Dr. Maurice herself took 54 minutes to get down on the floor and earn my dog trust before she even started examining him. She’s as good with people as she is with animals, she explained to me a number of treatment options for my dog’s paw condition, and collaborated with me on a solution. I cannot recommend highly enough.

I appreciate everything about this practicing including kindness of the staff and ease of getting appointments scheduled. Our dogs see Dr. Shaw. He is very compassionate, knowledgeable, and kind. Putting one of our dogs down was one the hardest things that we’ve ever had to do. Dr. Shaw was so supportive during the entire process.

Shady Grove Animal Clinic
11399 Nuckols Rd, Glen AllenNot sure why it has taken me this long to write this review, since we luckily found Shady Grove Animal Clinic 12 years ago. Dr. Lucas is our main vet here, and he is very knowledgeable, patient and caring. Since we have 2 dogs with multiple medical issues, we have been cared for by every vet at the facility and they are all terrific. The entire staff is very friendly, professional and accommodating. But if you don’t believe me, ask our dog who never wants to leave this place and can’t wait to visit again!

We used to take him somewhere else and he would do anything to not go in the place. When he gets to Apple he wags his tail and is ready to see Kyle and Addison!! 3016 Mountain Rd, Glen AllenCon Salsa is such a hidden gem! Their empanadas always have an impressive crunch to them, nice sweet tajadas AND salty tostones. The bowl for me is enough for two meals, and so is the massive patacon. Don’t skip the fresh guanábana juice, it’s best I’ve found in the RVA area and a very solid parcha/maracuyá as well. I brought a big group in yesterday to try Venezuelan food for the first time and we took over the whole outdoor seating area and the staff were so attentive, checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed every half hour or so (we were there for two hours), and gave us lots of extra cups and plates to share with each other, which we really appreciated. Extra points for playing Benito on the radio too!!!

James River Cellars Winery
11008 Washington Hwy, Glen AllenWe stayed at James River Cellars as a Harvest Host Guest and had a great visit. The winery has multiple seating areas both indoor and on their patio, plus a nice bar area. One of the highlights of our visit were the employees! They were so friendly and welcoming to us throughout our time there. We started off with a couple flights of their wine to sample what we liked. The wines range from sweeter whites to a couple drier reds. Following a tasting of a few other selections at the bar we decided on one bottle (Rad Red) to share at an indoor table and also grabbed a bottle to enjoy at our camper. We brought our own snacks to enjoy with our wine. It was a relaxing and enjoyable visit.

10421 Woodman Rd, Glen AllenWe adopted small dog at Henrico He was a male stud dog that the owner was asked to not return the dog bEAUASE the was abused since he had major injuries and the owner refused to pay the the Vet .Bill. The dog had 6 injuries not including running a puppy mill with no license so I adopted him. HE DIED on 8/29/2025 from old age of 17 yrs.old. I miss so much he helped me give him a forever home.
