Dr. Chun loooooooves white women (a lot), so he'll take care of your pets if you fit this profile.

Great vet, they do a good job of taking care of the animals. Downside is their availability on weekends but overall staff is very kind and helpful.

They have changed. They are too busy now.
My dog was sick, but they are able to see my dog after four weeks. So they told me to go somewhere else. Also, they don’t give you specific solutions to the problem that the dog is having.
So please look for other vet options if you can.

I've waited a while to write this review as it seems like all the reviews are either 5 stars or 1 star. I've seen both sides so take my review with a grain of salt. When we first moved to Nova, I was looking for a good, affordable vet that we could trust when our dog needed his annual check ups or when he got sick. For the first year and half, we saw Dr. Chun and everything was great - he was attentive and clear in explaining things for a healthy dog. THEN, our dog had a seizure and they were very accommodating for a last minute appointment - they found nothing and he was back to normal by the time we went in that day. Shortly after, our dog kept throwing up and was extremely lethargic. This time we saw a female vet; younger blonde woman. Over the 3-4 times we came in during this episode, she noted that he had leg pain, then back pain, then neck/back pain. The blood tests we finally got told us nothing new and the misguided knowledge of the new vet led us to VCA twice and thousands of $$$. Each subsequent time we came back, we insisted he must have licked something or bc we gave him a bath with some hotel shampoo for a quick fix. They charged us for a brand new visit, argued about the previous "diagnosis" and insisted that the diagnosis is what it is. Dr Chun, even came to one of the check ups (not to check on our dog, but to insist that his vets notes were accurate and they have no idea what goes on with the dogs and they can only make assumptions). Well, mind you, the VCA techs also did their blood tests and an abdominal ultrasound and noted that he just had a gastrointestinal upset from something he ate, NOT back/neck pain. Simply bc he is part dachshund, does not mean that any problem is related to a slipped disc or back injury. Especially if the patient/customer is insisting some type of stomach issue. Fast forward to late 2023, for his annual visit this time, we also got the blonde female vet, where she insisted that our dog had a heart murmur. I asked if it was possible that he was just nervous of being at the vet and being close to strangers as he is an anxious dog. A heart murmur that has been unheard of and she encouraged us to go to a dog cardiologist... alarmed, I come home and call my husband - who works in neurosurgery at Inova.... Later that night, he takes out his stethoscope to check - lo and behold NO MURMUR. The last visit we had was early 2024 when we came back from the Christmas holiday - and our dog was throwing up yellow (bile?) the female blonde vet insisted on blood tests which notably indicated that he has pancreatitis - and recommended that we switch to a "healthier" royal canin diet. She also continued to push on the non existent heart murmur. We've been on this recommended diet for the better part of 7 months and we've seen no changes in his sporadic vomits of yellow bile, but note that this is often the case if he is dehydrated or hungry. So take what you will from my review and experiences. We loved our initial visits with Dr Chun. He was patient and easy going with our dog. However, the experiences with the female blonde vet has left A LOT to be desired and would be the primary reason why we would consider not returning. Arguing with vets about the issues that the dog is having is never one that you want to have when your dog is sick and needs a vet - being your pet's advocate shouldn't be this hard. We *might* return, only seeking specifically Dr. Chun's expertise in an annual visit, or look for an alternative vet office where we feel confident with all the vets on staff.

I'm thrilled to say that the staff was absolutely amazing! They went above and beyond to take care of my furry friend and I couldn't have asked for more. Their helpfulness and dedication truly exceeded my expectations, and my dog couldn't have been in better hands.

Please don’t bother to call this place if you are considering this hospital for your pets first time
Korean lady who answered phone doesn’t want any first time patients at all and she said hospital is fully booked
Good luck

I would recommend this animal hospital to anyone! My dog is normally sensitive and fearful but the kindness from the vet and staff have made him more comfortable. Dr.Chun is a very skilled doctor. I would give 10 stars if I could!

Pet Lovers Animal Hospital is the best you can find! Dr. Chun is our vet since 2014, omg 10 years. My two German Shepherds are getting the best care they can get. My 9 year old just needed a bigger surgery. Luckily we caught her problem early and she recovered amazingly from her surgery and is already running, and jumping around. Not sure what I would do without Dr. Chun. His talent is just amazing and he really cares about the pets. Add to this his amazing and caring team that is always on top of things. You can find better!

I live in Bethesda, MD, and travel to Fairfax, VA because I trust Dr. Chun. Whether services rendered are for annual check-ups, teeth cleaning, vaccinations, etc. for over 25+ years, he is the best. I only hope to find a vet as caring and efficient as Dr. Chun when I move to CA in Feb., 2024. His staff, including Robert, is very friendly. Sharren Shoemaker
