I worked there briefly and cash money and Wi-Fi hotspot was stolen from my purse that I left in the owners office. When I confronted them about it...they were very highly defensive and almost broke out a fight with the assistant daughter who was very angry that I was asking about my stuff. Ratchet and overpriced...make sure you aware of where your hair goes because lots of clients "lose" their hair in the salon...dishonest people including Marcella. 😱😥

Marcie has been my stylist for over 15 years, and I've always received excellent service. Her staff has been courteous and knowledgeable, and each of her salons has had a relaxing and welcoming environment. If you're looking for someone who is professional, knowledgeable and always on top of the latest styles and techniques, then Marcella and her team are definitely the stylists for you!

Amazing service and professionalism. I had pictures of a hairstyle I wanted to make into a custom wig and got exactly what I requested. Marcella and her team are amazing!

Marcella Ellis and her beauty specialist are fabulous! I must say that I have NEVER been disappointed when I leave. You get what you ask for if not BETTER! Show them a picture and they do close to what the the picture is. My experience is that my hair turned out better looking than the picture! I feel so good about my hair every time I go. Not only is the styling to rave about but their bedside manner is so comforting and welcoming. Knowing that you are reluctant to show your hair in it's natural state, they make you feel like they really understand your situation and treat you with much respect. I feel so confident knowing that I will get a perfect result in an warm environment. Marcella Ellis and company... YOU ROCK! I will always keep referring people to you guys! Thank you! Thank you! Do you want soccer mom hair? Even if you're 16? Bad Hair Day specializes in boring cuts and coloring. Everything that was trendy 30 years ago can be yours! Whether you want it or not.Don't waste your time as this place was horrible from start to finish.I chose this salon for my wedding that was in town and it was a nightmare from start to finish with this place. Should be called hell hair day. The owner( Marcella Ellis) was the rudest person and after giving her greedy money I can say that I learned a lesson and Place so dirty I will never go back. I would give a 0 star if I could

Very bad customer service. Owner is very arogant. Doesn't do a good job on hair. Marcella does the business for the money and lies about the procedure. Not a good hair stylist. She's making money by setting up as a school because she doesn't have clients, and to find clients they usually go to Maryland instead of focusing on the area.

I've been coming to Marcella Ellis Hair Studio off and on since maybe 2012 and today decided to finally write a review. When I first starting coming to the shop I would typically see a different stylist, but over time I started to only book my appointments with Sharon. I can't begin to express how wonderful Sharon is! Im very particular about my hair, as I've had bad experiences throughout the DMV with other stylists who think they know what they're doing! A few things that make Sharon standout for me: 1- She wasn't just concerned about the sew-in, she paid attention to my actual hair. As a natural I am soo appreciative of stylists that handle my natural hair with care. After my wash and condition, Sharon was extra careful as she sectioned and dried my hair. 2- my braids are tight enough but not too tight. 3- my closure is LAID! One of my biggest pet peeves is a closure that looks horrible. Sharon carefully placed and sewed down my closure and it looks flawless! #whatclosure 4- I got a long bob with layers and Sharon masterfully cut my hair. She didn't do a quick cut with the razor, instead she went section by section checking her work to make sure the layers sit perfectly. All in all, I am completely satisfied with Sharon's work and will continue to come back. She is very meticulous and a damn near perfectionist from start to finish. If you're in the DMV and need a professional (e.g. Great at their craft, customer service oriented), then call on Sharon!

Please never go to this salon. the stylists are not professional and don't listen to what you want. to make matter worst, they always overcharge their clients.
