My first time meeting Dr. Quisinberry, the Saturday vet at Companion Animal Clinic. He is warm, reassuring, knowledgeable and reasonable in his approach to a puzzling issue. I appreciate him very much!

My French Bulldog has been suffering from typical bulldog issues (airway/breathing problems) as he's gotten older. I was referred to Dr. Dove by a few of the other frenchie owners I know in the area. They all advised that he was the best in the DMV area. I took my dog in, and Dr. Dove was extremely straight forward in terms of he can't diagnose everything (such as airway issues) while Ube was awake. He said he'd provide a quote for the full operation, but it could be less should he not need the other sections of his airway worked on. I was quoted about $1500. I did call around and get other quotes, and let me tell you... $1500 was the best pricing. Other vets told me upwards of $4600 for this same surgery! I was able to schedule Ube on rather short notice as well. Turns out, Ube didn't even need the other sections worked on so it was much less than $1500. I appreciated the communication, and the honesty with pricing. I would 100% recommend this place. I drove over an hour for it and now found my new vet for my dog.

Great service and always available to help! As a long time breeder, I really value the professionalism and knowledge of the Doctors, especially Dr. Kunze. Everyone is so helpful and just want to take care of the dogs as best as possible. And the renovations are great!

I wrote this review only because I went to send them an email with pictures of my dog and clicked on yelp as a shortcut to pull up their website so I could get their email address and I was surprised to see them under four stars. I just read some of the other reviews and not sure if the place I am going to is a new location/building that is different than the one being reviewed years ago. I don't see anything wrong regarding cleanliness or condition of the building. I also have no significant complaints about the staff. They call to confirm, they always seem pleasant - they can sometimes be rushed, but they have never been rude or uncaring. Dr. Dove is an excellent vet (esp if you have a bulldog) with a busy practice. If you do 100 things right and one thing wrong...that person always can take that one thing wrong and hop on Yelp, I guess. The one review saying they didn't care about their dog I have never had reason to doubt these folks care about my dog. Silliness...

Was a customers since 2007, over the past 2 years this place has gone completely downhill. They over prescribed my dog steroids which resulted in a blockage that they did not "have time to treat". They refused to answer an emergency call from another vet to get his records... after of which we found out that my dog had been over prescribed medication for years. The receptionists are always quick to push you off the phone. When I called for the emergency, she referred someone else and hung up. My family and I will NEVER be returning.

So, I have had nothing but negative experiences with this vet. I really can't think of one good thing to say about them. I have a seven-year-old English Bulldog with allergies. We have tried many things for him, but finally settled on a diet, jam packed with vitamins and nutritional supplements, that we make ourselves. I am used to vets dismissing this, but of all the things we have tried - including all the medications they prescribe - this is the only thing we have done that works and keeps him healthy! I went to this vet because I thought they had a good understanding about bulldogs and they also offered the allergy testing that I knew Cooper needed. To be clear, we live in DC and this place is an hour away. We don't have a car here, so I rented a car to drive all the way out there. When I walked in, everything was in complete disarray and super dirty. The staff was rude and dismissive. There was no place for us to sit, so we stood awkwardly in the kitchen/makeshift office/ waiting room. We saw Dr. Kunze who was incredibly rude - which I would tolerate if she knew what she was talking about. At the time we saw her, our dog's allergies were at a minimum - very little flare ups or itchiness. But she suggested prednisone for him - STEROIDS! I have seen what this does to other dogs and no thank you! At the same time she dismissed the natural food we have him on and suggesting that we go with some kibble. I spent nearly $1k on the appointment and the allergy test, but after several weeks we had not received the results from the testing. The doctor also refuses to call me back - in fact no one does and they start emailing me instead. Via email, we asked to get a refill for his apoquel that we would only use if the flare ups got worse. Her office refilled it but charged me an excessive amount. I called them and asked them why they had refilled it for two months. I told them we only wanted one month, but I was met with some excuse about the woman who knows how to work the credit card machine being on vacation. In the meantime, the charges aren't reversed but the doctor emails me. I tell her about the confusion with the front desk and she says, well I will talk to them, but most likely "that's just what you are going to get." LOL. I reiterated that I had not authorized the charge and I would report it as fraudulent. Somehow. miraculously, the charges were reversed. I was ready to leave this be, but I am now asking for my dog's medical records and they are refusing to give them to me or respond to my emails. Would not recommend this place.
