreed to anything. They did not give her a physical quote, but instead had her agree to work on paper at the shop. She was anxious because of our emergency and didn't remember the amount they told her, and since they hadn't provided an estimate to take with her, I couldn't review anything. I knew a ballpark price to expect, so I was fine with that, if not a little hesitant. We also had a quote from the dealership that was a typical dealership price.
The job was a replacement of 2 brake pads and 2 rotors, and I was expecting $400-500, maybe $600 on the high end. The dealership had quoted us $750 with OEM parts, so again, I was expecting less than that.
My wife picked up the vehicle and the bill was $930! I couldn't believe it! I thought that was a mistake and they had accidentally charged us for all wheels. She check with the paperwork, which only showed 2 wheels, and the agent she was talking to impatiently told her that was the price for the work. Unfortunately, it was what she had agreed to as well, so we didn't have much recourse.
For those of you who may question how in the world it would cost almost $1000 for a brake job on only 2 wheels, I'll give the very quick and easy answer. They charge on the high end for labor, which is probably pretty standard in Leesburg. But they charge a whopping 300% upcharge on parts instead of the 50% or so that most places charge! These are non-OEM parts that are from the automotive parts shop right outside of their repair center. They are not premium parts, just the standard part from their preferred manufacturer. These are parts you could walk into their parts shop and buy for ~$50 (yes, I looked up the exact parts they used), that they turn around and charge $164 for when performing repairs.
I'm sitting in the dealership now getting my other set of brakes done for $730, and the generic brake pads that Hogan and Son replaced are already in the yellow in terms of health (probably 6k miles on them now). I'm sure this review will garner the same generic response from the business of "we are sorry you feel this way, someone will call you." They sent a survey after the job asking if we wanted to talk to someone about our negative experience and we never heard from anyone. I don't expect that they will apologize or make this right since we simply fell victim to their price model while we were vulnerable.
Do not do business with this company for anything other than tires.

This place use to be pretty solid but unsure of the quality of work in the past couple of years or so.
We’ve had a couple of cars here and there with techs having broken clips, missing screws for skid plates, broken hood latch, etc.
There are better and newer shops in the area honestly.

I had an oil change service and wanted to have the brake checked. The staff were super friendly and helpful. In addition, after the visit, they would have a report sent to you via email so that you can view the conditions of your car and what might be recommended to be done/check if they notice anything during the inspection. Overall, it was a great experience.

We had an issue on our vehicle where we couldn’t get our oil changed due to the skid plate’s bolts being tightened greatly by the previous company who did our oil change. We were under the impression that it was one of the guys who works at Hogan & Sons who did this since as far as we can remember, we brought in our vehicle to this place for oil change initially. Turned out, after the manager of Hogan & Sons, Mr. Spencer, checked carfax, it was the other company who caused the problem. Having said all this, Mr. Spencer from Hogan & Sons took us in and prioritized our problem to ensure that they can at least resolve the issue and get us our oil changed. Not only they were able to do that, Mr. Spencer also offered us a discount for the inconvenience that they didn’t cause in the first place. My wife and I were truly amazed with the customer service we received from this location. It was indeed our pleasure to have dealt with Mr. Spencer and we highly recommend this place to anyone. Thanks again and we look forward to dealing with you guys in the future!

Why don't you put the price on the website for the services, such as oil change, rotate tires etc.... I have to ask how much it costs every time I check in or check out.

In for an oil change! The front desk guy was great and very communicative! A quick, efficient oil change with direct reporting via link to see all inspections points with pictures of car etc..

I had a flat tire that needed to be replaced. They got the needed tire to shop within a few hours and squeezed me in so I hardly had to wait to get the tire put on. Really appreciate the friendly team and quick service.

nicest bunch of guys! I came in first thing to get emissions testing and they were nice enough to fit me in even though they had a lot going on in their shop. Was in and out in like half a hour, and they also did a state inspection too! Really great!
