Couldn’t get dog food because our 15 year old dog isn’t neutered and our puppy isn’t yet either! He’s 12 months and a great Dane / mastiff. You’d think they’d overlook the neutering part especially since we just got our mastiff through liver failure and they’d give us some dog food but no…. No go. Not even a consideration. You’d think the humane society would appreciate us feeding the dogs. I will let everyone know what was said when we called for help

We wanted to adopt a kitten, but the lady never called to make the adoption, she was very rude and told everyone that no, in our application even that everything was fine. We just think that this is a form of racism, she looked at us and received us in a horrible way, she didn't even want to listen to us when we arrived, I don't know how they can have these types of older people working there, with zero empathy, not even because she talks to childrenThus the kittens will never be adopted, and they are denied a family that truly loves them. We're still waiting for the call and obviously she won't do it,Our house is big, there is no problem, we even gave all our information, and even so, when she finished, she just looked at us with a displeased face and said, I'll call him and throw away our application, I hope someone does something about it.

The HSFC Centreville farm is a wonderful place to volunteer! The staff are friendly and encouraging, and the facilities are clean and held to a high standard of care and maintenance. I highly recommend HSFC!

My experience with the Centerville location that houses dogs and horses for adoption was perfect! If you are interested in adoption definitely go here. Michael was very nice and informative. I will be picking up my two guys on Saturday! Now can someone go adopt their mom her name is Chiquita.

Called to offer our assistance the manager would not name themselves Was rude and hung up.We asked to speak to the director since they would not name themselves as the "manager" A quick search of the irs and aren't current with tax filings since 2019Unfortunately very inappropriate for a non profitHopefully new managers will take over

Those that work here are phenomenally caring and loving toward the animals in their care. Every interaction we have had has been professional and sincere. We will dearly miss the cat that we surrendered to the Humane Society but are comforted by knowing that you will find him a wonderful new home where he will be happy. Thank you for providing such an important service to cats and other animals in your care!

i adopted a black pit mix from them, and she had been there for a few months. when we met her they said she was terribly abused and neglected in her past homes, but when we got her she was in horrible shape. she was far too skinny, teeth chattering, and fear in her eyes. when my kids held her in their arms, her teeth stopped chattering and she made an immediate connection with my boys. we brought her home and immediately started making her healthy meals, trained her, socialized her, and now she's in an acceptable condition.

I thought the dog handlers at the shelter were wonderful to work with and so helpful . They seem to know all the dogs and were most pleasant. I thought the facility was clean and the dogs were well cared for.

Stay away from this organization. They will let you fill out your application and after that they will not respond you. They will response your email and phone call until they let you fill out your application to increase the number of applicants. Once you comple filling out the application, they will not respond you no matter how many times you call them or email them. They will make up the stories in order to deter you and let someone else adopt the pet. I believe this organization is a big for profit business. They need many applicants but they don't want you to adopt any pet from them. More likely, they sell the pets to someone else whom they know and pays more. So, stay away.

I strongly recommend going elsewhere to adopt animals. From our first visit, the staff was condescending and rude. We persevered in attempting to adopt a bunny, but we were notified that our application was going to be rejected because our dog was not yet neutered. Our dog unfortunately is not yet a year old - too young to be neutered. When I asked why there is no exception to the policy for animals that are too young, they were not able to provide an answer. When I got upset on the phone (not yelling or being rude, but expressing frustration at the seeming nonsensical nature of the policy and asking that there be a review process), apparently that worker did not go to a manager for a discussion and instead put a note in my file saying not to allow us to adopt the rabbit. To say that my children are devastated is an understatement - they went and met the animal and were so excited. The entire process was grossly mismanaged from the outset, which really is tragic because all wr were trying to do was provide a loving home to the little bun. I've since found out that the staff member who treated us that was has left. So there isn't even a way to review the application. I ended up crying on the phone to these people. Just absolutely absurd that trying to adopt would turn unto such a circus. These folks need to SERIOUSLY rethink their training and processes. I can clearly see from the reviews that I am not the only one to have had this experience. It's almost feels like they don't want you to adopt their animals.

Very disappointed. Communication and professionalism lacking. Inquired about a dog for over a month, filled out 2 applications and sent numerous emails and phone calls to set up an appointment to meet the dog...ignored by all. Today, the dog is off the website..Not a good way to do business.

One of the best animal shelters in the area! Very friendly staff, and the animals are in excellent care. I adopted my cat from here a year ago, and couldn’t have been happier with the smooth process. I was so grateful for the easy experience, that I have recently started volunteering here to give back.
