So my initial review was for U-Haul over all as a company. I'm updating it to 4 stars for the location because they were actually really helpful and accommodating for our recent move. It rained a good bit which put us behind schedule. When I called to extend the truck rental they were really understanding and actually gave me 2 days for free because of the weather. I'll definitely use them if the need ever arises.

I made a reservation online on a Saturday morning for a 17' truck for pickup at 3pm the same day. After going through the process online, the website said I had a reserved truck and sent me an email with a confirmation number. Everything appeared to be in order, until I went to the pickup location. I arrived a few minutes before 3pm and tried to use the mobile pick-up but it said the equipment was not ready and told me to check in at the service desk. So I went up to the service desk and waited until they could help me. I told the service rep that I had an online reservation for a 17' truck and showed her the confirmation email on my phone. She asked me when I had made the reservation and I told her around 9am this morning. She replied, 'Oh, that's why. We don't have any trucks available.' So I made a reservation, received confirmation, and then was not able to rent a truck and had to cancel my moving plans for the day.

I got a trailer hitch installed at this location. If you're looking to do the same, save yourself the headache and go through the dealer for your vehicle. I had a blown fuse and the hitch hookup cord connected to the battery had the cover left off and the cord was smack up against the coolant tube and melting onto it. What was supposed to be something useful for an upcoming move is now not going to be used because the lights weren't working properly. Waste of money and time.

Wish I could give them negative star feedback. Scheduled an apt two weeks in advance to have a hitch installed on my truck. Apt day arrives and they dont have the part, rescheduled us to the next day- no part. Called on the 3rd day- no part. They call and say they got the part to come in, we do and they cant finish bc they have the WRONG part. Rescheduled to the following day at 11. We call to see if they have the part and no one knows. THEN the rude lady in the office said that we had to pay an $8 difference before we could get the part. WTH ok no problem. I needed this done for an event the following day and am now screwed. Not only did we have t juggle our work schedules, deal with insanely rude and uncaring staff but now we have less than 24 hours to get our trailer to an event without a hitch. ............. I know things happen. No problem but lack of communication, lack of empathy and lack of professionalism have soured me toward this company.

The employees were nice, but the uhauls were not in good shape. The drivers side mirror was loose and hanging off- I had to reach out and hold the mirror in order to use it. The steering was not alined. And the rubber on the doors was falling off. Most concerning was the mirror it was not safe to drive and when I called they were not very helpful. I wouldn't recommend getting a uhaul from this location.

I rented a pick last Friday. I had a reservation so at check-in I had no major issues. I drove the truck from Uhaul on Mercury and made a u turn to had towards Jefferson Ave. By the time I reached the Wendy's on the corner of Cunningham and Mercury, the truck stalled and cut off on me. I restarted it. I began to drive and the car began shaking. The dash displayed "Oil Change". I was afraid to continued for fear of being with transportation so I called a friend to go with me. He witnessed what I did. We finally returned the truck short of some errands we needed to run and by this time I was very shaken. When I arrived and went over to the rep who checked in previously to explain that the truck rides rough and cuts off. He told me "I aint got nothing to do with it. I explained that the oil change indicator was on and he told me "You gotta take that up with the mechanics". About 6 or 7 people witnessed his eyeballs swell and his voice got loud so much so that the male friend I was with did not respond to his meanness and said lets just go in and report it because he may have hit me next. The manager there was with another customer. After about 10 mins of waiting for her I just left. Cried home from the embarrassment. I've done business with Uhaul for about 30 years. Never have I been so embarrassed and hurt for a service I paid for. Either he gets fired or I take it to Corporate Executives. If he did this to me, he's done it before and will do it again. I don't want anyone to have that experience I had.

WE MOVED!!! U-Haul Moving and Storage at Coliseum got the job done! Located 1023 West Mercury Blvd. Hampton, VA 23666 , opening at 7am every day, closing at 8 pm but it'll be smart to check up on their hours per COVID-19; not sure if they have changed. This U-Haul Moving and Storage facility wasn't the biggest location but taking on a large parking lot and housing several moving/storage units; this place is quite large. My father and I were assisted by Ms. Angie ... she was super kind and very helpful. We got a 15-foot truck after looking at our options. The rental cost was very affordable and we were able to return the vehicle before our submitted return date. Thank you, U-Haul!

