This was absolutely the worst shopping experience I’ve ever had at a Safeway. The price gouging is astounding!! For those that shop here, you can get a much better value and quality, at the new Harris Teeter on Glebe. This was just one glaring example I saw at Safeway, but the price of a bag of Black Rifle coffee at Safeway is over $20. A bag at Harris is $13.99. $6 for a small tin of hummus? It’s $3.99 at Harris!! These folks are taking you for a ride. First and last time I’ll ever set foot here again. Shameful.

Decent selection, deceptive pricing.
I went to buy a watermelon and the advertised price was only available if I installed a Safeway app on my phone. Why do they have to make it so difficult? Not to mention that everything in the store is already overpriced and only reasonably priced when on sale. I hate feeling like I'm being psychologically manipulated every time I set foot in a store. I wish there were something I could do about that other than leaving a 2-star review on Google.
Edit: Look no further than the corporate-speak reply claiming customers actually want this convoluted pricing. In what world would anyone prefer to mess around in an app instead of simply paying lower prices?

How is it that when I order same day delivery, they always have everything, but when I order next day delivery, half my orders missing first thing in the morning? Do you guys not get order everyday anymore or do you not have enough workers to put out the supply in the mornings? How does it make sense to get less product if you order it for the next day? Plus the prices are already skyrocketing for everything, and now we have to pay even more when we order delivery. At least get that right since we're being robbed with all the unnecessary price gouging.

Decent store. Visited the location on a Sunday evening around 9 and parked near one set of doors. Upon leaving I was directed to exit the other set of doors as the set I came is now closed. I walked out to a pitch black parking lot, no external lighting and was mythed. Like did they close while I was inside? Did I miss the announcement(s)? Once I walked across the dark lot, loaded my groceries, returned the cart and returned to my car @ 9:35, I had to check their website. The store closes at midnight-12AM!!! I watched several people approach the “closed” set of doors and then return to their cars puzzled. Not sure if this is a one off lighting issue but if not, someone needs to be disciplined. It’s unsafe for patrons and your employees (wrangling carts).
While sitting here typing this review, someone turned the store signs and lights on, off, on again and then back off. I’m leaving and they’re off….

They are open later than the other grocery store. But other stores are cleaner and the produce here is often near expiration.

What's the point of redeeming items online when the store never delivers them. I've redeemed points for free item multiples but for some reason, this specific store never sends them. Do the employees filling orders keep them or are the no rewards to begin with? Just curious since I've wasted a lot of points for no reason, apparently, and I want an answer.

Price is to high on some stuff, and really mean security, the women was yelling at my daughter. she was just checking out the gift cards for her secret Santa, she picked one up and put it back, and then the security women supposedly she said she is a police stop her on her way out yelling at her for the receipt.

The guy Noah that was working in the floral area was very rude. It’s like you’re bothering him. If you don’t like what you do maybe find another job. Keep your personal issues at home.
