"We're a wholesaler only, you need to contact a contractor" Lousy service, rude over the phone. Hung up without explaining why they wouldn't sell to individuals. These guys are why Home Depot and Lowes are making billions. Too bad I can't buy from a local guy.

"Specialty trade" Specialty in HACKS maybe. If we homeowners could get an honest price and work that just hinted at professionalism and attention to detail it wouldn't be a problem. But this drives guys like me to just do it ourselves. My unit isn't cooling well. oh, you need a new coil. Slap it in half a$$ and charge $2000 for 4hrs work and not even bother to check airflow or static pressure of the system. Static pressure= deer in the head light response. Most of the HVAC industry is a total HACK and rip off. 2 stars because I need a license to replace some flex duct. C'mon

as a service i went there to buy 2 tools ,well we only sell to contractors, but ,the guy in there says i would not advise u to buy online ,cause u dont know what u getting, and i am thinking why dont u sell it to me,as it turns out their loss .got it on amazon, and it was less in cost . that might be the begining of the ,end for these ,club stores, heres my advice have a zero return policy on parts ,no sale of refrigerants without a cfc .that might build your profits ,as for me re micheals or amazon,or northeastern supply .

Dean Shuck, I agree with you but at the same time disagree, I know a bunch of so called "Licensed" HVAC guys that they Still don't know how to do a Good job, in many cases a shity job, that I have to repair because of lack of knowledge about BASIC stuff, so a Licence doesn't mean anything to me, I been in this trade for 34 years non stop, not licence from VA State, [not to brag about it] but I NEVER burn a Fan motor or compressor, and in my 34 years in the trade if I have 3 call back from a customer is a lot, again, Licence is just the permit to buy equipment and parts, I know a lot of guys too that they just took the test, pass and don't know how to wire a T-stat...

I applaud Johnstone Supply for NOT selling to the general public and non licensed contractors. As a wholesale supply house your commitment to sell only to properly licensed contractors protects the industry and the public on many levels. Public safety is but one reason. The licensed contractor makes extensive investments in education, training, tools and equipment to provide proper quality service to the public, and a loyal customer base to their wholesalers. The wholesaler makes extensive investments in an operation to provide knowledge and access to manufactures and their goods. and a consistent supply line of trade specific materials to the licensed contractor for resale. To sell to the general public and unlicensed contractors undermines the system and puts all that at risk.

They sale blowers to contractors only. WHAT A JOKE.Their reasoning, "if we sale a part to someone who isn't a contractor and they install it incorrectly it could blow up or burn down the house."With that reasoning we shouldn't sell food to people because they might choke or sell car parts because people might blow up cars too.Way to go Unions( aka contractor organizations), you once again found a way to undermine the American spirt of self sufficiency and found a way to make sure you squeeze your fellow American. We'll done Johnston Suppliers, you've joined the ranks of liberals who wave the flag but actively find ways to usurp American values.WgclareCombat Vet

Called Johnstone Supply looking for a part to repair oil burning furnace. Minor part. Am a licensed home improvement contractor. Johnstone mgr Emilio said that since I was not an hvac contractor, I couldn't purchase. Sounds like discrimination to me.... But in the meantime, I offered to do some advertising for them. Hate that I had to give them even 1star. Thanks Johnstone!
