“I’ve been doing with Mike and the team for 15+ years. He is the most honest and trustworthy worthy mechanic I’ve ever met. The team does excellent work and their customer service is always above and beyond.”
“My son recommended Progressive to me when I first moved to Virginia in 2014. I brought my Miata in a couple of times. But it was 16 miles from my home in Ashburn. I found someone in Leesburg, 10 miles away. They were nice, so I started going to them for everything. They did good work, but I thought they were too expensive.
Then my air bag light came on and stayed on. They told me that the part was $1200, but they couldn’t get it because Mazda had quit making it. They also told me that replacing that part would be 12 hours’ labor. A little investigation revealed that the price of the part, had it been available, would have been $538 at most; and it was four hours, max, to install it. Then they gave me back my car. I was on my own with a car that wouldn’t pass inspection. That did it! They must have thought I was just a woman who knew nothing about cars; so they took advantage of me.
My son suggested Progressive again; “They do good work, and they’re honest.” I found the needed part on eBay and bought four of them just in case. Then I took my car and my four used air bag diagnostic modules to Progressive. The owner, Jeff, was very nice; but he told me they didn’t install customer-supplied parts. Oh, no! I explained that the part had been discontinued, that the air bags wouldn’t work without it, that it wouldn’t pass inspection, that a used module was all that was available.
Jeff took pity on me and made an exception with the caveat that he couldn’t guarantee it would work. The following times are approximate but fairly close. The first module took Josh The Mechanic about three hours to install, but it was bad. The second took about two and a half hours; I got halfway home and the light came on and stayed on. Then Jeff told me he was going to discount the charges on the next one; he was starting to feel sorry for me. I was grateful. The third bag took about two hours; the light started flashing seven times, indicating a bad passenger air bag. I had one; Josh installed it in a short time, but the air bag light continued to flash. Josh determined that the code was invalid. He installed the fourth air bag module in about an hour and a half; he was getting really fast at it! The light went off and stayed off except that it came on briefly at startup.
My air bag woes were over! I figure this air bag, like the car itself, is about 22 years old. So it’s likely that it will eventually go bad. But for now, the Miata and I are happy. Jeff and Josh are happy, too.
I won’t take my Miata anywhere else. That 16 miles is a pleasant 24-minute drive. And Progressive has a waiting area with comfy chairs and fresh coffee and cocoa and a basket full of candy.”
“This shop just found a new customer for life! After a recent trip I had a weight distribution hitch come loose, that needed adjustment in order to safely pull my travel trailer RV. Stopped by nice gentleman sent me down street to Browning Equipment for a 5/8 x 1/2 in bolt. Returned back within 15 minutes hitch was adjusted/tightened to proper alignment sent me on my way. I was able to support two local mom and pop businesses for one hassle free job. Anytime I’m in need of hitch work, wheel bearing greasing or tires I will be back. Very grateful there is still honest, nice hardworking shops in Loudoun County.”
