Excellent financial service. My advisor is constantly making contact to ensure I understand what is going on in the market and how it impacts our finances. But, the most important thing is my wife feels very comfortable with him. So, I feel a sense if relief that if any thing happen to me she will be in good hands.

Beware..... these guys costs me over $200k in losses over a three year period. They invest your money on a profile (conservative, moderate, aggressive investor). Their "financial engines" manage your investment. Good luck in getting in personal attention or in persuading them to invest "your" money outside of their established computer models. I so regret dealing with these guys. Don't make the mistake I made...take the time to interview advisors that meet you needs. There are better options than a 1-800 number and a different advisor each time you call.

My wife and I had some life events that had some significant financial issues that needed to be dealt with quickly. Before we even could meet with anyone from EFE, we spoke with a very helpful advisor, Brendan, who got us pointed in the right direction before we could meet with him. Brendan was very interested in helping us and we ultimately signed on with EFE. We have had a great experience working with Brendan and feel like we can contact him whenever we feel it is needed.

Their website talks about the wide range of services they offer, but fails to mention that they only provide services if they are managing your money. Further, their promised free, no obligation consultation, turned into a meeting in which they wanted to find out more about us and push their expertise at managing money (at what felt to us as high rates). We were highly disappointed in the loss of the time we spent preparing to talk with them and upset about how they mislead us into sharing personal financial information. I've seen some other reviews about how good they are at investment management, on which we have no opinion, but contact them and share your information only if you are looking for an investment manager.

This company was hired by American Airlines to help us (employees) with investment choices. I took advantage of this offer. In one year I saw my investments plummet 12%+. Canceled their services today.

Last July, I took money sitting in a no interest checking, and invested it with Edelman, now I realize in the big scheme of things its not much, but it represented a few years of savings, and I watched it lose 20% so far without a call, with no changes in strategy, they are just not responsive. I was told, just leave it in Charles Schwab, and over the long haul it will do better. The rep put me in highly volatile stocks, and I am 61 close to retirement, so I feel the advise was awful, and I would stay far away from this company.

Last Sunday he was pumping Bitcoin for the whole hour. Why is he pumping alternative assets that can hurt our economy?

So I have not been a long term customer of Financial Engines yet, but I can speak to their level of service with the office that I am using. They have been nothing but courteous and prompt and helpful. I have enjoyed hearing their perspective on investment and I am putting my trust in them for at least several years, which I will then evaluate my money growth, with hopes of them responsibly managing our retirement funds. Cimilie Zoy in the Webster Texas office has been very professional. A lot of these reviews seem to be mad that they didn't counsel them like a Dave Ramsey guest, but they are in the business of making money, and they make that money off of your money. If you have no money, or you just want advice, I can understand why you may not have been happy with what you received, but also understand from their view. If you went to a mechanic and just wanted to talk about how your car would run if you did all the maintenance, but didn't have the money to do any of it, they probably wouldn't be to enthusiastic about putting together a plan to do all of the work either IMHO. I would give them a try if I were you. They waived any would be fees for us, and presented us with a very professional overview of our finances.

We hired Edelman to invest a large amount of money for us and after our initial appointment and giving them access to our investment accounts, we never heard from anyone again. We watched our money fall over the next several months and finally I removed their access to our funds. I would not recommend Edelman, maybe it was just their Bellevue office, but who knows. They put our funds somewhere and just left it there, watched it lose money and never touched base or re-evaluated where they were investing. Basically, didn't do their job at all! I already made back most of what they lost us in less than 2 weeks. And yes I understand the market fluctuates, but if I can figure out what to invest in with zero financial background, they should have done better for us! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I made the mistake of investing a significant amount of money with the agreement that they would assist me with some complicated stock transfers regarding my parents' estate. My advisor immediately passed me off to her "assistant" who it turns out knew less about the transfer process than I did and was not very motivated to help me so I ended up negotiating the process mostly myself and with great assistance from Schwab ( after I ended my relationship with Edelman). Seems like Edelman is all about getting a percentage of your wealth in exchange for marginal expertise.

