We used Oak Hill to put a new addition over our garage. The work was completed on time and on budget. The quality is impeccable. They’ve been responsive to punch list and close out items. We are incredibly happy with the result and cannot recommend them highly enough. They gave us exactly what we wanted.
Every single representative that Oak Hill sent to our home, whether their employee or a subcontractor, was polite and professional. They worked clean and always picked up after themselves. We lived in our home through the renovation, and despite the upheaval that comes with that, Oak Hill made the whole experience as easy as I could possibly hope for. We’re happy with the result, but there are times I miss having them around. A very fun group to work with.

The team at Oak Hill first did a full bathroom remodel, then a few months later we hired them again to do a full basement renovation including adding a full bathroom (w/ ejector pump) and a complex home theater. They knocked it out of the park both times! The team did quality work and felt like true partners with a common goal. Having trust in them made what is ordinarily a stressful experience go much more smoothly. Remodeling inherently comes with some compromises and Oak Hill helped guide us to make the best decisions for our situation on design, materials, sources, where it was worthwhile to spend a little extra money and where it was better to save a little money. They provided the best value and we would absolutely hire them again.

My wife and I were looking for a contractor to remodel our basement and fix a major slope in our upstairs bedroom. A neighbor (who also remodeled their basement) strongly recommended we contact Oak Hill after having a great experience with them. After speaking with Thomas and Nick, it was clear that they knew their tradecraft and would be good partners throughout the process. They were excellent in helping us design our layout and clearly define the overall scope of work. Throughout the effort, they stuck to the scope and completed the project within budget. I never once thought that I was being taken advantage of as has been the case with other contractors. The entire Oak Hill team did excellent work and were both courteous and respectful of our house and family. They really cared about the work they did and how it impacted us. Oak Hill has changed how we live in our house, and we can’t speak highly enough of our experience with them. We can’t wait to get them started on the next phase of our remodeling efforts.

My husband and I decided to completely finish our basement (we had a partial done with the original builder). In starting the process, we went on Angi’s list and also spoke with neighbors and friends before choosing Oakhill Building from a few other contractors. One of our neighbors used them for two projects and were very happy with them. From the beginning, we were so impressed. One of the contractors we interviewed wanted to rip out our existing ceiling (adding so much $ to the cost) for no reason. Another asked if we wanted to have an official inspection (so that was a red flag). We had a specific idea in mind following the style of our home and they came through with flying colors. We showed them pictures and ideas and they put it together for us. They installed a beautiful full bar with a stone back splash, created a wine nook from a computer nook with a stone back splash, installed a stone wall in main area with an electric fireplace and finished our workout room. Tom and Nick Vitalie were so easy to work with; incredibly knowledgeable and very professional as well as honest. They were very in tune to detail and nothing was done without perfection. If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would. We are so happy with our finished basement. It is beautiful. I highly recommend Oakhill Building. You will be more than satisfied.

Working with Oak Hill Building & Remodeling was the absolute BEST experience my wife and I have ever had with a contractor at our home, and we've had many over the years in both Maryland and Virginia. Nick Vitale deployed highly competent staff to our window frame reconstruction project in record time. He was an excellent communicator, and stopped by when he said he would. Nick also attended to every detail, and personally dropped off and picked up supplies. In a time when so many contractors tell homeowners, "Oh no, we don't do drywalling and painting," Nick's Team did, and did a professional job. We are exceedingly pleased with the craftsmanship and the overall experience. This is no ordinary endorsement, but rather the highest possible accolade.

My wife and I contracted with Nick and Thomas Vitale of Oak Hill Building and Remodeling to transform the first floor of our home from a 1980's style to a fresh, modern open floor plan design. Oak Hill refinished my basement (new flooring, building a mudroom, replacing and/or repairing drywall, lighting throughout) and replaced all of the windows, exterior doors, and most of the light fixtures in my house. They were highly professional with great standards of work. Most of the project took place when we were out of the area, and the team was excellent at communicating throughout the process. The project was completed according to the timeframe discussed upfront. I was so happy with their work that I added some additional changes, but the main project came in at budget. They came recommended by a neighbor, and we're thrilled with how the project came out. I would highly recommend this business to others.Services: Flooring

We had the most wonderful experience with Oak Hill Building. We live in a small farmhouse and wanted to add a breezeway and owner suite and porch on the first floor that looked true to the style and era of the original farmhouse. From my first few meetings with Nick and Thomas, I knew they could see and accomplish my vision. We worked closely with their architect to come up with a beautiful rendition. As construction began, Nick and Thomas did an excellent job of coordinating all the contractors and moving along as quickly as possible. The quality and craftmanship of their Oak Hill team and subs was excellent. I really appreciated their knowledge and attention to details. They always said “yes, we can do that” and always found a way of making it happen. I wanted a brick wall at the far end of the bedroom that looked old with messy mortar and uneven paint and after showing some pictures they said sure we can do that. I wanted custom made closets and bench for breezeway to replicate others in the older part of house and said sure we can do that! From start to finish, we were impressed with their work. We are so happy with the finished product and love our new addition. I would highly recommend Oak Hill and will be using them for future projects!Service: Home addition construction

We would definitely call Oak Hill for our next project, and recommend them strongly without reservation. Oak Hill did a major addition for us that included a new MBR and Master Bathroom over the garage, replacing the old water heater with a new unit and added an AC unit, and increasing the chimney height. The completed work looks like the addition belongs with the house, and seamlessly blends into the overall design. The neighbors continually give us compliments on the outward appearance of the addition, and we feel like we live in the Ritz on the inside!We had a great experience with them. The true test of a general contractor is dealing with the usual construction issues (supply chain, sub-contractors, electrical/plumbing, etc). Whenever there were potential issues or confusion with the sub contractors, we reached out to Oak Hill and they immediately addressed the issue to our complete satisfaction. They kept us informed of any supply chain issues and worked with us to minimize any disruptions. We always felt the relationship was mutual; a mutual give and take resulting in a quality job that enhanced the property value and our personal enjoyment. Yes, we dared to do a kitchen remodel during COVID. Oak Hill was great helping us navigate all the usually stresses that come with the dreaded "kitchen remodel". Overall I feel like we got GREAT VALUE with the Oak Hill team, and would use them again. Were there delays - yes, were there "surprises", and were there "problems" yes. But the discriminator was how Nick (Our PM) handled those issues - Very Professional, very up front. When Nick says/said - "We'll take care of that" - it gets done. His crew was also great to work with - they were the SUPER HANDY brothers I never had - real professional craftsmen.Service: Remodeling

Oak Hill Building knocked down a sunporch and built a new room off the kitchen which included a new gas fireplace and installation of a split. They also replaced my deck, added a brick mailbox with a light fixture and built a portico over my front door.Excellent work by all the subs and we had many. This was during the pandemic when the supply chain was quite challenging but Nick and Thomas were persistent and creative in finding materials. They also convinced the county to allow the new construction after initially receiving a rejection.Throughout the entire job, they were always careful to make sure it was the least disruptive to my daily living and kept me informed when someone would be coming and what they would be doing.I would highly recommend using Oak Hill Building and Renovation for all of your home renovation needs.Services: Install flooring

We had a wonderful experience with Oak Hill Remodeling. They remodeled our master bathroom, and the quality of the work was excellent from start to finish. The work was done in a timely way and showed excellent craftmanship and attention to detail at every stage. Thomas and Nick were great project managers. They are highly knowledgeable and were extremely responsive in addressing any questions or concerns we raised or any changes we wanted to make as the project unfolded.
