It *could* be a lovely Barnes & Noble. I got a latte and was ready to look at books except there was absolutely no places to sit. Lots of people just sitting at all the tables and all the chairs looking up their phones or asleep. Yep. Asleep. Nobody was looking at books. There was also a strange smell. Not your new book smell that you would normally smell at a Barnes & Noble but more like a "gee, I forgot to take a bath in the last couple of days" smell and it wafted throughout the entire store. It was just crowded, unnerving and uncomfortable. I was planning to buy some books but I simply left with my scalding hot coffee burning my hand. Worst Starbucks coffee ever had by the way. It tasted like hellish-hot brown sadness water. I'll know better next time.

The store is usually my go to when I’m on the peninsula, but on this occasion, when I try to exchange a book that I had bought as a gift for someone else, the clerk claimed that the book was fairly used and would not provide me the ability to exchange for another book. One edge of the book was wrinkled but the remainder of the book was new. I have a membership with Barnes & Noble‘s which means I have bought many books through here, so to me that was a total insult. I will not be using this particular store in Hampton Virginia again.

I love book stores, but it seems like they never have the books I'm looking for.

I am always treated pleasantly, courteously and efficiently at this B&N store. I also usually find the books, CDs, toddler's toys and games, and other items I am looking for here.

Barnes and Nobel: Great store. And again, without the experience of a really nice, upscale, library- cafe. From those who like to spew graphic, and inhumane obscenities for those who are trying to quietly adhere to usual rules of respect and courteoudy , as if one is in an actual library. The supervisor has been contacted. Also, a submission to The Department of Justice for an ethics review of the demeanor and attitudes displayed while visiting.

Pleasant place for book reading with a coffee ☕️ at Starbucks. Gifts for Christmas are ready?

There are few things more pleasurable than going to a bookstore, relaxing, and paging through the aisles. It’s hard to do these days because other online book-selling venues are so much cheaper. Why pay the extra price? It’s all about the experience. Barnes & Noble knows this, I think, which is why they make their interior so welcoming. I went into this Barnes & Noble randomly. I had run an errand nearby and had some extra time. I went in, strolled around, found a book, and decided it was time to go. I thought I would get a cup of coffee and check out. I went to the cafe, but no one was there. I could hear someone behind the counter, perhaps in a back room, but they didn’t come to serve me. After about 5 minutes of just standing there, I decided to forego the coffee, but just then someone came out. They looked kind of surprised I was there and a little put out. I ordered a small coffee and asked if I could pay for my book there. They said, ‘I think so. I just got back.’ Not completely sure what that meant, I said, ‘Well, if I can, I would like to.’ Then I noticed there was a promotion, a Stephen King book for $5 on the counter. The signage said that if I purchased a cafe item, I could get the $13 book for $5. Seeing that was a good deal, I added that to my order. When the person rang up my Stephen King book, however, it rang up for $13. I said, ‘Wait, that’s not correct.’ They apologized and took it off, but they needed to consult a manager to figure out how to ring it using the promotional price. Anyway, I paid for my books and coffee and left. The coffee was cold and really bitter, pretty much undrinkable. All in all, I did not have a good experience. I hope I don’t come off as a complainer. I really love going to Barnes & Noble, but there were so many annoying little things that added up to me being in a bad mood after I left. From my point of view, I paid extra for books, paid for overpriced coffee that was undrinkable, and the service seemed either untrained or indifferent. If the corporate leadership of Barnes & Noble wonders why people are using online bookstores over brick-and-mortar stores, a story like mine might clarify some of the issues. (Also, this wasn’t a busy time or anything. It was in the middle of the day on a weekday).

It's a Paradise to book lovers, any kind of lecture you want, good coffee, cozy place. I totally love it. I really recommend it if you want to have a date with someone who loves books. For me it is a great place to take my wife for "coffee and reading" date.

This is a slowly dieing pastime store. Carter's more to anime now than normal reading. But still nice to go in to find a rare gem to read.

Manga book of light series seems to be the new trend. My granddaughter asked me to take her to Barnes & Noble so she could get the "light" series Blessings.... We got the series, and the number of books and space to view, sit, and review was very pleasant. The next plus Starbucks. Let's just say she is going to enjoy her ☀️ . Thank you, Barnes & Noble for making this trip to your store easy.