I contacted Ken Sakamoto because I was in need of long term financial advice and planning for myself and my family. I told him up front that I was willing to pay for the advice but was not interested in a sales pitch to invest with Edelman. He assured me that since he is a fiduciary financial adviser that that's what he does so not to worry. Fast forward to several weeks later after driving to their headquarters with my Wife for our meeting. He met with us for about five minutes but as soon as he learned that we were not going to invest he abruptly ended the meeting by saying there is nothing more to talk about (this is actually a direct quote of what he said). Which I found to be fairly insulting and rude not to mention humiliating after having convinced my Wife this would be a good idea. If you are already wealthy and want to invest with them then this company may be a good match for you. But if you're looking for sound financial planning and advice then save yourself time and energy by steering clear. They may try to use bait and switch tactics to get you to invest, saying they are fiduciary financial advisers, but from my experience all they are really interested in is your money.

In reference to his new show "Truth about your future " Very disappointed...it is nothing more then an infomercial pushing his advertisers and their products. It is sad to see how low he has sunk and his now questionable integrity.

I filled out a form on their website with interest in talking about financial advisor services, etc. I received a return call from someone today and when he asked what he can do for me I said I was interested in financial planning services. His response was " We don't sell financial plans you will have to contact a CFP"... WHAT?? I was taken aback by his rude and condescending tone and quickly ended the call. By the way, this is a statement that I just copied from there website: Edelman Financial Engines is a financial advisor firm that is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. It offers an assortment of services focused on financial planning, investment management, retirement planning and money management. You just LOST a potential new client.

I wasn't going to review this company until I heard them say today on the raido that they were #1. So here goes, A few years ago we went to a presentation in Newport Beach that they put on. We made an appointment to see and advisor. We went to the meeting he seemed nice. Spoke about where our investments were how they were what he thought of the company etc. he wanted us to move our money so he would be controlling it. Went home and googled the advisor. Big shock!! He was being sued by the company we had our investments with and did not say a word. Very disappointed. Would not trust a company with our money who hid important information!!!!!

I arranged a financial consultation with a representative from Edelman Financial Engines and I was extremely disappointed. I thought that Edelman would be a good company for me to hire as a financial advisor, because I saw that Barron's and Consumer Reports seem to both rate Edelman highly, but I hadn't yet checked the Yelp reviews. After my "financial consultation," I did check the Yelp reviews and they really helped me put my negative experience with a financial advisor at Edelman into perspective, since it was in some ways similar to that stated by the other reviewers. Firstly, I felt like there was pressure on me to demonstrate that I would be a "good client," rather than for the financial advisor to demonstrate that the company offers good financial advisor services. I also found the "financial advisor" I spoke with to be extremely unprofessional and his "advice" to be suspect, despite his repeated assurances that as a fiduciary, he is legally obligated to provide advice that is in my best interests. After spending nearly 2 hours speaking to him about my personal financial details (and enduring his comments which I would describe as being rude and sarcastic), he did a "back of the napkin" projection and declared that I don't have the necessary resources to buy a home now and maintain it during retirement. His calculation didn't include key information I had just shared with him or alternative income and retirement age scenarios that we had just discussed, nor did he seem interested in applying this information to his calculations. So, based on my experience, my conclusion is that he was completely irresponsible and careless in advising me, doesn't know how to do a financial analysis, and/or he was trying to discourage me from buying a home for reasons having to do with the amount of my money that would otherwise be under Edelman's management. Based on my conversation with this "advisor," I also felt that once my money was under Edelman's management that I would be discouraged from withdrawing any of it again for reasons having to do with the amount of my money under management. Although I found my experience with Edelman to have been a complete waste of time, I am thankful that it was negative enough for me to confidently exclude them as a company that I would want to do business with.
