We had such a lovely time at Dog & Oyster Micro-Vinyard. Our server Emmy was phenomenal - she was genuinely kind, considerate and knowledgeable. We were visiting Virginia from out of state and would recommend this as a stop for those looking for a quaint setting to chat with friends and enjoy some fabulous wine.

Great time at this charming little wine bar! Enjoyed the whites and rose especially. The hosts were very kind and the roasted oysters were delicious as well.

They had a “dessert oyster” there not on the menu and it was amazing. Never thought I’d eat an oyster for dessert. Lovely venue and good wine. Great for a weekend afternoon retreat.

I love this new space. The only reason I’m not giving this five stars is the fact they are using all plastic throw away cups and plates. You’d think where they are located they’d use really glasses, I understood at their other location why they used plastic. The wine is really good. We also tried their “dessert” oyster. Sooo good.

This is a very cute and charming place to have a glass of wine and oysters. It was a great way to spend a rainy afternoon at the river.

The oysters were wonderful! And paired very nicely with their wine, the Oyster White! The server was incredibly attentive and lovely, and the owner came over to meet us. Great service overall!I was less impressed by their selection of wines to try via the tasting, I liked 1 of the 4, which is not typical for me. That being said, my husband liked 3 of 4, so perhaps they were just not my taste.

First, though, I will say the staff were very friendly and helpful. That said, our experience was only okay: I did not care for the wine, with or without the oysters, and the roasted oysters (which we had, obviously) were not the amazing like the waitress said they'd be. There was also the smell of fertilizer wherever you sat under the tent. It just was a different experience than I realized it would be, probably because it's a micro-vineyard housed alongside a restaurant and inn experience. We do still want to try the restaurant, which we were unable to do this trip, but in terms of the wine-tasting experience, it was underwhelming, in terms of taste, scene, and available variety. The only plus was that the wine flight was inexpensive. So, silver-lining.

We drove from Yorktown for Chesapeake Wine Trail weekend event to find only three people working the event. Tables unturned. People flagging down the three over tasked people just to get a drink. It appeared as if very few people had food. Three families left without being served within an hour with us just showing up. Disappointed.

My husband found this quaint place while looking for an 'escape' from the city WITH OYSTERS. This is less than 3hrs from DC. We arrived to a lovely B&B and a warm greeting from the proprietor, Peggy. We sat out one the patio, sampled the yummy wines and had some AMAZING oysters (SO FRESH) and a charcuterie plate. It was a perfect day to enjoy the delicacies offered. When we checked into the Hope and Glory Inn we fell in love with the quaint cottage. The whole property is absolutely beautiful. We truly enjoyed the outdoor bath before I took a bike ride on one of the complimentary bikes. That evening we dined in the main house, romantic, rustic, all around charming. I don't know if my review could come close to describing the sheer GENIUS of their chef, but I will try. We started with fresh Rappahannock River oysters which were roasted and served with the most tasty pesto, WOW! The next course was the gazpacho. I'm not a fan of cold soup, THIS was the exception. It was bursting with flavors and freshness (it was nice SEEING those heirloom tomatoes growing outside our cottage window, along with fresh herbs) that I could never describe. The main course was a large crab cake, with little to NO filler and just as fantastic as everything she's done. I love to dine out, this chef IS phenomenal. From beginning to end, this place, with it's warm inviting people (even the housekeeping deserved a hug) and unbelievable food, to it's quaint cottages which have all the 'little things' you need, made this a magical weekend. I can only imagine once the foliage is in bloom. DON'T miss this spot. Get away for a few... And meet Peggy, Chef Meseret, and Dudley, worth the drive!

We recently visited the new location for the Dog & Oyster at the Hope & Gory Inn. We enjoyed the wine and the oysters very much! However, given the upscale atmosphere and the price, I would expect that wine tastings and the glasses of wine we ordered to come in wine glasses (not plastic cups). We found this in opposition to the rest of the atmosphere.

This review is for the Hope and Glory Inn weekend outdoor wine tasting in front of the Inn. The wine tasting comes in three tiny plastic cups with about an ounce of mediocre wine in each cup. The charcuterie consists of a clamshell plastic box with some uninteresting processed style cheeses , sliced pepperoni type meats and a thin plastic sandwich baggie with cheap direct from some box crackers. Don't order the shooters or at least take a close look before swallowing. Mine came with a 1/4 inch piece of sharp oyster shell attached to the oyster. I felt a sharp object in my mouth before I was to swallow the oyster shooter. The people next to me saw me spit out the oyster and I showed them the shell. I literally could have swallowed this sharp object. I told the owner and he didn't at all seem to care and never offered an apology or any compensation. He just said thanks for telling me! The owner who was the server could not remember orders and was not adept at serving tables. I tip even when the service and food is literally awful. My bill for poor service, an oyster which wasn't edible and low quality wine and food was $50.00. This place pretends to be upscale. It is not!
