Best YMCA in the Hampton roads region! The atmosphere is amazing and the staff and other members are so friendly and sweet! Some of the equipment gets broken or doesn't work(however it's not common) but there's so many machines it doesn't hinder your workout at all. I lived in Chesapeake and I loved the Greenbrier YMCA bc of the atmosphere and I was scared that the YMCA in Hampton wasn't going to have as nice an atmosphere but honestly it's better!

I'm sure these people are nice and all but it's 7:10 AM and I'm calling them and it goes straight to voicemail. Not sure if their hours are correct but I'm just trying to ask a question. Can someone pick up?
Edit: I switched it from 3 to 1 star because now it is 8:15 AM, and your phone rings then straight to voice message saying it's unavailable. I do hope you guys realize your time on Google says open on Sunday at 7:00 AM
Edit edit: they picked up when I called around 9 AM and it is huge. The locker rooms are super clean and nice. Saunas, steam room are in the men's locker room, and fancy showers. I judged to quickly and for that, I will give a 5 star review. I know when I'm wrong.

I was referred to the physical therapy office for pelvic floor/abdominal separation after having birth in June 2023. The office is nice and the receptionists are pleasant. I was seen by Christine. All was well, I was making progress.
On my last visit, I mentioned to Christine that I was experiencing intense body aches from holding my baby during her birthday party. Christine recommended that I purchase the tush baby which, great idea but it’s not the best for long term wear. I told her I’d look into it but the overall issue was that my 12 month old was not yet fully walking so we have to tote her around.
When I said this, Christine said, “oh, she’s a late bloomer” immediately I was offended but then remembered that she doesn’t have children of her own so she may not understand that walking may not happen right at/before 12 months. Later on in our session she follows up the ignorant comment with saying that baby is lazy and that’s why she’s not walking — I found this so strange for her to say this as an overweight physical therapist because how do the two
coincide??
After this remark, she got up to pick something up from the printer in another room and just before walking she says something along the lines of, “it’s so nice that you make her feel safe and loved but that’s probably why she isn’t walking”. I finished the session with no expectations of returning. I thought that maybe I was being sensitive but relayed this interaction to my primary physician and she assured that not only was it inappropriate/weird but also that she was more than happy to refer me to another practice
I would recommend this office to friends as it was a great experience until it was not. I’m hoping Christine heals from whatever is ailing her and that she finds a way to foster more hospitable disposition in her professional social life

Let me just start by saying I love the YMCA and their point in trying to be the family gym. But they are so expensive. My daughter and I are both financially strapped and went to see if they had help available for low income families. Gotta have all these paystubs, W2 from the previous year, etc…and payment would still be close to $50 a month. Guess we won’t be joining. Would loved to have taken some classes, go swimming and put my granddaughter in the playgroup while we work out. So much for families getting fit together at an affordable cost. ?

It's one of the nicer Y's by far.
The pool is cleaner. I even think It's salt water instead of those chlorine infested kinds.