I don't really have any complaints about our most recent experience, but then again, there's not a lot to write home about either. Customer service was okay, the truck was in decent condition, the equipment we'd reserved was available immediately upon pick up. We tried the online pick up / reservation to get ahead of any line that could be there in the morning, but that didn't work. With that said, they moved through the line very quickly and we were out of there in 10 minutes. Only down side was there was no parking available for non U-Haul vehicles. Check out upon return was very smooth, no extras, no unforeseen or hidden costs attached, so all in all a pretty successful move for us. Would definitely use this location again - highly recommend moving on a week day instead of the weekend as it can get a bit chaotic in here I've been told!

I've been calling once a week for the past month maybe month and a half to see if the propane is back up and running and it's still not fixed. It's a huge inconvenience to have to drive all the way to J Clyde in my food truck once a week to have to fill up propane. Such a big name company like "U-Haul" you would think it would be fixed ASAP. Nope. Poor management

Had a reservation from 27 Apr for a 26' truck and auto transport and call on 17 May to add additional days for my upcoming pickup date of 19 may and the lady on the phone tells me they do not have any equipment. Would be understandable if i had at least got a email or phone call! Would have showed up for nothing and had to scramble for equipment. Other than the lack of respect to notify a customer of no equipment available , the lady on the phone was respectful and found another location with the gear 25 minutes away. All i can say is be proactive and call ahead to confirm they actually have what you need because you can't rely on them too.

I reserved my vehicle online and opted for the mobile check in to save time. It has been years since I've used a UHaul but I know weekends can be very busy with movers, so I appreciate anything to save time. When we arrived their mobile check in is down so we are forced to wait in line after all. The line isn't too bad because there aren't many customers waiting... and by that I mean we walked in, we were next in line and the previous customer was almost done with their transaction. I guess it's not moving season. When we are called I explain about the online reservation and the mobile check in. Apparently they always have issues with mobile check in. Might be safe to say they should remove the option of it doesn't work. I had to go through the process again despite the attendant finding my reservation. The attendant who helped us was courteous enough, nothing stood out as exemplary, nor did he seem rude. He instructed us on where to find our vehicle but it was said fast and in a monotone voice that I didn't quite get what he said, luckily my husband did. He said our vehicle was "to the right on the Bojangles side of the building". I expected to go to the right and meet with an attendant who would verify the vehicle with me. Apparently not, we would have to search for our vehicle around the building way in the back by their loading dock. I was a little confused. Do they not pull your vehicle up for you anymore? Or was that just a courtesy at all the previous uhaul locations I have been to? After a while we find our vehicle parked way in the back of their fleet, in a spot where we need to carefully maneuver out as their are vehicles to the front and sides and a wall behind. When we did successfully get the vehicle out of its parking spot we still could not exit the premises because there was a personal vehicle blocking the only exit out. While I understand that is not the fault of uhaul or their employees, I also believe there should be no parking signs to avoid this happening to begin with. Now it has been 15 mins since we have had the keys and we are still at uhaul. Fast forward: We finally get off of their property we go straight home (less than 2 miles away) load the truck and transport the contents to Goodwill (less than a mile away from uhaul and halfway between our home)- we literally made a circle within a 2-3 mile radius and we return the vehicle. The attendant who took the vehicle from my husband did not do a closing inspection with him, they didn't check the mileage or the gas. We did not get a receipt and we were told we would get an email. It was estimated we would use the vehicle for 12 miles... and in the past whatever unused miles that were estimated were refunded. So when I arrived to pick up my husband I asked for a physical receipt, as I had yet to receive the email receipt, and just S I suspected they did not make any adjustments to that affect (the receipt showed we used exactly 12 miles- how convenient and tidy). Since we no longer had possession of the vehicle, I felt we could not fight it and it was such a minuscule charge it wasn't worth the fight. So I come here to heed warning. If you rent from this location, be prepared for what we weren't expecting at all. If you feel you have driven the vehicle less than the original estimated miles: make sure you check your mileage before exiting the vehicle, take a picture with your phone if need be, and ask the attendant to take note as well. Ask for a physical receipt before you leave the vehicle in their hands and verify your adjustments were made. The amount I was overcharged for miles was, in my mind, minuscule but if they are doing this to every customer they are pocketing a good amount over time. We may or may not return to this location in the future. We have consider hiring movers for our next move to avoid the hassle. If we do decide to return we will take our own advice and document everything. In the meantime I will be contacting corporate customer service to verify the standards of practice

Me and my wife rent a truck in u haul florida to move to Virginia. When we return the truck in virginia the place in mercury Blvd did not have the storage size we requested when we make the reservation so they gave us two units. My mother in law passed away while we where moving so we had to leave our stuff in the uhaul storage, we explain the manager a fat ass that we had to leave and come back and did not have to vacate the storage in time before late fees start adding up. We had to pay $500.00 before this facility let us get our stuff. Unbelievable.
