My experience was good. The customer service agent was pleasant and handled my transaction with no issue. I had an appointment and they took me a few minutes early. I was in and out. Bottom line is if you have your documents ready, it will go smoothly.

Came in this morning just to find whole state system is down would be nice if they place this on their site here. Wasted almost 2 hrs just sitting here. Waiting for them to accept paperwork but got fed up and left. Try again monday

On my dad's 90th birthday in August, I took him to this DMV to relinquish his DL for a REAL ID. Didn't have one issue.Yesterday, a full 6 days BEFORE my mom's 83rd birthday, I took her to the very same DMV for her to do the same.Only to be told she needed to have come 30 days prior to her birthday, and that she needed her birth certificate, proof of residency, and a bunch of other nonsense!Obviously, this was a different person than my dad's.I don't believe that, for one moment, the second young lady knew what she was doing.My mom is beyond consolation over this. She's confused and doesn't comprehend how she has to provide documentation for a REAL ID as if she'd never had a VA license for the last 65+ years!Not to mention, there was no additional documentation needed for my dad!!

All the Representatives were professional, courteous, and Friendly. I picked an excellent day because the amount of customers was low, so my appointment scheduled at 12 was completed by 12:30, testing included! I'm sure there have been bad experiences had by some, but as a DSS Customer Service Supervisor, I understand both sides of the counter. I want to commend the Newport News/Hampton DMV on Roanoke Avenue for an Excellent Customer Service experience. All of the workers were willing to help with a pleasant demeanor, even if you weren't assigned to them. I'm looking forward to my next visit, soon.

Needed to get some things done and was absolutely DREADING IT! but it was done quick fast and a hurry! And best of all NO ONE WAS RUDE TO ME AND THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL, ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS! Best DMV experience I’ve ever had in my life Lmao especially miss Elena (I hope I’m spelling her name right :) thank you all again!!

The key to avoid spending a lot of time waiting in line is to make an appointment on the DMV website, download and complete all necessary forms. Doing that made my visit last less than 10 mins. i was in and out while people were still in line at the information counter

I tried..LAWD I tried. It was like getting disrespected and going back for more. This was my second encounter at this dmv and these CSR's are by FAR the rudest EVER. They have attitude just because its MORNING, LIKE WOW!
