Believe ALL the reviews. I read those reviews and thought it couldn't be that bad and the location was a good option instead of traveling in to the DC VA. Boy...I was wrong!!! It's just bad... they earned those low reviews. If you're so unlucky to come upon Justine (front desk, clerk) at the front desk... just breathe. She is your typical bad VA support staff employee...Rude and repellent.

Always helpful and courteous staff. The hard part is getting an appointment in the first place. Nonavailability of staff results in almost automatic referral to Tricare unless you are already in a clinics database.

Overall my first experiences at this hospital have been surprisingly good. I was able to secure my and attend my first appointment at this hospital with my primary care team quickly despite obstacles on the phone to get established at this hospital at my new address. I parked at the ER area and took the wrong route to the hospital on my first day, but I was able to navigate the hospital to get to the correct location. I like how I was able to get almost everything done immediately: my appointment, pharmacy refill, medical records release forms, and address the doctors I needed for different ailments in one day. It took me six hours to get all this done at this hospital, since I arrived at my first appointment an hour early. Despite the hours spent here, it was quiet and peaceful - no lines or anxiety. This was the most ideal doctor and hospital visit I ever had. Peaceful, spacious and inviting lobby area, easy to locate appointment, gift shop, & pharmacy location, and a Starbucks on the third floor to enjoy iced coffee. It was easy finding the parking lot of the front of the hospital where the hospital's pharmacy is located. Going to the hospital and my first doctor appointments at a new address are always stressful to me due to numerous past experiences, so I was elated to finally have a good firsthand experience.

My experience here was so good that I wrote up one of our nurses for a DAISY award based on the level of care she provided to a minor. We walked into the ER on a Sunday due to an acute condition and was immediately seen with empathy and tact that exceeded my expectations. The bedside manner was most impressive to me, during the initial triage to the imagery and even throughout the brief hospital admission, the medial team made certain that all parties were aware of 1) the recommended path forward 2) why the path forward was to the benefit of the patient and 3) ensure all questions were addressed to the patient's satisfaction. A superb experience and while we certainly do not hope to return to the facility for emergency care, it's terrific knowing it is available should the need arise.

The service through the Ft Belvoir Hospital system has gotten so bad, it would be laughable, except it is sad. It is impossible to find anyone who is willing to help you. All of the "desk personnel" and "phone answerers" are basically the same person, a bitter, grouchy, unhelpful person who seems to think that answering a patient's question or even speaking to a patient is an annoyance and they are doing you a favor for helping you. The doctors and nurses are great, if you can get past the unfriendly, unprofessional admin people.

Basically sucks! A few weeks ago, Spent 3.5+ hours waiting on prescriptions, post surgery, when they were placed ahead of time by the surgical doctor. The pharmacy had no clue. Today in the ER for a different issue, so far waiting 5 hours just to be seen after arriving at 0345 in the morning. The ER is always understaffed and has been for years. Go somewhere else if you can. This place is a totally unorganized and a bureaucratic mess. Too bad, this used to be a good hospital. It has gone down hill over the past 5 years.

There is something so nice about Fort Belvoir Hospital and the Army Network of clinics and hospitials in the DC area. I do not know who to thank: the providers I have worked with, the Army Command who oversees it all, Army Medicine in general, or the architech/engineers who designed such a pleaseant place to visit (Fort Belvoir Communitity Hospital). In about the past year, I have sought treatment/care at both Fort Belvoir, Kimbrough, and the Fairfax Clinic. At all places, I received great customer service not only from the providers but also the staff walking the hallways. They are kind and welcoming. To me, this is a sign of a healthy, pleasent working environment where staff is well taken care of and respected. Patients and families want care in such environments. Great customer service goes a long way. It makes a strong initial impression. It also helps patients and families in their health care journey. Parking is great by the way. This simple feature helps out so much. Visiting these places brings back great memories of years ago working at the former Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, DC before it was shut down (a huge loss to this day). Walking the hallways I got the sense that the care was equal to all: the lower ranking officer or enlisted is just as important as a four star general and their family members. Thanks Army for taking care of your people and once again doing an outstanding job!

Ft. Belvoir CBOC 9300 Dewitt Loop Fort Belvoir, VA 22060-5285 Fort Belvoir CBOC Clinic/Department of Veterans AffairsThis review is to share the patient experience my husband and I have received from our VA health partners. Simply put, it was and remains outstanding. Dr. K and his PACT team have helped us throughout a very difficult medical journey this year. Dr. K accommodated our need for telemedicine. He has been patient, supportive and endlessly helpful in making certain my husband has received everything he needs Prior to and following surgery Dr. K has been right beside us ensuring that my husband's needs are met. In addition to Dr. K we have experienced support and care from so many others. Albani G. made magic happen on a Friday night getting my husband out of the hospital and into a rehab (PT and OT) center, transportation - everything taken care of by her diligence and persistence. We also have Stacey H. looking out for us. She made sure we were enrolled in the Caregivers program - she has been a true partner all along the way. Her knowledge and understanding of the VA and the programs have allowed my husband to remain at home with additional help. Then there is our Social Worker at Fort Belvoir, Della T. An amazingly professional and kind woman who takes her job very seriously and is an advocate for her patients. She works long hours, often calling after 5 PM to ensure we have what we need. Her follow up and follow through is unparalleled - we are so lucky to have her on our team. No matter the time of day, when she calls, she is bright, happy and helpful. Of course, there are so many unnamed heroes behind the scenes who we do not know. Today's VA service to our Veterans is something to be very proud of. We are very grateful and want to make certain we share this gratitude with everyone who has helped us along the way. January 2023

