It was peaceful, quiet and well taken care of. You aren’t right on top of people which I love and it actually feels like camping. The bathrooms and showers were kept clean and everyone you met was friendly or kept to themselves! The river is a short walk away in campground! We are definitely going back. It’s first come first serve so you need to make sure you get there at a good time to get a good spot (or spot at all) lol

So great. My favorite camping site. Great showers, cozy camp sites ( get there early to pick out the one you want. ) Amazing scenery and hiking trails. ?Restrooms: Very well maintained. Bath house, and pit toilets. Excellent camping resource.Dog-friendliness: Leashed dogs have a lot of fun here. Not too many people had loud overly barking dogs. But the dogs had fun. And so did the people.Picnic area: Great group picnic areas, well maintained. And can accommodate a lot of people.

What an amazing experience! No wifi & no cell. Was a great weekend to disconnect. Host and campers were some of the nicest people one could meet! First come, first serve and sites are pretty big. Can't wait to go back!

Toilets: 2 vault toilets are in the campground and usually well kept. There is a bath house as well with flush toilets and showers, but only open seasonally.
Dog-friendliness: Like all VA parks and national parks, dogs must always be under the owners control and leashed.
Picnic area: Lots of picnic tables in a picturesque wooded area along the creek. However, many of the tables are rotten and falling apart. Well kept vault toilets available.

It's a nice little campground with lots of bird life. It's less than 2 hours from DC and close to Front Royal in case you need to go into town.

My first time there with my family I was in love and we plan to return, but yesterday we had a bad experience, I don't know what happens with the generators that keep on all the time I heard the sound of a generator, there were children crying but it is not annoying for me and who in his right mind complains about a child, the manager should stop watching you so much we did not enjoy this trip I was disappointed.

Welcome to the Elizabeth Furnace Family Trailer Park.....??Yes, I am talking to you with the generator blasting all day long. Yes, you that has the generator out away from your campsite so you don't have to listen/smell it but, everyone else does. Not one person around you went camping tonight so they could sit by the campfire and listen to your generator run. Is it really necessary to run it all but a few minutes to warm up something in a microwave?Yes, I am talking to you Mr/Ms. Millennial, blasting your music so loud that everyone in the campground can hear it. Everyone had a hard week at work too and listening to your choice of music is not how everyone else would like to spend their night of camping.Yes, I am talking to you Mr/Ms Helicopter parents. OMG, do your kids have to be screaming and yelling from the moment you arrive to the time you check out??? Not everyone wants to hear your kids fighting and screaming from dusk till lights out.Lastly, yes I am talking to everyone who continues to drive around the campground well above the 10 mph speed limit. No one cares about your new jeep or truck and/or your testosterone level. What would you say to the parent of a kid that you could run over being so foolish.Like many people, I have been camping at Elizabeth Furnace for over 24 years. Never ever, have I seen the amount of disrespectful behavior that I saw over the last week/weekend.To all those who are respectful and play by the rules, a big thank you!To all those who continue to treat the campground as a trailer park......I would like to suggest the Great Wolf Lodge or the local Motel 6 as alternative accommodations for your disrespectful behavior!A sincere thank you to the NFS and the campground hosts, for trying their best to enforce the rules!?
