Avoid room 301. Shower door broken, and smells of sewage. Sewage smell so bad that I had to change rooms. Had an issues with my billing and where room price jumped and I didn't notice. Totally my fault but where unwilling to work with me to address. Just double check for room rate jumps. Also, carpet on the stairs is a straight up safety hazard. Be extra careful on the carpet stairs. I'm going to try to stay in Fredericksburg in the future.
Hotel response bellow is reflective of the service to be expected. Good luck out there. Check your bills with them. Check your booking with them document everything. Check your options.

Breakfast was great, had plenty of hot and cold foods to choose from. Staff was very accommodating when extra items were requested. Didn't use the pool or fitness center, they were open we just didn't have time to check them out.

This hotel is terrible. Staying 3 days. Pool is closed 2 days now. Checked in Sunday
Check in time is 3pm . Traveling with 2 young children under 8 years old. Room was not ready until 530 pm. No discounts nothing.
Rooms are moldy. had to clean.
Air conditioning units filters dirty. Left over mayonnaise all over floor. Buyer beware.
This is not the usual hampton inn by Hilton.
This place is not good at all.
Luckily colonial beach is 20 minutes away.
Breakfast is decent.
Parking is available.
Staff is very inexperienced.

Close to the water. Really nice staff. Beautiful sunsets. What’s not to love? You should try it. Yes, there are some renovations underway but that just means that they’re trying to improve your stay. Stop in, you’ll like it. Oh, and the breakfast was decent as well.

This hotel features renovated, clean, and comfortable rooms. Lobby area undergoing renovation as of May 2024. Ideally located on 301 with several eating and shopping options nearby. Would stay here again.

I was traveling through from South Carolina. I spoke to a very helpful and friendly woman named sapphire on the phone. She had all the answers. I stayed at the hotel because of her. My family was very well taken care of and the continental breakfast was very satisfying after a long drive. Will recommend her and this hotel to anyone.

One word…AMANDA! Let’s talk about the shady, unprofessional, front desk lady that rips people off like there’s no tomorrow! I originally booked four rooms, six months in advance for a set price. One of the rooms guests arrived earlier than I did and Amanda refused to give them a key to the room, or let them transfer the cost of the room onto their own card. Room one guests had to wait an hour and a half until I arrived. While they had to wait for an hour and a half, they proceeded to watch Amanda repeatedly change the room rate on guests as they showed up. Upon my arrival, Amanda informed me that the rooms could not be charged separately onto individual cards by the other individual occupants. Being that I know the other occupants, I had no issue putting all of the rooms onto my card as they would then reimburse me. Amanda, then proceeded to tell me I could no longer have the rate that I booked using my military ID… she tried to say that the military rate was only if I was doing a PCS and that I had to pay the full price rate on each room for the night. Clearly upset, we went online and looked up room rates…we realized that the rooms, if we were to book them at that moment, were cheaper online than the price she was trying to make us pay. She absolutely refused to be accommodating, lower the rate, or make any concessions for any of us. When I asked to speak to her manager, she told me there was no manager on duty. I then proceeded to inquire when a manager would be on duty, or if I could call them… And she told me for security purposes, she could not give me that information. By this point, I was enraged and walked out to call corporate. As a last hurrah, Amanda made sure to tell me that if we did not stay in the rooms, she was going to charge my card on file anyway because it was too late to cancel. Corporate handled the situation after two hours on the phone.
How do you know Amanda is the one working the front desk upon your arrival? Just look for the tacky, big giant rose tattoo on her chest and her unprofessional attire! But BEWARE… this is their MO to make extra money for the hotel, either pay the high price and stay in the hotel, or pay the high price and go find something else! Save yourself the trouble and book a hotel elsewhere!!!

Background-Nearest Hilton for an hour.
Week 1: Unaccommodating staff, mediocre breakfast (2nd only to Motel 6), newly renovated rooms unfurnished, building supplies all over parking lot (limiting parking)
Week 2: Check in, pick room top floor away from elevators, construction, get digital key. Arrive late, go to room, to find out, my room was manually switched by manager 30 minutes before arrival to directly next elevators and construction, lower flooring. No functioning, easily accessible outlets, digits key doesn't work. Want physical key...key machine broken. Have to be let into room by front desk. Still no key.

Canceled Reservation without notification!I'm a long-time Hilton member and I've never had this happen to me before.I booked 5 rooms, 1 for myself and 4 for coworkers. The hotel overbooked and cancelled one of my reservations. That coworker had to find alternative lodging. I've had a similar situation with Marriott once. But, since they were at fault for overbooking, they found alternative lodging and covered the cost. Hampton Inn Dahlgren took no responsibility for their error and we had to figure something out last minute. Other than the cancelation, the rooms are fine.Food & drinks: Some basic food options across the street.

I Cancel the day of my reservation because we arrived early and they couldn’t give me another room out of 100 plus rooms. I was willing to pay extra. Your parking lot is empty and I was told no refund if I cancelled. The young girl at the front desk was very rude and inconsiderate and unprofessional.( train your employees better) I won’t used my Hilton rewards at another Hampton inn. Don’t use this place go somewhere else.
