Gretna Food Lion is located in a tiny town at the intersection of US route 29 and 40. As such, it is typical of that brand of stores that can be found throughout our region. Atypically, however, this particular grocery store is fortunate to serve the public with a smile, and attention to detail that makes shopping there a true pleasure. When we are on our way to a weekend at Smith Mountain lake, we usually hit this store late in the evening, just before closing time, to pick up perishable and frozen foods that wouldn't travel well over the drive from Richmond. Even at such a late hour, we always find the store to be fresh and well stocked, and the cashiers to be ready with a smile and a kind word.

How long before you fix the men's restroom? I mean, can you not afford to fix it or just too busy to call someone to fix it .ridiculous you can't even piss while grocery shopping won't be back. Don't care if you fix the damn thing or not. I'm just letting you know for someone else's sake now.

For a smaller Food Lion, this store has some of the hardest working individuals I've ever met. The store manager is a professional that knows how to run a store with passion and care. They are conveniently located next to my job and is a quick stop for groceries on the way home.

I gave them 3 stars because the employees are friendly, but they really need to pay attention to their produce. I won't shop at this location anymore because of the nasty produce. Twice I got home & noticed mold on what I just purchased. First time was strawberries, second was blueberries. It wasn't worth the gas money to drive all the way back, & I shouldn't have to inspect produce for mold before I buy it. It wasn't just a little mold either. I'll drive the extra 10 minutes to Chatham from now on.
