So thankful to find these volunteers in Powhatan! They took the time to come by everyday to get the dogs comfortable and happy with each other, until we were sure they'd be a good fit and to make sure we'd be a forever home. Now we have another happy, wonderful, rescue pup!

I am a volunteer with FURS and want to address that there was an issue with our phone when a poster called to volunteer..it was totally out of our hands...I have the highest regard for this organization and that is why 15 yrs ago I joined..this is a small group of volunteers who care deeply about each and every dog. Our mission is to find the best forever home. If we place a dog and it does not fit, we will take the dog back,.and work again to find a good fit

This agency was extremely responsive with initial questions about a dog we were interested in and then completely ignored us and never responded after we submitted an application. I understand that your job is to match the right dog with the right family, but after filling out a lengthy application where we diligently shared a lot of personal information about our family and home, a follow up about their decision would have been welcomed and helpful. I apprehensively and politely acknowledged that they had likely not chosen us after not hearing anything for over a month and reached out to ask if they had anything we could do in the future to make ourselves or our home more suitable to a dog and was again ignored. As a former dog foster, animal rescue volunteer, and rescue pet owner for my entire life, I would recommend at least responding to people after asking for so much information about them and their family. Practices like these drive people to shop instead of adopt so please be mindful of how you treat people. By not treating them with dignity and respect you may be discouraging them from adopting, which, as a rescue animal advocate, I would hate to see.

Good organization. Unfortunately the dog I adopted wasn't a good fit, they give you a 2 week trial period and they took him back, no hard feelings or judgment on their part. Would definitely consider them in the future.

This is a wonderful organization. They do a terrific job with the animals. I would definitely encourage you to adopt from them.
