JMU parents: We moved out in July - it's now the middle of October and they will not return the security deposit. We have called, written letters, and visited the offices. Nothing. Now - after 3 months - suddenly we have charges on our account? Hmmm. Avoid this building and this company. Scam artists.

Living at 865 has been amazing! Jessica, the property manger, is so great! She’s very understanding, helpful and does amazing at her job! If you want to live comfortably and enjoy the amenities 865 is the place to be!

Absolutely dreadful experience here. Always gross elevators and things broken. DON’T EXPECT USE OF ANY AMENITIES. Always “renovating” with inconsistent deadlines. No one I know enjoys living here go to Sunchase, Altitude, even the hills is more enjoyable.

865 is amazing, with great amenities. Jessica, the property manger, is so wonderful and will help with any needs to the best of her ability. 865 is very personal, always gets on fixing/replacing anything, honestly such a great place to live. Highly recommend as a student at JMU.

Jessica and James are two of the most courteous and diligent people I've came across while renting. I stayed at 865 this past fall for my last semester and Jessica got me sorted so quickly! Living there was a breeze. If I ever needed mail secured or held, James would do so. I can't speak for the other reviews or people - but this was my favorite experience living-wise during my time at JMU. Getting my security deposit back also went without a hitch as it was sent priority mail. All in all just a great experience and the cherry on top of my last semester!

My daughter lived at 865 for two years and we had been happy with the service at the apartment management. They are very responsive to all the repairs and replacements with appliances. The location is great for my daughter , it's a short walk down the hill to campus and there are buses that drop off and pick up by the apartment. Parking was also good. Jessica, Joey, Jon, and all the staff at 865 East are always there to help. They were very friendly and attentive to all the needs of residents of the building and the common areas were very clean. Whenever I had questions, Jessica would very promptly answer my questions and concerns. They were very accommodating and flexible with the lease terms and they always looked out for my daughter. The one issue we had was since a lot of students live in the building, the weekends would get noisy especially since a lot of fraternities live on the same street. Overall, as a parent I would recommend 865 East for JMU student off- campus housing.

Fantastic place for any student or full time worker to live. Spacious apartments. Management is awesome and will work if you to fit any accommodation. Highly recommended to any and all. Pet friendly with plenty of parking.

They never return phone calls or emails and they're trying to scam us out of our deposit. Beware of this unethical operation. We will be reporting this company to the BBB and the VREB.

Horrible staff, absolutely no conscience at all. My car got towed even though there was no signage at the entrance I went through indicating their policy of "no overnight parking" and the general manager basically told me to go kick rocks and got mad that I had the audacity to ask them to make it right. I cant really speak to the quality of the facility, but those are definitely not people I'd trust with my home

My son lived at 865 and had a wonderful experience. It is safe, furnished, and ran efficiently by the manager, Chris Hodge. Chris was responsive to all requests and very professional. He handled the COVID crisis with empathy offering payment plans for those in need. Chris knows how to relate and work with students. I highly recommend 865 East.

I have only lived at 865 for about 4 months and I already feel more at home here than my actual home. The landlord, Sir Christopher, is the most resourceful person I have ever met. He is at every residents beck and call and lives to serve the building. What may seem like a long walk to/from your parking spot is actually an opportunity to admire the beauty of this building and the Shenandoah valley. It is also the safest apartment complex in Harrisonburg by far. Can't imagine living anywhere else!
