Love everything about this shop. The pieces are well curated and thoughtful. Many of the pieces are items I save up for - all high quality and ethically made and sourced. Rachel, the shop owner, is very warm and welcoming at every visit and there’s no pressure to make a purchase. Along with clothing, there’s jewelry and other small items. It’s my go to for unique gifts. Location is great - right in downtown and easy to walk to when you’re wandering around.

Me and my sister in law stopped by to check this place out and we loved it. I ended buying the same pants that Rachel the owner was wearing that day, and I genuinely love all the pieces I bought. She curates the store pieces and the store vibe perfectly. I have consistently been wearing 1 or more of her pieces every day since I bought from Phosphene - so it is an investment that is very worth it! I live in Washington DC and any time I head south, I always make a point to stop at Phosphene. Phosphene has what a lot of DC boutiques lack: simplicity, refined home goods, and modern, cool clothes. There is a special vibe to Phosphene, and I always feel so cool inside. Rachel is a gem. Every time I go, she remembers me and my story, and asks about my family. She genuinely wants to connect with each customer and that warmth adds to the overall experience. Do yourself a favor and check out Phosphene. You’ll know what I mean the second you walk in. And while you’re at it, treat yourself to a bottle of Everyday Oil—a product Rachel first recommended to me, and one I’ve been using for years since! ?

I. Love. Phosphene. Every piece of clothing I’ve purchased has been worth the investment because they are so well-made and truly designed to last a lifetime. Phosphene’s owner Rachel is kind and thoughtful and makes it a pleasure to be in her shop. One thing I especially appreciate is there’s never any pressure to make a purchase, because Rachel really wants you to buy with intention and not impulse. She practices what she preaches and really cares about her community.

Phosphene Is an oasis of calm and care. Calm from the delicate scent of the candles and care demonstrated for each person who walks in. Admittedly, I’ve never been in the Phosphene store in Fredericksburg. However? I’ve been to some of the pop ups in the Tysons area and I will say, I just love the whole vibe of Phosphene. I can tell the love and care they put into selecting their pieces. Next time you’re looking to shop sustainably sourced clothing, support this small business!