Took my daughter to get tested for Covid and strep. Strep came back positive but they said she would need to go onto Tricare online to get her results for Covid but if it was positive someone would be calling. We tried to get her account going as an adult but long story short it wouldn't work. Come to find out we now have Covid and when I called the appt line to find out her results, I was told THEY NO LONGER CALL FOR POSITIVE COVID RESULTS! Which would have been very helpful if the Urgent Care told her this at her initial visit when they tested. Absolutely Unbelievable!!! Not to mention when I went they did not even bother to test me for Covid. I guess Covid isn't important anymore. I've taken 3 people their for strep and only once did we get results told to us from the rapid strep test. When I tried to ask for mine and my son's, all they could say is they don't have the results. Like, do your one job and find them and come back and tell me. Depending on what doctor you see, you will get completely different care. We unfortunately happen to be dealing with strep and covid at the same time (unknown to us at the time) but the viral symptoms side tracked the doctors from addressing the possible bacterial strep, yet they failed to ensure that the viral symptoms they noted were not Covid. Thanks to their going "through the motions and not doing their jobs", my oldest daughter was able to get us all sick with Covid and strep after returning from vacation and now my younger daughter will not be able to walk for her high school graduation. This is what happens when people don't do their jobs correctly. It feels like if you don't know exactly what is wrong with you in military health care system --you are screwed cause they ain't going to figure it out. Also, they no longer give adults antibiotics medication for strep throat?!?!? Why even test me then? I've come to the conclusion that if I am truly in an Emergency situation, I'm going to a real civilian ER where I don't have to wait 5 hours to be seen and then told they don't know where my results are. Also, if you go there with eye issues, your not going to get to see an ophthalmologist, you'll see an ER doc who knows very little about eyes, who will then give you an appointment to see one at the clinic later on. They told me I don't have any pressure in my eyes at the ER. Even the Ophthalmologist I did get to see at Ft Belvoir eye clinic the next day said my pressure was fine, which was odd cause I could feel the pressure. A few weeks later I go to an off base Ophthalmologist--and guess what I have pressure in my eyes! I feel terrible for anyone who has to rely on FBCH for all of their health care needs.

I had two experiences here, the first when my daughter was born. That was something else. Being that I hadn't slept in 3 days most of my cognitive ability was not there. I was emotional and wanted my child and one of the nurses was incredibly incredibly rude to me. About an hour after I had just pushed my child out I was able to go see my child for the first time ( I had around 10 second on my chest then straight to nicu) and was rudely told that sleep is the best thing for the baby right now. I held her for only one minute. That made me incredibly upset. While I understand to some degree as a person dealing with new moms filled with hormones there needs to be some bedside manner. Not to mention the most important thing for baby is actually Mom. But my biggest problem was as a new mom I was not shown any of the equipment to pump. Having a nicu baby I couldn't breastfeed and no one showed me where the pump was or anything I could use to give my child breast milk. I had also pushed the point I very much wanted my child to be exclusively breastfed. I was rudely told that if she needed it they would give her formula. That's all fine and good I would never stop my baby from eating if I couldn't provide but I was never given any update or option. They gave my child formula without any contact with me whatsoever. I was told many many times I should be sleeping, but at that point I was in the nicu every single hour making sure she was fed the breast milk I was finally able to give her. And to make sure the care she was receiving was up to standard. My second experience was fine. It was a gallbladder surgery. I was first in the list and the care was perfect. I had expressed anxiety with anesthesia and was met with a solution immediately. I woke up very upset and crying and was immediately given some medicine to calm down. I healed quickly and have no issues with the care received during the surgery. The NICU and maternity ward teams needs a lot of work though.

I just started using The Veterans Clinic in Sunrise Pavilion today and it surpassed my expectations. From the time I walked in, the security guys were very helpful and professional, one even gave me a quick orientation to the hospital and walked me to my clinic. The medical staff including front desk check in, nurse who took my vitals, and PA Bonnie James (my new primary care) were knowledgeable and professional. I feel my health is in good hands here!

Went to the ER this afternoon for cyst that wouldn't go away. Waited maybe 30 minutes. Doc Dennis and Doc Mummey got me in, discussed the COA, and treated me within an additional 40 minutes. Second best ER visit I've had....In 20+ years serving ....Telling me what they were doing before doing it and engaging me every step of the way is what I call "I give a s*** about you" health care.....Ladies, to include the triage nurses, thank you for taking care of me.
