In addition to my previous comments, beware the Patient Relations staff who will tell you stuff like, as a spouse they don't need to consult with you or the medical team. In our experience, staff there violated HIPAA, disclosed hospital records to a third party, then tried to bluff their way out of it without the integrity to dimply admit they were wrong. And they attempted to bully my husband into changing his decision not to allow professionals, while the nurse in charge of the unit retaliated against me for complaining about the HIPAA violations. And something tells me that if I weren't in a same-sex relationship, she never would have tried to tell me that I cannot make decisions for my husband, especially as I have both medical and personal powers of attorney--the latter does not depend on him being incapacitated. And again, not a single person has had the integrity to simply own up and apologize. Very disappointing lack of an ethical rerference point.

Schar Cancer has the absolute worst management I have ever been under. Alex, Berlynne and Reem are some of the worst management I have ever worked under. They have no idea what goes on in their departments because they never care to have huddles or meetings anymore and they put incompetent team leads in charge. They hire the most ignorant people who can't even understand the simple parts of their jobs. They have current team members committing hippa violations and they do not give them written warnings for it. There is someone who works one of their departments who doesn't even know how to do the job and its been over 300 days employed. Their departments are revolving doors because the environments are so bad. They cultivate an environment of hostility and toxicity by allowing and participating in gossip and bad talk along with their poor management style. They do not address what is important. They do not take anything seriously. They have definite favoritism. Their long-term team members are allowed to use their cell phones instead of VRI for language services, yet newer ones did that and they were fired. That same long-term team member called Melanie People's a "B" word because she asked her to change something in her office recently. But, that team member never gets written up. One of their team leads always talks about other team members to the other team members behind her back. It's like grade school. The other one is a micromanager and is very unprofessional. Always understaffed because nobody wants to stay because of the environment. They pick on certain team members and baby others who they feel sorry for or like better. The favoritism is near discrimination. They do not honor any of the values or mission correctly, yet they expect you to honor them. This company does NOT give equal opportunity. This company does not hire for competency or overall job skill. They hire to reach diversity qualifications so that they look good to the public. This is how it is in every single department. We have had to work for many different departments, so I have experienced them in all departments and all of my job titles. The other issue is that they allow patients to verbally abuse and threaten team members without defending them. The majority of the patients who are behaving like this aren't even patients with cancer. They are routine visits, who do not need to be prioritized. We are supposed to be allowed to refuse patients who are hostile and threatening, but this is not happening. One time, they allowed a weapon in and another time recreational drugs were brought in the facility both by two different patients. All three of those managers were informed, but the patients were still allowed to stay with a weapon and with recreational drugs. This is the worst experiences I have ever had working for this company and under this management team. They honestly don't know what they are doing. They just come in and try to meet the minimum standards that are required to keep their upper management off their backs. It's a poopshow in every one of their departments and I do not recommend ever working for any of them. You will regret it. I can't believe how many people left since I started. It's astronomical. I am shocked that Melanie Peoples, Alice Pope, Melissa Smith and Stephen Jones allow this behavior and H.R. does nothing to help the situation. In fact, they enable it. The videos online about how it is such a great place to work are all lies. I have never seen so many unhappy people in one company before. They are more concerned about changing a logo (which is completely not important) than using that money and effort into hiring enough staff so that patient flow is managed and getting rid of the bad management who don't do their jobs. They do not have their priorities straight. It's shocking how backwards this place is. Good luck to you if you choose Inova, because you will eventually regret it. Don't say I didn't warn you. The facility itself & it's services is outstanding ; however, it requieres a lot of walking and the signage can be confusing. There is limited valet parking during the week, and paid parking in the nearby garage, but again, a long walk to the facility.

Doctors , Nurses and staff were excellent during my 21 day hospitalization !!! My one and only complaint was with the person responsible for my release, she had no idea how to arrange for transportation back to my home which was 4 hours away. She would not let my local medical transport company bring me home. Instead it cost thousands more for the one she set me up with. Hopefully they have fired her.

Gloria the housekeeper throw my complet file in the trash when I was at the CVICU! It was outside at the nursing station… when I asked her she talked to me rudely and denied! But she was the only person at this area

DO NOT RECOMMEND VIRGINIA HEART NURSE PRACTITIONERS Nurse practitioner Jennifer Durham Nurse changed the time I take my beta-blocker one day after release from the hospital for heart attack/100% blockage RCA and heart stent placement. That switch precipitated another cardiac event/heart attack and admittance to the ER. Her colleague NP Neil at Fairfax also ok'd me being off the beta-blocker for 36 hours. INOVA has questioned my integrity that a second event even happened even though I ended up in the ER with blood pressure that was 198/107 and the ER struggled to bring those numbers down and my troponin levels were up. Nurse Practitioner Andrew Allen tried to cover Jennifer Durham’s mistake by not authorizing a follow up echo to see if the abrupt removal of the beta blocker from my system caused an arrhythmia or tachycardia DO NOT RECOMMEND VIRGINIA HEART NURSE PRACTITIONERS

Great medical center! Medical staff are nice and the facility is great. The issue I had was the guy who issues the visitors pass. Very rude and incompetent. Be sure to talk slow for him so he can comprehend.
