Can't say enough good things about HA. The shop itself has an awesome selection of NFA items, but the guys are what makes this place awesome. Very knowledgeable, super helpful, and amazingly friendly. None of that pretentiousness you may find at other shops. These guys will answer any and all questions without making you feel like a dope for asking.
Speaking of feeling like a dope..I managed to screw up a castle nut on a SBR I was piecing together. Yes...a castle nut (don't ask how I screwed up the easiest part). Anyways, I torqued it down and couldn't back it off. Called them up and they said to swing by. No questions asked, no charge, nothing. They helped me out just because they are awesome. Then spent like 30 mins talking about supressors with me.
Also helped me out with a transfer once and the experience was the same. Super friendly and incredibly helpful.
If you are in NOVA or hell, even if you aren't...Herndon Arms is definitely worth the trip.

I can’t tell you how bad these people are. If you don’t mind doing business with crooks, then fine; otherwise, stay away from Herndon Arms.

Back in the spring of 2020, I put a deposit down of $880 for a Ruger 44 magnum SA. The gun never arrived. So, in 02/20/2021, I chose an RIA VR60 and asked the gentleman behind the counter how much since it didn't have a price tag and if I could purchase this instead. BIG mistake. I figured the guy behind the counter would be honest. Anyway, we made the transaction, I asked for some 12 guages, and he acted like he was extending himself and gave me one box. 5 shells. This was my very first purchase, and I was naive. The damn gun, a VR60, sells for $475 - $550 in many gun shops. But in Herndon, this guy charged me $880. I would have gone back to complain in 2020, but I wasn't given a receipt. So, I'm writing a review instead. Watch out for the guy behind the counter.

Found them through an FFL transfer. Couldn’t be more pleased with the staff in place. The owner and Mike were in today. These guys are great. Even with just answering questions. They actually have a very nice selection and I love the website. I will be purchasing from Herndon Arms in the future! Thank you guys.

This is one of my go-to firearms stores. Staff are always welcoming and professional, the store looks really nice too. They've also helped with transfering and giving advice to new gun owners. They have helped me save a lot of money when I needed to repair my first firearm. These are good people.

stopped by today just to browse - found a few fantastic deals. They must have undergone a major adjustment in regards to pricing because there were plenty of deals that you would not find anywhere. I picked up a handgun for 30% less than the lowest price on gunbroker and there were dozens of similarly priced items. I will definitely be back.

I've used Herndon Arms twice fire FFL transfer. Both times have been efficient and smooth. The store is small with a nice selection of goodies. Personnel I've dealt with were personable and knowledgeable.

Gun owner is terrific. His shop is very nice, a lot of inventory for such a small shop. I think the owner is what makes this shopa great shop. He likes guns and likes helping folks with guns. My wife and I came in and despite having people in the shop he still was gracious enough to answer my questions. Buy from him!

Did FFL through them and the team went out their way to help me on a busy black Friday. They got my gun ready even though it was busy… Good advice and knowledgeable. Good variety of guns…

The first time I went, they were closed for lunch around 2/230 in the afternoon. The second time they were open. I bought 2 25 round boxes of hallowpoint that were way overpriced. $40/a box for a box I can pick up for $20. When I checked the online receipt when I got home, the receipt didn’t may have the purchase. They charged me for a different brand and grain weight. So at the end of the day I paid for premium ammo but received mediocre stuff. Wouldn’t go back.

A small store with a great selection of firearms. Not so much in terms of accessories and magazines, but overall a nice place. Wish I lived close enough to take better advantage

It didn't let me know it was an FFL until I have wasted my time to look for it.

TLDR; good selection, but grumpy and unhelpful
I’m not sure if whoever I met was having a bad day or is just a rude person, but I had a terrible experience. This happened a little while ago so I’m not sure if the employee is still there, but at any rate, this is what happened.
I went with a couple of friends to look for something for the range. It felt like every question I asked the guy he would roll his eyes and shake his head like I was a toddler even though I have been using firearms since I was a kid. I guess he was annoyed I wasn’t looking at the top of the top shelf stuff and didn’t like being pestered(I asked maybe 3 questions) about the more inexpensive models which lead to his patronizing attitude. I sorta left him alone at that point and I made a comment to my friend about something unrelated I heard him mutter under his breath at his desk “well that wouldn’t be very smart”
All that aside I found what I wanted because they truly do have a very good selection. I submitted the paperwork they had an error with their system(which at first the guy brooded like I’d done something wrong before realizing it was their system messing up). So the guy said leave a number and he’d call me back later that day, sure enough, he never did… but at that point I was okay with it. I felt like the guy just hated me for some reason and overall it was just an unpleasant experience which is confusing cause a friend recommended the place. I felt like I subjected my friends to a trip to the Department of Motor Vehicles rather than just a fun day looking at some hardware.
