I want to give a shout out to the awesome employee named Mr Fisher who helped me and my husband with getting a car rental today. After we had a horrible experience with Hertz rentals we went to Avis and Mr Fisher made our night so much better!! Thank you for you kindness and great customer service!! We need more people like you in this world! Hopefully the rest of our vacation will be just as great

The car that I reserved wasn't immediately available so I had to wait 45 minutes with screaming babies while they cleaned a vehicle. The communication from the service person was not very good. They could not provide me with an estimate for when the vehicle would be available because the cleaning is contracted out. Awful experience.

Does Avis know what they are doing? They have a line of people waiting for cars, and they are cycling one person every 15 to 20 minutes. This is the most ridiculous operation I've ever experienced. This is what I would expect from a car rental company who just opened. People with reservations are being told there are no cars. And reservations are not honored. Then why bother reserving it in the first place? I wish I could give this joke of a car rental negative stars. I can see why Turo is doing so well. Never rent Avis.

My son graduated from college with services on May 5, 2022 and we flew in for the graduation service. We reserved a van in January, 2022 and upon arrival Avis did not have the van we needed, nor ANY cars available. The university is 3 hours away and so we had reserved an Airbnb for our stay near the university. Because there were NO cars available, we had to get 2 hotel rooms near the airport, uber to the hotel - uber back to the airport the next morning and get a van from Enterprise instead. I asked Avis to reimburse us for the extra out of pocket expenses and they denied reimbursement. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and will continue to pursue this, as this is ridiculous! The customer service is beyond horrible!!!!!

Zero stars! I travel for work quite often and was in a pinch so decided to rent from them!! Worst decision arrived at midnight with a confirmed reservation and they had no cars. I was left stranded with minimal options. Never ever again !!!

It was very easy and fast. I have Avis preferred. On my app picked the car I wanted, went right up to 2nd floor garage and was gone in 10 minutes. But even at the desk they had four people working and no lines. Car was clean and nice

Arrived at the Richmond airport went to get the car right away and there was a long line of probably 25 people there was only one person in that booth handing out keys to the cars and checking people out it took an hour and a half to get the keys torental and it was not the right car they had given our car away so we had to get a small load of the ground Honda Accord instead of the Chrysler 300 that we had requested for specific reasons Avis is apparently now but it up with Payless so That was a surprise which explains the less than service I've never had that sort of experience with enterprise or with hurts and I will not be using Avis in the future

I rented a car from Avis at the Richmond Virginia Airport, on 13 Oct 2021. After having the car for week the maintenance light came on saying it was time for an oil change, so I had to drive 30 mins to drop the car off and get another one. I turn the car in on 06 Nov 2021 back at the Richmond Virginia airport at 3:34am, no one was there to receive the keys, so I place the keys in the drop box and proceeded into the airport. On 07 Nov 2021, I called Avis rental airport, because I needed my receipt, no one answered. I got someone at customer services I proceeded to tell him what was going on, he told me that in the system it said the car was missing. I said "no way it's missing" he cut me off while talking and said that he couldn't help me, then hung the phone up. I waited and called back talked to another guy, he tells me that in the system it says the car have been moved. And that's it's nothing her could do but send it over the billing departments so that they can investigate it. I had to send my boarding pass to customer services. and still haven't heard back from anyone at all. This happens all 07Nov2021! I will never rental a car from Avis again. I just need my receipt

Nothing beats waiting in line for hours after you get off a long flight. Would rather pay extra for decent service. Thanks budget!

Rented a vehicle 9/11-9/24 and the vehicle was fine. However, I just received a letter from AVIS stating that there was "excessive dirt-sand" and will be charged $125 for cleaning. I called customer service and they said pictures show dirt and sand, but the customer rep admits that he does not feel as if I hauled dirt or sand in the car, to which my response was "because I didn't haul dirt or sand in the car." I even told the rep when I turned the vehicle in, the agent even walked around the car and looked in it and said "everything looks good" and printed out my receipt and gave it to me. Currently disputing this charge with a supervisor.

I've had to switch rental cars 2 times already & they make it pretty difficult. Their "help line/road side assistance" is terrible & you can't even contact the front desk for the Richmond location without being transferred to the automated lines. I was on the phone yesterday for hours without any help as a result. I had a flat tire & ended up just have to drive back to Richmond & demanding a new vehicle. Not an effective or efficientcompany.

A reservation isn't actually a reservation at this location, it seems-- even prepaid and with "preferred" status.

No signs stating that you need to go to the desk first as going to the garage is for preferred members. Only had two ladies working the desk when the line was almost 10 deep. Finally get the ticket and they hadn't brought the car upstairs by the time we got there.

Our company switched from National to Avis and it has been a complete disappointment. Avis does not let you choose your car and the car they give you is a piece of junk. My last car was a Kia Metro with 55K miles that was dirty and smelled like an ashtray. I tried updating the car on their mobile app and I kept getting an error (the app is completely useless). The only alternative was waiting an hour at the counter, who wants to do that after traveling all day. I am supposedly a presidents member or whatever their frequent renter program is called but that does nothing as far as getting a decent rental. On top of that, the people that work at the rental centers are useless and very unfriendly. I hope our company goes back to National, it was a much better experience. All my co-workers that travel complain how bad Avis is and say the same thing.
