Clawes Carpets in Fairfax installed new carpeting for us this week. Every step in the process was A+++; the sales people, the showroom, the price, the perfect installation. The installers were perfectionists; the price of the whole job was 20% less than the original estimate; there was no pressure in the sales process; they gave us a discount for paying by check instead of credit card. The price was more than reasonable, and the job would have been worth more than they charged us. FIRST CLASS ALL THE WAY

Overall: Clawes did a great job on our flooring. My husband and I had just bought a house and wanted to replace the ugly carpeting. I reached out to my network of fellow military spouses and one recommendation was Clawes. They were very communicative and helpful. Roy Clawes himself came out twice to our house to do measurements (as we made a few additions to the work). He was very easy to talk to and very knowledgable. He and his staff made efforts to give us options that met the aesthetic we wanted and the budget we had. Pricing was transparent. Staff is very friendly. It has now been more than a month since they installed the flooring and I'm still a little in love with the floor.Room for improvement: The hardwood sale was pushed very hard on us, even after we said we didn't think it was the right choice upon further consideration (hence the removal of 1 star). I know it was a very good deal for hardwood at the time we were shopping around, but it unfortunately didn't fit our anticipated needs. However, Roy made it clear to us that he was in agreement with our decision to go with vinyl for our needs, so it was helpful to see he was not pushing it.

For the 4th time we have had new flooring installed by Clawes Carpet on Braddock Road. We are so very pleased with the entire process that I can't say enough good things.The selection, the advice, the perfection of installation and the excellent customer service were outstanding. I absolutely recommend them to anyone who needs any type of new flooring.

We had Clawes install carpeting in 3 bedrooms as well as replacing the runner on the stairs. The actual carpet installation was fine; they did a nice job with that and the workers were all courteous. But our experience before and after the carpet installation wasn’t great. After they came out initially to take measurements, we had to call them three times over a period of 3 weeks to get the quote, when they originally said they would provide it the next day. Kind of frustrating (and perplexing). After the job was complete I noticed the next day our driveway (where they cut the carpet, which I had no issue with) is littered with bits of carpet all over the place. Not cool. We’ve had a string of contractors come through our house lately, several of whom used the driveway for various purposes, and they all cleaned up after themselves, even hosing the driveway at one point. Not Clawes. Now I’ve got bits of carpet all over my driveway, blowing into my lawn, etc. A headache of a mess that I really shouldn’t have to deal with. We used Clawes a few years ago in our previous house and were pleased with their work, which is why we went with them this time. Maybe this was an anomaly or just a bad crew, though the carpet installation itself was well done; I don’t know but we’ll be looking for another carpet place next time when the need arises.

Had them install my carpet years ago, excellent job. Recently I needed to have my carpet cleaned. I called and they could not give me an accurate price even though they knew the size and condition because they cleaned it before. I scheduled about 3 weeks out for 10am. Well 10am ce and went and I called and they said it would be close to 1030. Well I had a meeting at 11am and left a message to reschedule. Cleaner showed up at 1059am and they did not tell him that I could not do it right now. I called back after my meeting and Mike did not really care that the appointment was late. I asked to reschedule and he said about 4 weeks out. I said even though you guys missed the appointment and he said, that is correct. I told him I am going to cancel and he said OK. And that was it. Did not care at all. I got another cleaner to come out ad do it 2 days later. Might be good at installation but they dont care about cleaning.

We waited for them - they were 3 hrs late for an app't, with no notice, call, or text [after they cancelled a previous app't]. And then he was hostile when he did show up. So we did not use them.
